E. Kendricks had the prettiest falsetto voice EVER. His time on earth was over far too soon And this song was over too soon also. Keep On Truckin Baby!!
You're exactly right. Eddie fulfilled his mission on this Earth, then he left us. Reminiscent of a shooting star. He came into view, blazed brightly, then disappeared. He brought us joy with his beautiful voice. He was sooo handsome, women still swoon and drool over him. I am one of those women. If I was around back then, I would have been a stalker. I love Eddie Kendricks!💞💋💞
I remember getting mad at the radio station when the DJs played the short version of this song! I was just getting warmed up, and it would be over. Thank you whoever posted this version; it's the bomb! Hey, all you 50 and up year olds--do you remember the Funky Breakdown? I can still do that and the Bump! But don't ask me to do the Rock--hurts my thighs too much! LOL!
Loved this song by Eddie Kendricks it reminds me of my US Army years 1973 to 19777 I’m from the East Coast and we had our own style of dancing! I’m a very conservative type person and dancing reflects it😊🎶🎶🎶✌️
Gotsta, gotsta, gotsta be one of the coolest extended versions of any pop song EVER EVER IN LIFE!. Producers and arrangers KILLED THIS FOR REAL. RIP Eddie...thanks forever for all your blessings.
This 8 minute version is the album version. It's the length Kendricks wanted. First song, second (B) side of LP: 8 minutes long. The single was Keep On Truckin' (Part 1) with Part 2 on the flip. Not sure if those two equal the full album version in length. Probably not on a 45.
What a artist.we all loved eddie.and brown man and black man and red man lived in peace.rip u wonderful soul funky talented man.this white kid in 70s used to have to listen to eddie before I hit kitchen at officers club at vint hill farms va 1978.
Eddie hit the national top 40 4 times in his career-"Keep On Truckin', Pt. 1" in 1973, "Boogie Down" and "Son of Sagittarius" in 1974 and "Shoeshine Boy" in 1975. "Truckin'" and "Boogie Down" went to #1 and #2 respectively. After Eddie left The Temptations never had another #1 single and only hit the top 10 once--"Masterpiece" in early 1973. David Ruffin hit the top 10 twice--"My Whole World Ended (The Moment You Left Me)" in 1969 and "Walk Away from Love" in 1975.
I remember my Dad loving this song...I love it too.....My dad died 6 years ago today....He was a truck driver...........I also am a truck driver.....WOW.........this brings back so many memories.....Thank You

What a great tune! I still recall the first time I ever heard this song... it was late on a Saturday night during the Christmas break in 1974. One of my childhood hobbies was tuning in AM radio stations from far away (from my home in Albuquerque). One of my favorite stations to listen to was the late, great XROCK 80 (remember them?) If I recall correctly, it was Wolfman Jack who spun the disc that night.
The music from this era was so energetic and it made you feel good. We used to have so much fun dancing and playing music during our block parties in Newark, New Jersey.

I've been wanting to hear this song for a while. Whoever lived in my house 20 years before me wrote "keep on truckin" on my bedroom ceiling, and it's been there ever since. Never knew what it meant until now. Awesome.
The 70s were the best as a young boy the music was all over the place. I remember this tune blasting out of my AM radio that I attached to my bike. Eddie Kendrick had that soulful voice that made this song go. And like someone once said every hero has to have a good theme song. I’m taking this one.
Thank you for posting this long (album) version of this classic dance track, still relevant to today - the Temptations, Eddie Kendricks, David & Jimmy Ruffin, Dennis Edwards - keep playing, keep on jumping - DAVEDJ
Happy Birthday in Paradise Edward James Kendricks, you are truly missed, but you are still living through your music.Keep on Trucking in heaven Eddie Baby!!!
Eddie hit #1 in Billboard, 11-10-73. Too bad brother Eddie was a chain smoker. Most likely contributed to his death from lung cancer in his early 50's. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!
Love the vibes and the clavinet. Was 13 when this song came out, playing classical piano. But when I heard that clav, I decided that I wanted to do that.
THE SOUL MUSIC OF THE SEVENTIES WILL ALWAYS STAND ALONE AS THE GREATEST OF THE GREATEST!!

Boy, that Hammond B-3 organ at the end of this song takes it over the top for me! That drummer is taking no prisoners. What a stone cold jam!!!

I had the Keep On Truckin' T-shirt. 1974. Very cute and cool. Was 15. This is the best era of 70's music. Funk. Oh yeah, I was a jr. Hippy Chick.
A #1 hit for Eddie Kendricks on the Rhythm & Blues charts. It was the 276 #1 R&B song of the Rock Era. It also hit #1 on the Top 40 charts.
That Hammond B-3 organ at the end of the song has got to be one of the coldest riffs in the history of pop music.
