The Benelli SP'Auto is a clay shoot where 3-shot semi autos are welcome, as is a much more relaxed approach to the sport, making for one of he most fun 100 bird courses out there - perfect for children like us!
We were lucky enough to have a good go with the Benelli Ethos Supersport and the new A400 sporting on the course, which performed as you would expect - brilliantly

That’s what it’s all about , fun 🤩 . When you are worried about what score you get it’s time for a rethink , or as the venerable Elmer Fudd said “pesky wabbit “ 😂
The “score” is what makes it fun. Friendly competition is where it’s at. I’ll take a low score over a “participant” ribbon every time.
@@davedunn7759 each to their own , wouldn’t do for everyone to be the same . I don’t even take a score card , only missed 5 last Saturday and shot hundred . The misses I do count but just for my benefit . 50 with Benelli 828U 30 inch with 1/4 and 1/2 extended chokes and 50 with a old Franchi Brescia semi auto inertia 27 inch with fixed 1/4 choke . Keeps me happy 😃 even if I miss loads

Seriously looking forward to shooting the Benelli SP auto this year we need more auto comps of this a quality the barbury auto master and Benelli SP auto are both a month apart this year and I cannot wait !!!

Great video Josh, that was fun to watch the shoot, seem like everyone had a great time. That gun was definitely a little short for you mate. Luckily for me my draw length is at 35.5cm which makes almost every gun out there perfect for me.
I shot this competition some years ago it was great!

I have one I purchased recently. 12 ga w/ 30" barrel. Only have put a couple hundred rounds through it. Haven't had any mechanical issues with it. It's a light gun so recoil will be felt if you're shooting 100+ rounds. The main selling point for me was its looks.

@@tgsoutdoors i didn't shoot it I was down there sorting out memberships, I would have struggled with it ,I've only been shooting about 5 times 😂

I’m a newbie had my first round of clays Sunday just gone I scored 41 was in a group of 5 best score was 76 the other guys we’re experienced shooters so for a first time don’t think I did too bad🤷♂️

However stupid it sounds - when I remember to, yes. It’s significantly more tiring to consistently close or squint an eye than I accounted for. I have got some tape but like my glasses to much to do it to them (I’m also booked for a session with Mr Lyons later this year that I’m hoping will yield some interesting results)

That makes sense haha.. just starting on my shooting 'career' and finding I'm having to Dim an eye just before I take the shot to see a clearer sight picture, so for me that video was a great relief for me....I look forward to seeing the Lyons video, if you do one 😎

Not a fan of the semi auto. I feel uncomfortable around them at a busy shooting ground. Chamber flags should be compulsory or kept in a slip when not shooting.
My clay ground requires the bolt be locked back at all times until in the box, no flags required.
Seems safer to me than an over under sitting closed on a gun stand.
It doesn't matter what type of action. It's where the muzzle is pointed. Having over and under users constantly having their shotgun slung over their shoulders and not caring where the muzzles are pointed is far and away the biggest gun safety issue I see everywhere.

I see no way an over/under poses any danger of negligent discharge with the action open.
@@basshnter1997 Neither does a semi auto. But that isn't the point. The point is regardless of the type of action, the rules of firearm safety are the same for all. Rule #1: Never let your muzzle be pointed at anything you do not intend to kill.
Note that there is no exception to that rule that says it's okay if you're carrying an o/u with the action open. From 30 ft away all I can see is the barrels of that gun that is casually slung over your shoulder pointed directly back at me. I cannot see that your action is broken and even if it is see firearm safety rule number one. You are still not controlling your muzzle properly.

2.Never said an over/under is exempt from any firearm safety rule.
3. Not everyone who carries an over/under over there shoulder is doing so with reckless disregard for muzzle discipline.
for an auto the recoil is to high on Benelli's.....
