RIP Billy, you will be missed you absolute legend. As if the previous episode wasn't enough of a tearjerker. "I Remember you" is one of my favorite episodes of the series. I love how Ice King is just jamming along until the line "But I remember that I saw you frown, I swear it wasn't me, it was the crown". That look of concern and confusion at that line, like Simon is just under the surface, having a moment of near lucidity, then right back to jamming as Simon slips back to the depths. It's so heartbreaking. Basically everything involving Marceline and the ice king is a highlight
So what will the channel's fans be called now? "Liches"?

When I was younger I did not know what was going on w ice king n Marceline at the end I legitimately thought him being crazy was his gimmick n she just wanted him to go away (shows I wasn’t paying attention) n when the lich tricked Finn i didn’t realized it till PB pointed it out

"I Remember You" is undoubtedly one of the greatest episodes of this show. It's always heartbreaking learning more of Ice King's past and how his insanity affected everyone around him. But I just love that he still remembers her songs. Also, The Lich taking over Billy is one of the most tragic moments in the show. This is where things get serious. RIP to a legend. You will be forever missed.

43:32 the dynamic between Marceline and Ice King was by far the best arc in the show. And of course Rebecca wrote this. I heard she was going through a rough time when she wrote this song, which probably made the episode more melancholy than expected.
Poor Ice King. He sacrificed his soul, the very essence of who he was, and still they call him villain. Ice King is the true hero of Adventure Time.

I do feel bad for black Lemongrab, like, if you consider how chill the white Lemongrab seems by comparison - it's clear that while Lemongrab is "strange", his overly violent tendecies are prolly a result of how he's been isolated ever since he was created.
It's sad to see how he completely understands that in some form he's inherentky different from literally everyone else, but lacks the capability to deal with it, especially since he was always alone.
PB thought this would be right for him cause he has a hard time being with other people, but she's clearly failed in making sure he was really okay.
Also it is funny that Lemongrab does seemingly have the legal right to stalk candy people, cause he is PB's actual heir - it's just the standing in their rooms part that was considered too far.

I need everyone to understand the absolute jumpscare that happened at the end of the original airing of I Remember You. You see the cutest scene of Marceline getting Hambo from Simon as the episode ends...only for the immediate next thing on the screen to be the Lich's face zooming into the screen. It was the preview for the next episode and it was territying.

Most of the things she asks are of some importance to their world and stuff. She does give them quests that are more beneficial for her, but like... she is not commanding them to do it, she is not threatening their livelihood in case of insubordination and she praises them acknowledging the title both Finn and Jake hold, "Heroes".

Bonnabel is as bad as possible without being an actually evil person. It's sorta like how rose did a ton of bad things but has never genuinely meant to harm anyone and usually does so because she has a dysfunctional personality. Every single flashback episode pretty much shows Bonnie adheres to every stereotype for mad scientists monarchs and genius's. She obviously gets better over the course of the series though.

"I Remember You" is probably one of Rebecca Sugar's best writing that's nor related to Steven Universe. Everything about it was perfect, especially how all three music pieces were sang differently in the same beat. Such a good story within 11 minutes of time frame.
Agreed. One of the best 11 minutes of television I've ever seen. After I first saw this episode all those years ago, I became an eternal Rebecca Sugar fan and swore I would watch or listen to any future media they created.
Holly Jolly Secrets might be the episode that recontextualized Ice King, but I Remember You is the episode that PEOPLE WENT COMPLETELY FERAL and obsessed with Simon. For the most part you're on the right track; keep in mind those dad vibes Simon has with Marceline. THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT.
So regarding Marceline's biological dad, Hunson Abadeer, something to keep in mind is this: the earliest memory of them around each other at ALL was Memory Of A Memory when Marceline found him eating her fries (when she implicitly had nothing else TO eat at all), and nothing before that. Here, she is very clearly alone until Simon finds her. Something else to consider is that in the storyboards, she is EXPLICITLY described as a toddler. Assuming that he was a part of her life at LEAST until that early appearance of Hunson eating her fries being early-mid teenage years, that's still the entirety of a formative part of her life.
Simon Petrikov wasn't just some guy, he was her adoptive dad, and this CHANGED SO MUCH in the fandom. Simon went from being a tragic example of what the Ice Kinng once was, to making him a fallen hero; he was a good man who took care of a little demon girl feared by everyone else in the post apocalypse, even as he was losing his mind to the crown, and now he doesn't remember himself, or her... just that she's important to him, even if he doesn't understand why anymore.
Fun fact: the episode with Flame King's attempted assassination, the whole sequence is loosely based on Shakespeare's Hamlet - the story revolves around the vengeful prince who's evil uncle married the queen after her husband (Hamlet's dad) died and Hamlet is then greeted by the ghost of his dad who tells him that his uncle killed him by pouring poison in his ear. Hamlet then puts on a play about the king's death and studies his uncle's guilty reactions. There's a lot more in the story tho but it was so cool to see Adventure Time do it :D it's one of my all time faves of Shakespeare

