John Carpenter's The Thing review - Greatest of All Time?

- John Carpenter's The Thing. This is one of my favorite movies ever, and easily my favorite horror film. I'd even argue that it's John Carpenter's best film, though I'm sure some would disagree. So, for Halloween, we're gonna talk about what makes this film so awesome.

John Carpenter's The Thing is my favourite horror film of all time. Of course I keep an open mind if anything could top it, but I've yet to come across a horror film that hits all the marks quite like The Thing.
One of my biggest complaints about horror movies is that once you see the monster, it's a lot less scary. That and because of that you don't really see the monster in it's full glory until the end of the movie. That's not the case with the thing. Due to the nature of the monster. You both get to see it front and center for most of the movie, and and because it's more of a living disease that can assume different forms. It looks completely different every time you see it.

Totally HELL YES! Much like the remake of Scareface, it's even better than the original! Hell, a great example of how to do a remake!
Norris does go into cardiac arrest, not what you're made to believe. Norris Thing is a perfect imitation of Norris which comes with his heart problems. When he is shocked once, moving to the 2nd the Thing cells activate self defense bite while blowing its cover having to attack and separate.
We see near the same thing
The answer is yes.
John has given many answers on The Thing. The breath thing is just lighting, Mac is right behind a fire. Childs is breathing, and even still The Thing shapes perfect imitation, it would be breathing.
But John wants no clues. He wants us to go nuts not knowing, just as originally we were mever supposed to know if Michael Myers was inhuman or immortal.

Btw, the revolver isnt a .44 Magnum, its a Colt Trooper Mk3 .357 Magnum, which for decades was what most cops carried between Colt, S&W and Ruger and between .38 Special and .357 Magnum. The lawman cartridge is a 125 grain JHP or JSP .357 Magnum.
I 1st saw it in 1994 when I was 7. Its always been a huge fan. Own it on VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, Scream Factory BD but not a 4K UBD.
This movie is up there with the first two Alien movies for me. It's top tier and needs a proper sequel. The ps2 game and comics were pretty good too.
Child's has an earing and I don't see why Carpenter would then change it, but I know Russell has said he purposely smoked cigarettes during the scene to add breath. So... something is being shown.
I always thought Mcready was the thing from the moment they see his clothes torn. First time I saw it I assumed neither or both, but am currently on the Both are things
