      Wrong.
      Ever notice when Russians are in charge there is peace and development? The people aren't necessarily wealthy, but they can afford housing, medicine, food, and a vacation every year or two. And they basically all get along.
      Then notice the West comes along with claims it'll bring democracy and prosperity. What happens next? Everyone quickly quickly becomes poor, unable to afford things, stuggling even with just rent and food. And then become angry and hateful, and wars break out.
      And it happens every single time. Look at Latin America before and after western (American mostly) interference. Look at the Middle East before and after "freedom and democracy".
      The common denominator in all these areas becoming poor and unstable is the West trying to reform and govern them.
      You can read Pew and Gallup polls about people in ex Soviet countries. Majorities of people believe almost every, even in hardcore Russia hater countries like Latvia, that the Russians ran things better and they lived better with the Russians. Russia is even doing better than most ex Communist countries, including the ones in the EU.
      The Russians bring prosperity and peace, the West brings war and poverty. These are facts.

    Slight correction: the east-west divide in Poland follows the border of the Tsarist Russian Empire, where the Eastern half was Russian occupied Poland and the Western half was part of Prussia (later Germany) and Austria. The Nazi-Soviet border wasn’t around long enough for the divide to be noticeable today. After WWII the borders of Poland were moved west into Germany, thus causing the divide seen today, where the eastern portion is what remains of Poland as is was in 1918-1939 and the western portion is what used to be Germany.

So the eastern part of modern Poland was literally occupied Poland, while Austria and Prussia just incorporated parts of Poland into their territory.

    - no need to subsidize an insurance company every month
    - less taxes to pay to the state because you own a car
    - no hassle with parking spaces
    - no needing to go to a mechanic to fix your car
    - no mandatory vehicle inspections
    - public transport is cheap AF when compared to a car (compare paying 67 euros every 3 months for all forms of public transport to all the costs associated with a car)

Not to mention that having tramways that go along the street is only marginally better than a bus. My biggest gripe is the ticketing system. There's already a stereotype that Slovenians are stingy, but LPP doesn't exactly have to enforce this stereotype by being the only larger city in the universe without a day ticket.
      And your trains are amazing. Having an hourly service on every main line is a dream. The suburban train lines in Zagreb barely get more service than a place like Sevnica.

      The marshall plan did nothing to boost their gdp nor was it detrimental for the recovery, this is a historical fact.
      44% of the funds went to brittain and france the least effected in europe only 11% went to germany with another 5% going to the cia for you know what.

      More importantly the Marshall plan's real aim at the time was much more short-term - It was meant to avert famine conditions in the immediate Post-War (especially the refugee situation in Germany). In that is was incredibly successful.

    As someone from Czechia (I know not real Eastern Europe) the fact that corruption has been superseded by actual economic and social questions as the top thing instead maybe shows some development by itself... The fact that we are seriously in a situation where we have become too rich to be using the eastern European cheap workforce style of economics is the biggest issue for our future currently 💀

    Me, a Greek dude, being thrown with the rest of Eastern European/ Post-Soviet Union countries, while being none of the two. I feel like an impostor.
    Cheers to my fellow Eastern bros(?!). Am I right guys?

    • @pizdaglizda
      @pizdaglizda Před 4 měsíci +1

      As a Polish person who has nothing to do with Greece, I think you’re feeling like an impostor not because of reasons above but because of being Balkan.

    • @DelCause
      @DelCause Před 4 měsíci

      @@pizdaglizda Yeah that's my point, Greece in every statistic is placed alongside the Eastern European/post soviet countries even if we are Balkan. Meanwhile Slovenia and Croatia are nowhere near in most of them (ofc in some we are placed together).

      Come on, Greece and Portugal are honorary Eastern Europe, it's well documented.

    • @gnas1897
      @gnas1897 Před 27 dny

      @@ajuc005 Greece isn't honorary Eastern Europe. It's literally eastern Europe along with the rest of the Balkans (except for Croatia and Slovenia).
      Portugal, on the other hand is a honorary member.

    8:00 those borders you're showing, the elections result, they reflect not the Ribbentrop-Molotov's partition result, but a result from 18th century, when (as always) Germany and Russia, with tiny help of Austro-Hungary partitioned Poland