The Marceline and Ice King story is what got me to watch Adventure Time, and I’m so glad I did because it’s such a fun show. Iirc "I Remember You" was one of the last episodes Rebecca Sugar worked on for AT before leaving to create Steven Universe. It's one of the biggest Ws in her portfolio.
The Ice King thing gets me every time. Because it's kind of a bigger reveal that he a) is old enough to remember what before the war was... B) he survived whatever happened and found kid Marceline. C) had the Ice Crown and Enchiridion either pre war or shortly after the apocalypse (we don't know at this point)
And D) Simon was clearly a very smart and resourceful dude who sacrifices pieces of himself using the crown and he *knows* he'll eventually lose himself completely in the pursuit of protecting Marceline having to use the crown. That he isn't just some crazy old dude. He's literally lost in his madness after presumably sacrificing himself rather than going mad or bad out of greed or something selfish.
It's almost a nothing episode that is really a huge lore dump.
Simon did have both the crown and the Enchiridion before the war, literally in Holly Jolly Secrets Part 2 we see that video where Simon shows off the crown and everything looks normal, also in this episode there was that newspaper clipping with Simon holding the Enchiridion which definitely was published before the Mushroom War.
Well that part also made a bit clearer to me why marceline was so upset that her father ate her fries.
It must have been a gift from Simon(or Ice king) after he met Marceline in one of the times she found her and wanted to hang out, Abadeer did mention that the fries "They weren't even very good; they were really cold.". And in the episode where we see marceline's memories we can see she is already sad/upset and teary eyed before entering the dinner.
I love Bubblegum ,her actions are justified and when the show is over i think you would agree . She isn't bad ,she just does things most people are afraid or unable to do .
She did horrible things and later in the story, she pays for everything and learns from the mistakes she made, that's why I like her

Nah, she's straight up evil but it isn't like she has a humans morality. Lemongrab is probably one of her worst offenses. Not to mention in the Candy Kingdom, she allows abusive parents who don't love their kids. And has several intentionally created orphans and psych ward patients... Yeah no, she sucks and is a tyrant but she is immensely entertaining and a cool concept for a princess

You guys are right, Bubblegum isn't a good person. BUT...... she isn't a bad person either. She does morally questionable things but does them with the intention of protecting the people she cares about. The lich wearing billys corpse as a suit scarred me as a kid 🙆♂️ that shit had me shook for 3 days
my grandpa died after 3 years of dementia in september of 2012, when i was 11, when that episode came out, i was still sad about it, but it was the first time i could cry about it, since then, i can't see this song without crying, not because i find it sad, but because like simon, he was the only father figure i had, i can understand marceline as a character, when he had dementia he said or did bad stuff, back when he was alive i didn´t understand, i thought i was doing something bad or that he hated me, i felt so bad after hearing the lyrics, cartoons are powerfull because i finally understood that he was not doing it because he hated me or because i was bad, everything bad he did on those 3 years, was because of dementia, before that, he was such a good person, even when i came out a few days before, simon and marceline arc is a masterpiece.
The thing that’s crazy about this season finale. When Finn dreamed about The Lich killing Billy, he killed billy through his guts and skinned him to wear him as a disguise to trick Finn. That’s such a morbid way to go, but what else could you expect from a evil entity called The Lich

Remember that 1 was abandoned by their mother, Frankenstein's monster style upon its creation, whereas the other was created already with a best friend who could understand his lemon ways. The whole "acting out a conspiracy on stage to see who feels guilty in the audience because they were involved in an actual conspiracy" is an actual plot point from Hamlet.
The insane fact is that Billy is really dead cuz the Lich was literally wearing his skin and that's what's messed up about Billy's turnout.
"I Remember You" is still my favorite episode in the entire series! It hits so many notes perfectly. Flushing out Simon and Marceline, Expanding the aftermath of the Great Mushroom War, and creating a tragic, yet beautiful story about dementia and how it affects everyone involved!
The episode hits even harder if you have family or friends who are dealing with dementia or other mental illnesses. The episode genuinely makes me cry every time I rewatch it on my own. My grandma on my mother's side is going through the same thing and it really sucks.

