Rebecca and Tommy are inseparable the moment they meet at the beach, but their bond ends as soon as the little girl flies out of the country. Even after years apart, the childhood lovers easily rekindle their relationship. However, it abruptly ends after Tommy gets killed in an unfortunate incident. Grieving and alone, Rebecca takes advantage of the science her late activist lover despises and proceeds to raise his clone. Despite her controversial decision, the devoted woman finds herself unable to distinguish her feelings towards her son, who was also her lover.

Grooming and incest aren't just problematic because of biology. It's about the control a family member has over you. It's an unbalance of power. He's a clone, but still deserves somebody who will have strictly motherly instincts towards him while he's a child. Maybe if she gave birth to him and had somebody else raise him, and then met up with him later when he was older, it would be less weird. Because they're not biologically related and there wouldn't be a family emotional influence in that case.
Why couldn’t she have a another woman to be a surrogate mother to Tommy’s clone? I mean I’m sure she could have gotten another woman to carry the baby in her womb and give birth to the clone so that she wouldn’t be his biological mother. It would’ve been a lot less weird, and definitely a lot less wrong than what she has done
@@karinanalbandyan3009 it would still be wrong though, she'll basically force someone into existence just for the purpose of satisfying her desires.
@@ephyleppie8867 I suppose you’re right, but it would be a whole lot less wrong though. At least she wouldn’t be the biological mother. At least she wouldn’t raise the guy from infancy after giving birth to him. It’s just so twisted
I saw this movie and it was weird as hell. She kept expecting him to be the Tommy that she knew, but that was never going to happen and the original Tommy was never her lover/boyfriend in the first place. She was selfish and just screwed him up.
Her egg still matters. Her egg carries her DNA. He would still be a part of her. Overall still just… nasty. She should have just treated him like a son. There’s just no way around it. No and no.
He developed quickly by using his vampire power saying "it's morbing time" accelerating his growth at 1000% times per second.

No he used his dragon blood 😂
The biggest problem with this movie is that the cake is super small for a birthday party with guests. No wonder nobody came, maybe somebody saw the cake in advance, and spread the news of how this party is gonna suck.
Also, this wouldn't have been weird if Rebecca made some other woman give birth to Tom, and met him some time later. It doesn't matter the two don't share any DNA, she is still the only mom this boy has.
That woman is just not right in the head! Can you imagine giving birth to a child, raising it, and spending the years like: ,,I can't wait for him to grow up, so I can f**k his brains out!''

Tbh this film is disturbing. She could've just used his dna to have his and her baby, rather than using her body as a vessel by giving birth to Tommy's clone. Either she has great attachment to him and can't move on due to blaming herself for his demise, or her attachment to him became twisted to the point she wanted to own him (hence the cloning).

@@guioaca7 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 this cracked me up lmfao
Well, that was trippy. Something like this happened to a friend of mine who gave up a child for adoption. He looked her up after he grew up, and when she saw him, he was the spitting image of his father. She said she couldn't be around him without feeling like she did toward his dad, I guess because she didn't raise him, and so for her it was like having her old flame show up, never having aged.
This happens more often than you think, parents giving up children for adoption when they were young or they never knew who said parent was. Then there adult child comes looking for them
This movie is on the borderline of pedophilia and incest. it did this in a way of sneakily supporting both notions. In terms of the psychological affect it showed it does hold your attention, but because it romanticize incest and pedophilia that feeling of curiosity and interest turns to horror, especially when we all know there were so many other solutions, the most reasonable one would have been to get a therapist and learn to move on and cope with the traumatic event, the second would have been to raise him as her own child, and give him the life her husband never gotten, tell him parts of the truth of being a clone, and encouraging him to have a future, getting to see him grow up, get married, have children and making her a grandmother, they could have had a very healthy relationship, the last and still questionable option could have been letting someone else be the surrogate, and she be brought in as the baby sitter or whatever, someone he would be introduced to in order to become accustomed to her, the odds of him developing feelings for a baby sitter is quite high, especially if that sitter is hot, and kind. And although I still can't get with that last option because it encourages grooming it's less chaotic then the original story. Like the original is a bit more traumatic for a child to realize that their own mother has feelings for them, or the fact that their mother isn't actually their mother and their existence technically isn't normal to begin with since they are a clone raised by a women who wants to have sex with them... I- I dont know...
Borderline? Nah, it definitely crosses the line in my book. Gross.
It is definitely pedophilia. Also, as she is the one to raise him, it is kinda incest. Ofcourse they'd choose a hot actress like her to play the role, so they can get away with it, but reverse the genders and see how well that movie would go over.
that is the point Einstein

