    I'm a heavy gambler and got scammed several times because of it. Once I put a quarter in a gumball machine, and no gumball came out!!! Another time, I was at the boardwalk, and in total I must have dropped like $1.25 into a claw machine. Guess who never won a stuffed animal? -.-

      you are right, however, for most of the common people (not you brave boots with a pistol) they wont know what to do in a situation like that, being abroad, the language barrier, environment, worries about culture and customs, then if it is really life threating etc. I have been around and I tell you, best way to do is to keep yourself in first place ´bling free` coming across rich, too well dressed for the location and looking like is just about to get lost...makes you a target. What about not offering help, nor giving help, neither accepting nothing whatsoever from anybody.

    When I was in Paris, my two sisters and I were approached by three black men (outside a church with a lot of tourists). They started making bracelets on my hand and sung hakuna matata. They started asking where I was from etc. They seemed really genuine. Then when they were done they demanded money for the service, and they asked for my parents. I was quite shocked and I said "I don't know". The man started getting mad, and was looking me in the eyes, and thats when I lost it XD. I ripped the bracelet off my hands and started yelling in his face like, I was pissed off basically. Then I walked away (A little scared) but he didn't bother me afterwards. My sisters just followed me haha.

    The scammers I hate the most are the ones that act like they are homeless when they are loaded. It kills people's trust meaning that the real people who are homeless get trusted less.

    • @noahpewpew
      @noahpewpew Před 7 lety +3

      ur right. and if the REAL homeless people r less trusted they won't get enough money.

    • @TobiasSN
      @TobiasSN Před 7 lety +6

      And just because someone is homeless, that person can request money from people. If you're homeless, it means that you are not good at managing your money. Instead, get a job, and work for money, not sit down and request it. Then ask people if they can rent a room out to you at a price you can afford. Then when you're ready, go to a bank to get a house loan. Use that money to buy a small house, and move in. Now, you just need to pay off your loan, over a few years. There you go! A (maybe way too much simplified) way to get back to a status as a normal person. Of course it could be problematic to get a job, but hopefully, it will happen

    • @princessmonittv167
      @princessmonittv167 Před 7 lety +10

I never understand the Plot of that movie on why a criminal organization would take a huge risk to kidnap a white american girl, that would bring too much heat on their organizations and that's exactly why they don't target americans, this is why white people never get kidnap in mexico, only robbed and bribed, only mexican americans get kidnapped.

    Don't buy things from people on the street also don't accept their 'gifts'! Before you go on holiday buy a money belt that is worn under your clothes and keep your money inside it. Keep some local currency (to buy small things like beverages) in your front pockets which ideally can be zipped or buttoned closed. Do not interact with people on the street/beach/clubs etc who make you feel uneasy as your gut feelings are normally right. Don't do things you wouldn't do at home - would you let a stranger take your hand and read your fortune or make a friendship bracelet in your own town? Keep the same sense of safety and awareness that you have when you are at home and you should be okay. And never ever carry someone's bag for them or let them carry yours the bag could contain drugs, counterfeit money or stolen goods. If you are stopped by airport security carrying such a bag you will be held responsible for its contents. Look up travelling advice from the government website of the country you are visiting and your own government website before you go.

    WHEN IN ROME if you visit the colosseum and a guy dressed up like a gladiator asks if you want to take a picture, say no because he will charge you after it's taken. Also, watch out for pickpockets specifically getting on and off a train (the metro). The pickpockets are usually young (like 14-16) and they will try and make it look like they're trying to get past you, while his friends take your phone from your pockets. They will then proceed to exit the train right before the doors close so you won't be able to catch them when you realize your phone/wallet is gone.

      Gina Kameron OMG - You could not be more right! I went to Rome in March (with our school) and took a backpack, which I literally had to wear facing forwards when out, in case someone helped themselves. We were all literally so paranoid and had to hold our belongings held tight - especially on trains and buses as they were always so packed!

      Glad I can help! Just be careful when you're in tight spaces with people you don't know, try not to look too touristy (because the regular pickpockets target the tourists), and be sure to be aware if someone runs into you really hard but play it off like it's an accident. Other than that, you should be fine! Have fun in Italy!