Reign of Gunthers had one of (if not THE) most iconic lines in the spanish dub for the show, right when Ice King finds Gunther with his stuff instead of following what the original dub said he said ''Gunther, TE VOLVISTE REGUETONERO!?'' (Gunther, you became a reguetonero?) which was such a funny jab to the artists of that music genre it became a meme right then and there
I remember you is still one of my favorite AT episodes to this day, the entirety of Ice King and Marceline dynamic is just so sad yet so well played during the show, it's one of the best arcs here easily and this is just the beginning of it
And lastly The Lich... While I can argue that the previous episode can be the one that started the change of tone the show had this episode makes it much more palpable, here you can feel that this show just became something different and the death of Billy sure shows it, even after all these years when I saw this episode for the first time I still get chills at the end when they show the Finn from the other dimension. It just leaves you wanting more after it ends...
These guys, some months ago met Billy from Adventure Time and decided they would call their community Billy. And here, though i know this ep was recorded a while ago, they saw Billy's demise.
Something really dark about the lich in Billy is that the lich killed him and is wearing his skin.
Probably no one has mentioned it, but if you see the dream with the old woman on top of the bear and then her talking to Billy while she's being eaten alive, you can get an idea of what her fate was.

Marceline was born a half-demon, her mother a human and her demon father Hunson. She became the vampire queen later on, as a child she doesn't have the bitemarks on her neck. How that exactly happened will be explored in season 7.

The arc of the Ice King is so tragic. He saved Marceline by using the magic of the crown, even though he knew that the crown was slowly taking him over and driving him mad. It hits a chord too...the adult making sacrifices for a child, but when the child grows up, leaving the parent behind. Of course he's lonely. And his losing his mind (dementia) and the pain it causes him and Marcy. He doesn't understand that he's being harmful, and she is torn between staying out of the painful relationship and feeling guilty for not being there for him. Such good writing.
I don't have any sentiment for Adventure Time yet "I remember you" always makes me cry.
That 1 2 punch of Simon and the Lich is insane. Fun detail, the reason Marcy was so upset over the loss of Hambo was because it was given to her by Simon and was likely the last thing she had that reminded her of him

The best way to describe PB is that she’s a student of the John Hobbes political school. His philosophy is that our greatest fear is violent death. Therefore the ruler needs to have complete and total power. All citizens must follow their directives. In return the ruler must make their realm safe and secure to prevent violent death from war or crime. Yes that’s an oversimplification but it’s accurate.
Episode 25 is sooo good! Marceline was already my favorite character in this show before this, but this episode made me appreciate her even more. I also felt bad for Ice king way before "I remember You", and this episode opened a whole new perspective for me on Ice King when I first saw it.

I remember when " I remember you" droped and everybody was in tears and in shock. We had multiple theories and kinda had an idea of what was going on with the ice king but that episode was just so beautiful. And I still listen to "remember you" very often.

One of the big lessons we get with PB is that there are multitudes within all of us. Sometimes she's good sometimes she's not. Oh the next few episodes are great but you already know that.

"I remember you" also helps understand a small detail on why Marceline was so upset that her father ate her fries.
in the episode "It Came from the Nightosphere," when Abadeer apologizes for eating Marceline's fries he also added "They weren't even very good; they were really cold." hinting that the fries might have been a "gift" from Simon or ice king in one of his times he found her and wanted to hang out after he had lost his mind.
That is also reinforced (in my opinion) in "memory of a memory" when Finn is looking at Marceline's memory of her father eating the fries, Marceline is n tears when she enters the dilapidated dinner, meaning she had already a sad encounter with someone before this scene and my guess is that that someone was Simon/Ice king.
Also one thing that many react youtubers miss is that the plushy Simon gives to Marceline is "Hambo", the plushy she considers her most precious possession.

@@cjjackson2423 yeah they don't feel pain, i don't think PB would hurt someone for here pleasure, she is not sadist, i agree that that time she cooled the fire kingdom was very cruel, but I know she didn't do it out of malice, that was a desperate act because she was afraid that the fire people would attack the candy kingdom, she always saw them as a threat, Phoebe's brother was actually considering attacking, because like it or not, the fire people are evil, Phoebe is just an exception, Bubblegum was simply wanting to prevent a war from happening, even though her methods were kind of doubtful, deep down she is just an overprotective mother, who would do anything to protect her children.

Ok, so in latam, they changed the dialogue because the directors thought moking reggueton singers was fun, as they are often seen using jewels and stuff like that, so they said "Gunther, you became a reggueton singer!"
I understand it's not what the original english version says, but latam usually does a bunch of dub jokes like those. It's been that way for decades, like how "R2D2" is known as "Arturito" or "Kermit" is known as "René"
