    The soft tone of this piano sounds amazing, and it's such a bonus that there is still a larger dynamic range than a typical felt piano. It's great stuff!

    Wow, I’ve never heard of a felt piano before but this sounds exquisite. I’d say the type of piano you want to listen to on a rainy afternoon, sitting next to your window with a cup of tea and the scent of damp leaves and wood in the air…
    This sounds similar to the piano backing in These Shores, and I totally agree, it blends perfectly with your tone of music. Misty, delicate and distinctly sweet. I can’t wait to hear more of your songs with your new piano!!

      @MarcusWarnerMusic  Před 2 lety +8

      That's funny you should mention These Shores, I played it on the piano before it was restored and it was the similarity in sound that was part of what sold me!

      @@MarcusWarnerMusic Also happened to be the song I was listening to when I found your post😉 And I have to say, I simply love that song. I don’t even remember when I found it, but at some point I did, and suddenly I had it on repeat every morning. Personally my favorite thing about it was the lyrics; incredibly poetic, especially ‘count the planes leaving scars across the sky’. It helped me a lot when I was under pressure, always so soothing!

      you know you hear a felt piano when your sheete low end speakers start to literally shake inside of their plastic housing, thats how you know its a felt piano, and honestly its the most annoying thing ive heard... And i love it, i just wish i had the proper speakers for it because to me it sounds like a clipped SINE WAVE

    Hey Marcus, your music has helped me so much, especially here in college. I listen to it when I do work and when I walk to class in the mornings (you’re top 5 on my Spotify wrapped). Everyone I’ve showed your music to so far has loved it! Every time I listen, the helplessness depression of college work goes away a little bit, haha…

    Hello Marcus, I may just be another listener, but I just wanted to thank you for how much your music has got me through in difficult times. I believe I found your music almost a year and a half ago, and since then it's served as a sort of "sanctuary" for me, and I hope it does so as I soon head off into college. I've loved the sound of the piano through your music, and I can't describe the peace it brings me whenever I listen. Thank you for simply doing what you do. It means a lot :)

    Hi Marcus, thank you so much for this interesting video, I really enjoyed watching it (3:06 was hilarious, great editing! :D). I like how you told the story how you found and then sampled it - have fun with it, it sounds like a very cool instrument. And thank you for making this available to us too, instantly downloaded it.
    Regarding the felt question: I always had a problem with (sampled) felt pianos in that way that you couldn't really transition into the epic, big sound of a quite loud piano smoothly - and this sounds like it could be a solution. I'm looking forward too testing the vsti out. Cheers! :)
    PS: As a German I can say: Blüthner is pronounced with a "t", but I like the sound of it with a "th" too. :P

    Absolutely amazing sound. It's simply exquisite. I've been contemplating adding some videos featuring felt to our collection, but considering my father's nearly 70 years of experience playing the piano, it would be strange to impose any limitations on his artistry. Thank you for generously sharing this beautiful piano version with us.

    So the unique thing about that bluthner is that the hammers overstrike the strings and hit at a slight angle as opposed to the normal 90 degrees you get on most instraments. When you pair that with a softer voiced hammer it results in that tone you like so much. I have run accross those before and while I cannot say I like their custom action they had in those (possibly replaced by however rebuild your piano) the sound of them is really nice. Remmonisant of the 1840s erards and pleyel pianos which had a more harplike and softer quality to them. Though what is nice about this era bluthner is you still have power if you want it. I have always liked them.

    • @MarcusWarnerMusic

    Watching people moving pianos gives me heart palpitations and this was no different. Especially when they slightly dropped it down at one point. Eek!!

    I have always had really old (like over 100 years old kind of old) upright pianos, but it has always been a dream of mine to have a grand. I just love their sound. I know every piano sounds slightly different depending on the brand, but what would be sort of be an equivalent to this one that you just got? Or just a general recommendation? The sound of it is just incredible. I'm excited for you and all the songs that you might create from it.

    • @MarcusWarnerMusic
      @MarcusWarnerMusic  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks Katie! I'm not sure what you mean by equivalent, as in, a piano that sounds like this but isn't a Blüthner? I'm not sure I can really think of one off the top of my head. I would just get a Blüthner if you can haha. It is possible however to have a piano 'voiced' - as in, softening the hammers to make the sound warmer, or replacing with new harder hammers to brighten it - if you find a piano you love to play but it's not quite right tonally.

    • @zackeryhardy9504
      @zackeryhardy9504 Před 2 lety

      Depends. I have seen pretty decent quality pianos that only needed some basic regulation, a hammer filing, and some voicing that were listed for free. But also a lot of pianos that will cost far more to fix than they were worth new. I highly recommend asking a tech to look at it first. Ideally have them tune the piano so they can tell you the state of the pinblock. along with any other issues that may pop up. Avoid rusted strings. Avoid base strings that no longer have a shine to them. Check for bridge cracks and listen for any buzzing coming from soundboard cracks. And remember that you still will have to pay for the maintenance of the instrument which depending on your area may be more than its worth. To tune the piano may be 150 USD in a city with 300 dollar tunings for rural areas far away from the major cities. Not to mention you are likely going to be spending at least 300 dollars to move the piano to your location.
