- This video was originally shared on our Instagram stories. Annie and hubby Will take us along on another Guinea pig rescue 911. Pepper the Guinea pig was pregnant and surrendered to a local shelter. She is very young and was underweight when we got her. Shelters in SoCal are absolutely full of guinea pigs. In our nearly 2 decades of rescuing we've never seen it this bad. It's heartbreaking that we can't pull them all but we're doing what we can. Pregnant mamas always worry us because the shelter environment is far too stressful for them to give birth in. We are happy we could help Pepper.
Southern California Guinea Pig Rescue (SCGPR) is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of neglected, abandoned, and at-risk Guinea Pigs.
Our adoptable Guinea Pigs are cared for in homes by foster volunteers, and our organization operates entirely on donations. Our network spans the whole of Southern California, and we work to serve every community throughout Orange County, Los Angeles County, and Ventura County.

Thank you for making a difference for her. It's heartbreaking to see so many Piggies at the shelter but you definitely changed a life for the better. It's good to know the shelter is giving good food and vitamin C
Thank you! And yes Annie and I were really happy to see the shelter giving vitamin C and providing good care.
Thanks for saving this adorable family.
We couldn’t say no to their mama!

Lol boys know these things!
This is both heartbreaking and heart warming. Glad mum and babies are doing well.
Thank you we’re glad they’re all doing well
those tiny babies!
❤️
My first guinea pig was a female Abyssinian. I named her Matthew.
No greens before going to sleep? She's pregnant and needs nutrients fast. I hope you ate feeding high nutrition and lots of food besides hay.
Rest assured she’s got everything she needed including greens! I’m sorry if you got the impression that we don’t feed our piggies veggies l, especially the pregnant ones. Thank you for your concern though.
@Southern California Guinea Pig Rescue I didn't insinuate you didn't feed your guinea pigs greens. Just concern for the new one that was settling in as you just got her. Some might choose to just give hay their first night but not if pregnant and a rescue that is thin, as you stated needs a lot of food. I thought it was maybe late at night or you were going to feed greens in the morning. I feed dinner greens. Some feed morning greens, some feed both morning and evening greens. I'm glad she got greens that day.