I watched this when I was young and thought it was weird. Now I’m older and it’s even more weird. Not only did he die and you cloned him. You gave birth to him and raised him as your son. Long story short, you intended to have sex with him just to get pregnant by him…. What a weird movie.
I bid you good night.
Ppl saying she never had that intention when she went out of her way to birth him and it wasn't for the benefit of his parents. She even had these incestual and pedophilic thoughts while he was still young.
Even after rewatching this I still can't get over it
This woman really messed up. She should have done 1 of 3 options.
1. Don't do it and let his lovers death be that, But movie has gotta movie so this options a bust.
2. Make a clone of both Herself and her lover so their love can grow and tell them both their adopted.
3. Read a grooming book since she is so bad at doing it.
Rebecca raised Clone Tommy and didn't groom him. Clone Tommy kinda raped her out of anger due to her silence and knocked her up in the process. Then he left ... probably to be with his gf. Rebecca was a virgin before that ( the blood after the sexual act proves that ), which means she never had sex with original Tommy ( yet ).
She had zero expetience in seduction despite her age.
Option three is the most outta pocket 😭
even he is a clone, she is still his mother. This seem like another movie that is trying to normalize perversion

Just some questions and thoughts here.
What did Rebecca do for a living after returning to the states?
Did she get a weekly paycheque?
If she did work, how did she deal with going to work and having an infant to take care of?
Whatever happened to Rebecca's parents?
Does she have any family, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, childhood friends.....
Does she speak Japanese fluently?
That secluded house on the beach.
It looks like it had absolutely no utilities, no electricity or gas. Is it even legal to live in?

Did they receive mail at that "shack"?

I thought that little girl the cloned boys met was going to be the daughter of Rose, Tommy's "girlfriend" Rebecca found him with after she returned from Japan.
So, the guy that hit and killed Tommy, whatever happened to him? Did the police try to find him?

I wonder if that baby will have birth defects or not? Because if the guy is 100% a clone of the original than the clone doesn’t share her dna.
The second pregnancy would just be a regular baby, right? Half-mom and half-dad?
I don't think so, since it is her's and Tommy's. She just used her body as a vessel to gave birth to him (from my understanding, his dna is still from his original parents).
She was just a surrogate

There is no way a clone remember their past memories
People think, that's how genetic memory works. Well, it isn't. Cloned stuff will always develop their own memories based on their own experience and not what the original experienced before them.
The cast is crazy 😂 i love those actors and actresses
Did they use her DNA in recreating Tommy? If not and just DNA, then Rebecca was just the carrier, surrogate ... Does it mean she is his mother? Not biologically if her DNA was not used. However it blurs the line of individuals who raised you then become your romantic partner. It's a bit disturbing but it's not incest biologically wise. I could understand that if my lover dies and I wanted to have his kifnand raised the child as my child and his mother. There would be no romantic feeling. But because she did it with the intentions to recreate Tommy to be with Tommy in a romantic way, that's what happened and that blurs the line between their relationship.
It has proven that she gave birth. How this work is first, she had sex with original Tommy who was already a clone. Then she gave birth to that clone who happened to look exactly like her father. Then as shown, the same child she gave birth to ended up having sex. She did have an incest relationship. Then she got pregnant again from her incest relationship. So it is clear that once her birth child grows up, she is going to repeat the cycle of having sex again. So it is clear that Rebecca has no plan to be a grandmother until the day she stops being jealous of her son getting a girlfriend and allow them to marry.
- Well, basically, from what I gathered from the recap, there was actually no incest. She met a guy, completely unrelated to her, fell in love with him, then he died. She couldn't live with the idea of a life without him, so she went to the Lab science place, and they used cloning technology to make an exact duplicate of the original guy, basically a photocopy of the dude she loved, and after he grew up to be an adult she finally was able to be with him again, if only briefly. According to this recap, the boy was a clone, which means he was 1005 identical DNA of the first man, the woman was at most only a surrogate mother, or also known as a "Host Mother" - this doesn't make them related in any way she was just the vessel which he was grown in until he could be born, it's not incest (although I am sure from legal standpoints it would still be considered a wrong thing, but she was not biologically related to the first baby. The second child, was a legitimate child of her and her love, if the man hadn't died and they had had children, it would have been the same thing biologically, so the second child was just the son of her and the first man, because the second man was just a copy of the first, not a child of either him or her.
So unless the kid she had implanted was NOT a clone, that's how this lays from a science perspective - he can't be a clone unless he only has the DNA of one person. If the child had any of the mothers DNA it wouldn't be a clone, and the narrator said the kid was a clone, so, yeah - not her child.
The Clone Tommy sort of raped her though ( taking her virginity and knocking her up ) and then left.
Not very romantic.
Raising a child makes you their parent in every way that matters most. In my opinion, It's extremely sick to have sex with a child you raised...whether cloned, adopted, step-child, etc. This is why I find Woody Allen's current marriage to be toxic.
@@hp2546 You've got it completely wrong. She didn't have sex with Tomy's clone, she had Tomy cloned from the real dead Tomy. They then planted the cloned embryo into her (not his sperm into her eggs, a complete embryo into her womb, that's why the movie is called "The Womb"), so she gave birth to a complete clone, a carbon copy of the original Tomy, that she then raised up and at adulthood, she had sex with him for the first time, the recap even stated, that she bleeds during that sex, she was still virgin, even when she already gave birth to the clone child. Her later child at the end is the son from that one sex with the clone that she birthed and raised as her own son. They weren't related in any other way, she just had a clone inserted in her without having sex. Where did the supposed clone (that you said she had sex with to give birth to the main clone) come from? Nowhere, there wasn't another clone.
Got me all effed up!

