Yep, you’ve got love the Ruahines bro!!! Have hunted them for thirty five years. We always camp high, so we can hear roaring stags over the creek noise. Cheers for the vid. 🍻😎

@@hardantlerhunting9691 😉 Given the difficulty in traversing a lot of the Ruahine terrain, in recent years we’ve transitioned into long range banging. Sitting behind the bino’s, spotting the stags, then knocking them over. Thereafter heading over for the collection, with basically an empty pack (pillow slips, knife & mobile phone for some pic’s). These days I dislike losing my elevation, unless it is for the meat & antler recovery!!! 😁

@@warwickgibbs6303 Yea nice man. Do you find the deer stay high in altitude through the winter? I found that at every level the deer numbers were really good. Sign everywhere.

@@hardantlerhunting9691 In the mainstay, all elevations have their resident deer. Once established, the hinds stay put, while the stags have their favourite roar grounds. In winter the snowfalls briefly push the deer lower. When spring unfolds, as the new growth ascends up the valleys, the deer definitely regain their height (following the spring growth). These days, finding a deer to shoot in the Ruahines isn’t that difficult, however trophy Ruahine red stags are few & far between. I’ve always referred to hard antler Ruahine stags as ‘Ruahine Rats’!!! 😁

Great vid mate, some nice gear too. I hope you weren’t camping downstream from that landslide/dam, could be pretty major if that lets go all of that water.

Cheers. I camped above it that's for sure. Would be cool to see it rip though

Mean video. I'd be too busy hunting to pick up the camera and/or drone. Well done. Really nice up close footage too which is nice to see, as a lot of Go Pro head cam stuff doesn't pick up the animals. Regards condensation, while it appears you have a two wall tent, there doesn't appear to be much venting at the bottom and it's very small, so your in a sweat box there - need airflow through the tent. If you can camp above water and away from it, and possibly under the greenery, you'll get a much better result.

good vid, you should take your own advice and hunt to the car without your rifle in the scabbard.
