    I like your mindset on comfort. Roughing it when you're already stressed is only going to make you that much more stressed. People forget that.
    Imagine how your day goes in normal life when you're sleep deprived and hungry, now imagine in a really crazy shtf way.

    The tent will keep you a hell of a lot warmer too. Also I would still bring a tarp to put over your tent for extra protection from heavy rain

    A quick deploy ridgeline works awesome with that tent as well if there are trees close by. My son has the same tent and loves it.

  • @brawndothethirstmutilator9848

    I also keep powdered bone broth in my kit. Long storage protein and electrolytes that is “just add water”. Doesn’t get better than that.

    If youre going to carry and use that tent I would add a pair of trekking poles, that way you could set it up right away without having to cut or find limbs for the uprights. They also make poles for the same thing but the trekking poles are multi use, just a thought, and you could also set it up in areas without trees should that be necessary. Thanks for showing! 👍

    I first saw this tent on Corporals Corner channel and I really liked the looks so I bought it. I tested it with a water hose and nozzle spraying seams and found it to be waterproof. As far as holding it up I use a ridgeline to hold the tent upright and if you have trekking poles you can use those for the awning. The mosquito net is a huge plus for me here in the southeast. For one person there is plenty of room and honestly could fit two if your okay with putting your gear in the awning and just pulling it down if its going to rain or snow. This is a great design for a tent.

  • @srbontrager
    @srbontrager Před 18 dny

    I did the same a few months. Swapped my tarp setup for a tent. I went with the Litefighter Fido 1 AI kit, as it is a 4 season with the windbreaker fly. This way, I'll be equipped for all four seasons. Another thing that sold me on it was the openings on both sides for better airflow in the summertime.
    With a bit of Googling, I found two big advantages your tent has over mine. Firstly, cost, with it being less than a 1/4 of what I paid for mine. Secondly, weight. Yours weighs less than half of mine.

    Today I got lost in thought thinking about different SHTF scenarios. One thing crossed my mind, that I haven’t heard anyone ever talk about when it comes to preparing. That is always making sure you have some for of ID (drivers license, passport, birth certificate, etc). Here’s my reasoning why; as soon as inevitably meet some type of government worker, that’s the first thing they’ll ask you. I can’t even imagine the consequences of getting caught by them without one if SHTF

    • @brandonspivey5282
      @brandonspivey5282 Před 5 dny

      I think everyone needs to have copies of birth certificates, driver's licenses, etc in a bug out or get home bag. Because like you said in an shtf situation, the government's first response is likely going to be trying to keep people contained or at least to the best of their ability. Know where the population is moving around so there will be check points on roads. There will probably be door-to-door searches etc. And in that situation like you said there you do not want to be caught without some sort of identifying documentation

    my one tip would be to make an energy drink mix. you're gonna be expending lots of energy rucking trying to get home or getting the fuck away. my go to is maltodextrin and gatorade powder (the big tub) 2:1 ratio. gonna keep you kicking for quite some time and packs down and weighs next to nothing.

    • @splift23
      @splift23 Před 16 dny

      @@thatonechick276 that’s a complete myth, caffeine is a very mild diuretic and the amount of water you would be ingesting while drinking the mix would make the diuretic effects of caffeine a moot point. I definitely doesn’t dehydrate you at 2x the rate after consuming it either.

    I have my backpack, battlebelt and chest rig. Bushcraft guys need to learn off hikers. Plus hikers need to learn off bushcraft people. Im getting a lightweight quilt soon. I have my silkyboy saw. Weight matters a lot. More weight more calories. Tents dont keep us warm. A folding lightweight mat is great. I cut mine in half long way. I need only spinal and hip bone support. Also trekking poles are light and can be used for a trekking pole tent or simply a tarp. My titinum small stove is great. Plus old school esbit fire tabs for quick coffee. Bushcraft guys carry way to much heavy gear. Between my backpack, battlebelt and chest rig its all still heavy but more balanced. Unlike a hiker im looking at more long term survival. With my ar6 stinger 2 repeating crossbow and slingshot for small game. Plus of coarse passive fishing and small game gear. I have my hammock. Preferred but i can use my tarp. I just call it my survival gear for whatever.
