This episode basically paints the dark state experience. OT got soul charged.
I might as well point it out but I do love how the entire plot of the villain faction is to essentially create a tier 0 meta. It's not a taking over the world plot which is honestly a massive breath of fresh air compared to most other tcg animes airing now.

My issue with this is that while this iteration of Vanguard has admittedly a very nice story, I *really* don’t like this idea that having mystical otherworldly elements in the series is somehow a detriment or a “cringy” flaw. If you don’t like mystical elements in a card game, you can just…watch IRL matches of tournament players or whatnot
I’ve watched Vanguard since the OG days and Cray lore and its ties with the normal world has always been one of my favorite things about Vanguard, expanding on the universe in the series. I don’t get that same connection here since the story is so grounded, I barely know anything about the stories behind these Units or this era of Cray without reading their specific lores. You can absolutely make a greatly written anime without every single character or element needing to be realistic or closer to reality. This iteration, while great, doesn’t somehow negate that older series like OG and G eras were also great. Just say you have a preference and leave it at that then.
Vanguard has also always implemented a great balance between realism and mystical plots. Half the time it could be about involving Cray & saving the world, other times it can be about the characters growing their card skills and winning tournaments. It still gives Vanguard a unique spin on the TCG anime side of things and not making it the same as Yugioh.

The best episode for this season, the unexpected play from Danji and using Drajeweled as VG and Bruce as RG make it kind of symbolism as "I wont let you be alone" I want to know the lore for this now. Last thing, hope they announce the release date of song collection today. Oh also don't forget Danji said "Ore no Bunshin! " Nice touch to Aichi called Blaster Blade as his Bunshin/Avatar

Despite the danger, this episode really feels like 2 friends just messing around. Danji even put in that super spicy tech-in(Drajeweled) as if they were playtesting. The fight feels relatable too, with soulcharging Overtrigger to Danji's final turn being messy af.
reminds me of YuGiOh SEVENS's finale.
At that moment, the duel was probably one of the highest stakes, but the duel didn't even had holograms or magic (despite both being in outer space). Just 2 friends and their cards

Jinki having morals to the health of Michiru here really adds a depth to his character.
He’s not quite as goofy of a villain like Takuto or Gyze but a tragic character bound by his desire to fulfill his brother’s dream. He sees the lines he crossed but knows he is too deep to stop. I hope that they focus on this more in the next season as they flesh out the motivations of each character further.
So far my favourite part of this iteration of VG is just the individual goals of its characters being grounded to a believable reality. Its not “save the world” but more to figure out oneself and I think for an audience that’s grown up to vanguard, its really nice to have that over “cray is in danger and I am fighting to save my mystical friends”
Yes. Honestly, I wish Cray was always purely fictional entity within vanguard's world, and characters connections to Cray units were more metaphorical instead of literal (that whole G era lore). The first season of Vanguard was so good because it was about a boy with a lack if confidence finding friends and place to belong through a hobby, that transcends physical limitations (anyone can play card games). Maybe it's a hot take, but the best part of Link Joker arc was also Aichi adapting to his new life and putting his newfound confidence to use.
@@kindlingking The overdress era of the anime seems largely disconnected from what came before and even before that V Series followed the manga more closely and even the G manga didn't have the real Cray in it. So your comment is entirely irrelevant.
@@mattwo7 how is it irrelevant when it indirectly praises D era? My only complaint is that they still keep magical aspects somewhat vague for the sake of at least some connection with previous shows. Which I honestly don't give a damn about. Screw G with it's world saviour and chosen one bs, screw V with its awful "close to original manga" reboot (except Shinemon arc, that one felt surprisingly grounded, especially with it's bittersweet conclusion for Shin). Give me more characters like Tohya, Danji and Mirei, who feel like real people with real issues, more storylines where Vanguard is treated as what it actually is - just a game, that connects different people, not a founding stone of the whole world. But I think I'm getting carried away.

@@wrecktheinternet card game anime can and should be good too. There are no set ways to do a tcg anime, it's all about approach - whether you want to tell a good story or just to sell a product.
I was expecting Danji vs Michiru to be as impactful as the opening suggested, but the fight itself exceeded my expectations. The overtrigger soulcharges, Danji using both Bruce and Drajeweled (as in, both fighters' aces) and the messed up finale when it was decided by banking on drawing triggers, it had everything going.
I love in the end Jinki still have some humanity and worry about Michiru, he isn't some kind of psychopath, he just a guy whi made a deal with the devil and can not return now
He also was a legit superfan. So him having what's essentially an oshi go into a coma somewhat indirectly because of him likely set off some triggers.

