But it seems that one more country has appeared in this elite row - South Korea, which made a real sensation with its KF-21 Boramae aircraft, which translates from Korean as Young Hawk. This video conceives many errors. First, the video tells that only 167 F-16C/D are the modern jets in ROKAF. But South Korea has 39 F-35A as well as 59 F-15K(mentiioned in this video). I don't know why it isn't told that South Korea has 39 F-35A in nowadays, South Korea, operating 39 F-35A in nowadays, has ordered 20 additional F-35A. The Lockheed Martin's participation in the development of KF-21 has been carried out in accordance with the contract for South Korea to purchase 40 F-35A from 2019 to 2021. Additionally, this video says that South Korea has 150 F-5E/F. Nope. In nowadays, only 4 squadrons in 10th FW(Fighter Wing), 18th FW are operating approximately 80 F-5E/F that KF-21 are going to replace.

KF-21 has two variants built. Single seaters (#1, #2, #3, #5) and double seaters(#4, #6). #7 and #8 are not meant for flight test. They are permanently grounded for modification test. Total, 8 aircrafts were built. I believe about ten test pilots are involved, many of whom beling to the Air Force. Escort is provided by the Air Force.

The cost for r&d and testing and the integration of air2air missiles is just over 6 bil. USD.
Its about time they built their own. They have enough american jets to get design Q's to learn enough to finally build something of their own. I don't see how anyone can say that the f4 phantom is outdated. With some new upgrades and a gun its still one of the most dangerous jets out there. They are fast enough and with enough power to be revelant for some long time.

I am A Old marine I've seen what the f4 can do it was built like a tank fast as hell only needed a gun. The f 4 was one of the fastest jets in Vietnam. The only problem was no gun.
Most jets that are high performance have high down time. Excessive abuse leads to a whole lot of down time.

I wish they brought the f-23 prototype plans. It was much better than the f-22. Especially when you here how much the f-22 copied technology from the f-23.
The f-23 also doesn't need thrust vector to do the same stunts making matainance cheaper. It was also stealthier than the f-22 without RAM applied. It stored more fuel and more weapons. An yes faster cruse speed.
It was just better.

Another time wasting channel to block
The KF-21 is a good looking aircraft, but is reliant an a lot of foreign technology and is very expensive to produce, more than 2 x F-16V's. This is causing much concern, similar to Japan's dilema with its F2 fighter, roughly equivalent to F-16 but costing much more to build. It looks stealthy, but is still a 4th generation fighter, carrying its weapons on pylons.
F-16V price tag is around $70m which is about the same price as KF-21 is. :) Not expensive given when it's stealthy and carry more internal fuel.
The KF-21 is still a project with a few prototypes flying and will not enter production until 2026 at the earliest. Its the aviation press that are saying its too expensive for what it is, a fairly basic 4th Gen non-Stealth fighter. The project cost so far is 80 Billion.

Any jet that does most of the missions and most of the dangerous missions like Iron hand , wild weaseal they are most likely to be shot down the most or need the most down time. If you can think about it. And now every jet that is built is in one way or another a copy of an American jet. When you are the best and the first all others are wannabes. All these countries are trying to play catch up and they think by copying American designs is going to do it.. Countries like south Korea a country I trained in with their Marines are no where as good as the US Marines are playing catch up. The South Korean air farce are still trying to build 5th gen aircraft the United States are already working on 7th gen air craft and what they will need to be on top of the game. I don't know

Sounds like you never heard F35s drop like flies. Sudden engine troubles of F35 crashed at least 3 or 4 of them around the world already, and it can’t even fire machine guns in the air, thus can’t do a dog fight. The astronomical costs of maintaining the stealth can’t even be afforded by the US. That’s why the US is trying to develop a cheaper, non-stealth fighter plane. Now that sounds like F35s are the true American poops.

SK needs to acknowledge that their up n coming defense indusrty has its roots in collaboration with US military industrial complex and its support to allow Korean engineers onto the factory floor to learn how to make tanks, howitzers, fighters, and electronics.... This coming from a Kor-born