Womb (retitled Clone for its UK DVD release) is a 2010 science fiction drama film written and directed by Benedek Fliegauf, and starring Eva Green and Matt Smith.
Plot
The film begins on a beach during a foggy day. A woman (Eva Green) is meditating while she is having tea on the porch of her house. She is in an advanced state of pregnancy. She knows that the father of her child will not return, but she thinks that perhaps her unborn child was the only thing she needed from him. She smiles ominously and begins to reminisce about the events leading up to that moment.
A love story is then told between two children, Rebecca and Tommy, who swear each other eternal love. When Rebecca departs suddenly for Japan with her mother, the two are separated. Twelve years later, Rebecca returns as a young woman to find that Tommy (Matt Smith) not only remembers her, but still cares deeply for her. The two begin a new relationship.
Tommy is a political activist fighting against the biotech corporations, who plan to open a new natural park populated by animals artificially created by cloning. Tommy plans to spoil the inauguration ceremony by letting loose rucksacks filled with cockroaches. Rebecca, herself a computer programmer of leak detection sonar software for underground storage containers, insists on accompanying Tommy.
Driving to the site of the new natural park through a lonely wilderness, Rebecca asks Tommy to stop the car so that she can relieve herself at the side of the road. Meantime, Tommy leaves the car and is struck and killed suddenly by a passing vehicle.
Rebecca and Tommy's parents are stricken with grief. Rebecca wants to use new scientific advancements to have Tommy cloned and thereby bring him back to life. She offers to be impregnated using Tommy's DNA. Though Tommy's mother objects, his father agrees to give Rebecca Tommy's cell material, but urges her to think through her decision carefully before proceeding. Rebecca, however, continues and conceives Tommy's clone in her womb. She visits original Tommy's grave while pregnant with his clone before giving birth by Caesarean section.
Tommy is now raised as Rebecca's son, and the two have a close relationship. Rebecca presents to him a pleo, an artificial living animal created using new biotechnology. Tommy and his playmates observe a neighbourhood girl and try to determine if she has a "copy smell" as the girl is a clone. The neighbourhood mothers display prejudice against "copies", expecting Rebecca to not let Tommy associate with them. Rebecca, though horrified, agrees in order not to isolate her son. Eventually rumours about Tommy spread, and Tommy is forced to celebrate his birthday alone with his mother, his playmates all being barred from attending by their mothers.
Rebecca moves to a more remote location with Tommy. Tommy begins to ask questions about his father, wanting to know how his father died. He buries the pleo his mother gave him for his birthday while out playing with his friend. His mother finds out and gives him back the pleo, which is now no longer working.
Years later, Tommy has grown as old as his original was when he died. As a result, he starts to manifest certain personality traits and interests of the original Tommy (such as his interests in biology). He is now the adult son of still-youthful Rebecca. When Tommy brings a girlfriend, Monica, home to stay with them Rebecca behaves jealously, to both Tommy's and Monica's bewilderment. Tommy struggles with what appears to be sexual tension between himself and his mother. The original Tommy's mother, now an old woman, arrives unexpectedly and stares silently at Tommy, who feels he recognizes the stranger. Frightened and frustrated by Rebecca's lack of explanation, Tommy lashes out at Rebecca, ignoring Monica, who quickly departs.
An angry Tommy demands answers from his mother, Rebecca, who gives him Tommy's original old laptop with photos of him and his original mother and father (the first ones he met before). Tommy throws his mother on the bed in confusion, and asks her who he is and why she did what she did. The sexual tension rises and they both end up having sex. From the blood on Rebecca's hand, it is implied that Tommy took her virginity in the process.
The next day, Tommy packs his things, then addresses Rebecca by her first name (and not "Mom") and thanks her for the life he's had.
The pregnant Rebecca, from the first scene of the film, is revealed pregnant with Tommy's child.
Rebecca's awful. Yeah go against your lover's entire wishes and what he stood for by basically forcing him to experience it through a clone and then groom his clone cause you can't let go of the fact that he's gone. This is so messed up.

Now that would explain why the senior citizen couples chose to be against cloning however, they just went to Rebecca like, if you want to clone our son, you raise him.