This ep was a good callback to the old days of Rivals bringing back their friends using their old ace units. Kinda a trope at this point, but nice to see here! Also Danji said the thing! Hehe
Yeah x3 it especially reminded me of Beyblade, where Tyson brings Kai back by defeating Black Dranzer with regular Dranzer.
There were a lot of moments I like in this fight. Soul charging the OT, the heavy emphasis on the trigger checks. Also, Danji second ride is reminisce of the first seasons of Vanguard, when fighters rode different Grade 3s for different vanguard effects.
This episode had so many twists and turns. I really liked how Danji and Michiru's friendship was portrayed and the epicness of their battle, I seriously wasn't expecting Danji to use Drajeweled. But as upbeat as the most of the battle was, things quickly turned dark...
this season was incredible and this whole series is absolutely beautiful. this episode... wow. let me just say i have seen a LOT of tcg anime, and I've never seen anything like this. writing, voice acting, execution, visuals-- unbelievable. hats off :)
Danji riding Drajewelled was SUCH A TWIST nobody expected! NOW THAT'S A LOT OF DAMAGE!!! Both emotional and in the game! Michiru abandoned Drajewelled, to go after the most optimum fight; but Danji used Drajewelled to completely overturn the fight and in the most unoptimal fight, won. That's cool as heck!

Best fight yet. The tense atmosphere as well as the ending for Michiru really strikes home that this might be the last time we ever see him again. At least, in a physical body...
Fight, animation and episode was awasome for season final. Danji using both drajeweled and bruce was unexpected and I cant believe Michiru is at coma now😭. I dont know how I will be be able to wait but see you all next season👋
There's so much to unpack here in this cardfight and I love it, first is the fact that they both soul charged their overtrigger i firmly believe it was written this way so the fight is purely on their own judgment and skill, no ot shenanigans just a brawl and Danji's use of drajeweled just sent me to the moon it was so out of left field! Even the final turn where he said "Here's my Double!" I got chills from all the way back in og Vanguard "Stand Up my Avatar!" God I loved this episode! I can't wait for the rest of it!!! Stand Up Vanguard!

Danji played some crazy mind games in this episode. He played Drajeweled specifically because he knew Bruce would get countered, and it all came down to top decking in the end.
I love how realisitc it played out at the end. Just both of them trying to call with whatever they have in hand and get a trigger
This fight has been one of the most fun I've seen in a while! Seems like the kind of fun and shenanigans two friends would have to get up too.

Some predictions and things I'd like for the next season(let me know if you (dis)agree and/or what are yours):
Predictions: -the will dress ride lines of the new heroes(jheva and viamance too) will get G4 because why not(i just hope bavsagra gets a g4)
- Raika might get either a G4 + g4 revolforms or get an "ultimate" revolform(my guess is revolform: storm or hurricane)
-There will be a tournament where all the rivalries will be settled but they will be beaten by jinki and/or zakusa before getting beaten by either yu-yu or danji
-Halona will use hexaorb, arkhite or a lyrical monasterio ride line
Things I'd like(somewhat) but doubt will happen:
-Megumi joins uniformers(she seemed not all there when urara asked and considering that she hasn't proven to herself and the world that she is danjis successor her seeking greater strength is a possibility.)
- uniformers will seek out yu-yu: they have every reason to want yu yu on their side especially after this episode, he is strong, he is the first person to ever defeat michiru(as far as we know),the first person to make someone actually leave the uniformers, he defeated mirei which was an amazing feat according to everyone and they've lost michiru he can be a valuable asset should they get him. I doubt this will happen because zakusa is there and its likely gonna be a yuyu vs zakusa final fight but still it could happen especially when you remember the dark yuyu art from vairina esperaridea, i want to see dark yu yu for some reason idk
Danji's really out here pulling out the spiciest of spicy techs. What a chad.

That was really fun episode that ended on a serious and sad note.
This is probably my favorite episode of the season. I'm a big Danji fan and it was so cool to see a episode that was just peak Danji. AND THAT DRAJEWELED.
Great final episode of Season 2. I was not expecting Danji to pull out Drajeweled. This fight was probably one of the best one for this Season. I’m sad about Michiru😭 I can’t wait for Season 3 of will+Dress this summer

Bro... This cardfight was almost as hard as how the original series would go into it, showing off how dangerous it can be... but also how much fun it is to cardfight and how strong bonds are during it. This hurts man. Amazing episode, but painful. Not only that, but Jinki also being upset with his little AI over this, seeing Michiru's health be put in jeopardy like this, actually makes me feel for him a bit. I almost pegged him as a psychopath. I still might, but at least i know that he has a heart.
Danji, great move with the Drajeweled. I should have expected something like that, but I went for the obvious thought that you would go for a counter charge. "Not the most optimal or powerful move," Michiru said, "But it is the one that lead you to your future." In all honesty, I dunno anything more optimal than an unexpected, unoptimal, chance based strategy than that. It was high-risk high-reward, which is why it is suboptimal, but it paid off, making it the most optimal strategy out there. I can't wait to face something like this in Dear Days and Cardfight Area when i am with my friends. Truly, amazing cardfights to be held, but this one right here, will go down in history as one of the top fights, despite it not being as decorative with the units as the old show. Still, it was plenty flashy enough, and it held my attention till the very end. Amazing work. Keep up the good work, and I can't wait for next Friday.