      +dbltrplx no victims is morons or stupied and so on only the scammers are. Nothing is the victims fault they are totally innocent. The victims shall never ever be blamed for anything, they are totallly innocent. Stop putting blame on the victims who already have been hurted and abused of the scammers and scams thats enough, the victims suffered enough Hell and trust abuse and heart feelings abuse already, and start put the blame and accuse the real evildoers, the scammers of the scams and their many other types scams instead, thanks.
      ( Generally speaking of various other types of scams:
      Some or many or most of the victims of various types of scams also have remained hurts still even that they now are far away from any type or form of scams. Lets pray and hope time will heal their wounds and ours. But getting money back is very difficult, however in those cases Visa card been used it can be possible to ask Visa card company or Bank to try to get money back, but in many cases it can be hard or difficult, to get it through, but sometimes it works, and you get your money back, of the charges you paid by your Credit Card, at least that you get back, witch is much better then nothing.
      Worst part is often not only the money loss, but the trust heart abuse feelings issue, but that problem only God and Jesus Christ, Gods Son true of Bible, Gods Word, truelly can help us with, aswell all other daily things in life. However both is bad the heart abuse feeling issue and the money loss by the scams and scammers of course etc.)
      Thanks.

    With those usually rigged games you'll find next to no rigged ones in Covent garden in London. It's where a lot of street performers do all sorts from magic shows to stunts to live music. They have to get permission to perform there and usually if they do something on the side of the game it's most likely not a scam.
    Something else worth noting is that on beaches(I've seen this mainly in Spain) you'll see someone with a hat or blanket for money in front of a seemingly amazing sand sculpture. These sculptures are fake and they don't allow anyone to go near it as if you touched it you'd realise it's plastic covered in sand. They'll have water pumps and they'll throw sand on it to make people think they made it. It's best to ignore them.

    Just came home from a tour of Italy. Shit's very popular over there, especially in city markets and main tourist spots. Sometimes they offer you things relevant to the situation you're in: the moment it starts raining, they'll be out there selling umbrellas and raincoats. Their new craze, for some reason, is selling really shitty selfie sticks. Sure, that doesn't sound all that bad, but they're fucking relentless. They'll shove it in your fucking face and won't yield even if you say no. If you'll allow me to be a little politically incorrect, It's never the actual locals scamming you- It's the Gypsies and Africans. Italy is beautiful and the people are always warn and friendly, but scammers are rampant in almost all of the major cities (less so taxi scammers), so be aware of your surroundings, so that you will be able to enjoy your time without losing all of your belongings.

      You are leaving out key facts. If the poor don't have money they can get a job. I know that sounded cold hearted, but it's the truth. Obamacare is fucking shit. Obamacare does not let us choose what our taxes are used for. The taxes may be used for something you don't support, like abortion. Republicans give us choice, and if we make bad choices and end up on the street, that's our fault. Obama tried to make it illegal for kids to get the large drinks at gas stations. Why? Because parents apparently don't know how to keep kids from getting fat. Obama is like PETA, they try yo ban ridiculous things for even more ridiculous reasons.

    the common technique is just distraction by asking for purchase of an item or offering help and another pick pocket comes to take your stuff. the easiest way to avoid is leave when they start talking and be aware of who is beside you as much as possible. another technique is asking you to hold an item and then demand purchase which you should just decline holding on at all. no way a normal person will approach you out of everyone to hold something or give you something. even a paper flyer, they can charge you.

      +Eliseo Villar I don't know about other places, but in Sacramento in 2015 there was a sudden popularity for professional beggars to specifically ask for 86 cents for bus fare. It's like there's a beggars union instructing their members what to ask for. I guess that request might get them a dollar since most people would not spend a lot of time fishing around in purse or pocket counting out exact change that was asked for by the beggar. The problem with that tactic is, is that too many beggars were asking for that same amount for "bus fare" :-) and too many beggars suddenly wanted to take the bus. It's not even what bus fare costs.

    Another common one, especially in Italy; a group of people will be 'camped up' in a busy car park, watching for tourists coming and going. Once someone parks, they approach them and offer them something to buy, usually tissues or sun screen (something actually useful). If they buy the item, they can guarantee that their car and its belongings will still be there when they return. Refuse the item and, well, good luck.
    My step father, whilst in Italy, witnessed a group of children vandalising someones car. They hadn't bought a little packet of tissues that one of the guys was selling. So they paid the price.

    The massage one is easy to avoid, just claim that since you initially refused, they have to pay you for touching your body without permission, or face assault charges. It sounds crazy, but people have been sued for not giving notice to robbers of alarms. So I think it will work.