This is the best one.
There has never been a more perfect, more nail-biting fight in all of the Vanguard anime. Normally, you can predict who will win based on what the story has been leading up to, and despite the fights being enjoyable to watch, it's often quite easy to figure it out. But *_Danji,_* being equally as much of a juggernaut as Michiru, held just as many routes to victory as his opponent.
The fact that the whole thing just fell apart into a dirty, scrappy mess, using whatever they could get their hands on and banking on trigger checks made it feel so much more real and that it really could have gone either way. I appreciate Danji's cries the most, the roar when he finds Bruce was nothing short of magical. He alone could bring life to a morgue, the man's energy is so raw, flawlessly driving home that feeling of just playing card games with friends.
And Vanguard dealing with something as long-term as a coma?? An insanely dark writing choice that I have so much respect for, especially considering that even Jinki; the until-now-big-bad of will+Dress, took issue with it.
I have been enjoying overDress as a whole so much and it just continues to get better, I'm so happy it's not just card advertisement any more, we've finally gone past that and it's truly incredible.
Also side note, I want to build Bruce-Jeweled now. 👀

@Ell Yes, we know that might be the case now, hence the "until-now-big-bad". It wasn't entirely clear whether or not it was just a tool being used by Uniformers until this point.
I mean when you break down Jinki's character Yes he's an antagonistic character, but he wasn't evil, Hell a few episodes ago Yu-Yu even said he doesn't disagree with the concept of the Uniformers, just the fact that they abandon their own style. And the fact that in his 2 fights he fought his opponents on more or less equal footing, using the same nation added some depth to his character
@SuperSayianWarrior You're right, he's not evil, he just has an ulterior motive, and he's framed as an antagonist early on. There wasn't really anyone else that would fit the bill until recent events, so I guess that's what I'm getting at. Since revealing that that we know he's not necessarily doing it for himself, it becomes a little more clear than he's not an inherently bad person, he's just kinda going about it in a way that others won't agree with.
So he *_was_* "big bad" as a placeholder for when the next one presented itself, which now appears to be the AI.
The ending gave me Dranzer vs Black Dranzer vibes x3 never thought they'd pull that, but I'm glad they did x3
Each week I think the episodes couldn't get more exciting, and they always go beyond my expectations. And damn...from the intro way back then I just knew that something was gonna happen to Michiru...Seeing Jinki getting angry over Michiru's health was interesting. Can't wait for next week. Also....Damn Zakusa looking real threatening here

I was surprised when danji just rode michiru’s ace against him, I didn’t expect that moment at all.
This episode was really a storm of emotions: first danji that soul charge an overtrigger was really a stroke of bad luck 😧, but then it happened to michiru too 😌, that danji that ride drajeweled really catch me off guard 🤯, in the last to turns i was really really afraid that danji would lose 😰, then danji called Bruce adressing at it as is "other self" like aichi with blaster blade 🤩, then michiru felt in coma 😢 (yes, i almost cried), we saw zakusa "transformation" 😳🥺😦😧😨 and the uniformers program was diffused in the all world probably 🥶. I really can't imagine what we will see in the next season

Not only was this season amazing; every episode was thrilling and enjoyable to watch from start to finish . Even more we got the most hype fight ever with an amazing twist and even a sad ending. See g this is how you kill off a character you don't have them appear once have him die then act like someone who knew him for a day needs o carry on his wishes. I digress great episode loved everything waiting for the next season will be killer but at least we dragon tree invasion released

Words cannot explain how intense and most realistic this fight was, definitely the best fight this season, both Danji and Michiru's Overtriggers were sent to the soul (so no OT BS), and how despite having bad boards right now both try and fight their way around them, also Danji riding into Drajeweled to destroy his own Masques form along with Viamence Bruce, which I found funny because it's like Drajewled said to his Masques form "Surprise b**** thought you can get rid of me that easily." Also 100% agree with Michiru's statement at the end of his first fight with Danji and this fight "It wasn't the strongest move or the most optimal. But it was a move that will lead you into the future." got a bit of G vibes with this one as well with the whole concept of the Future of Vanguard. Speaking of Michiru.
I'm glad that Michiru didn't actually die, I thought many times throughout this season that Michiru would die because of how the first episode showed what happened to him, though he's in a coma which is just as bad, but at least he's alive, I guess for now he will be out of the story, and will become a driving force for Danji, Yuyu, Raika, and the others to fight back against Uniformers.
Another Interesting thing here is the conversation between Jinki and Gui, Gui didn't stop Michiru because it's what he wanted, this might hint that Gui might betray Jinki at one point, I guess since Michiru is in a coma Zakusa will take over the role Michiru was given, which is he'll become a construct for the ultimate match.
Overall this season has more emotion to it more than ever also the tone got darker with all this Uniformers, Gui, and Masques units going about, don't know if will+Dress season 3 will be Yuyu and firends fighting back against Uniformers, but we'll see.

Normally I would be freaking hype for the match and I'm still am don't get me wrong.
But I fear that regardless of the outcome, the aftermath won't be pretty and that's putting it VERY lightly.
