But the customer is happy as I give her free regular washes, and the initial coating job was free too, as I always do for customers when they volunteer their car for a new product test on my end. I had a hard time tossing the kits of V1, so I applied one bottle to the soft tonneau cover on my truck 3 months ago and it's absolutely holding up. The water beading on the cover is crazy good.

    Just used the V2 last week. I found that waiting 5 minutes to wipe it off was too much time, the coating was tough to wipe off. 4 minutes worked great till it started to get close to 80F in my garage. I set my timer to 3 minutes and that worked perfect for the remaining portion of the vehicle. It was 75F and 56% humidity when I started.
    Hopefully it lasts! It looks and feels awesome.

      Thanks for sharing. Yeah readjusting the wipe off based on your conditions is often necessary with coatings.

    I received 2 bottles of Cerakote to try. I installed it on the bonnet and then applied Gyeon MOHS Evo (our standard coating) to the remainder of the car to test.
    This was partially because I did not realise it was V2 and didn't want to spend time putting a coating on that would fail like V1 would (doh!)
    But it was indeed V2, never the less I will apply it to the next entry level correction detail I do and gather feedback from the client.

As far as Fusso Coat, I know it's for automotive use, my point is that it worked better than this did and in fact I tested it for 6 months and did really well. This is on a bass boat that spends 90% of the week in actual use.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  Před měsícem +1

      Any protection constantly gets improved, including sprays. A few years ago we couldn’t find anything that would last more than 1-2 months. Now we have sprays that can last 6-12 months.
      Same applies to coatings. In 2018, CarPro was the king of the hill with CQuartz UK 3.0 which lasted 2 years if you applied two layers.
      Now we have one layer coatings that claim 5+ years.
      A true coating will still always best any spray on the market for sure. So no need to be on the fence about that. ;)

      @PanTheOrganizer  Před měsícem +1

      Hey thanks man! Just to be clear though, V2 was applied in April 2024 on this vehicle, so hasn't been through a winter season yet.
      I saw your video of the 1 month update by the way, and it seemed doing well for you as well, until you used Koch Chemie Rs (Reactivation Shampoo), and then it turned to sheeting from what you seemed to be saying.
      Rs has a pH 1.0 so is super acidic, and is likely beyond the chemical resistance window of most coatings, which is usually pH 2 or 3, up to pH 12 or 13. What are your thoughts on that?
      KCx says that the Reactivation Shampoo is supposed to remove mineral deposits (salt) and limescale buildup, to restore hydrophobic properties of coatings, but who knows if all coatings can resist that.

    • @OQDetailing
      @OQDetailing Před měsícem

      @@PanTheOrganizer oh yea my apologies I misspoke thinking you guys were getting snow at this time.
      Nice!
      Yes that’s good point, I think I read somewhere that even though it’s PH 1 in the bottle, when you mix it with water and it dilutes the PH changes and is not as low and closer to neutral.
      However it wasn’t the KC reactivation shampoo that changed it from beading to sheeting, if anything it helped the coating, but rather it was carpro water spot remover that did that. The issue was that I let it dwell for about 2.5 mins and it’s only supposed to be on there max 1 min so it was a user error.
      It’s still repelling water fine, but just not in the form of tight water beading.
      BTW, I’d love to do any form of collaboration with you! 🤝🙋🏻‍♂️

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  Před měsícem +1

      Oh yeah for sure never let water spot removers dwell for too long, and certainly not the Spotless 2.0 as it's super strong acidic stuff. Most water spot removers just require spray on rinse off, and sometimes a spray on, wipe with a microfiber mitt or towel, and rinse after one minute. Also, perhaps you had an expired product?
      Most chemicals have a 1 to 2 year maximum shelf life, if stored correctly and not frozen. CarPro products also usually have expiry date on the bottom of the bottle. ;)
      And yeah continue doing good things with your channel! I love to offer a chance to smaller channels to get grow when they reach approximately 10K subscribers. I want to make sure they are there for the right reasons, doing good things for the detailing community, and not just there to make a few bucks or a few videos and disappear.
      So continue working hard, grinding to produce good videos, and when the day comes, we'll revisit the possibility of having you come over to my channel for a collab.
      Cheers!!

    • @OQDetailing
      @OQDetailing Před měsícem

      @@PanTheOrganizer yea those are all good reminders and points to bring up, thanks. However it was just the fact that I forgot how much dwell time was needed.
      Yea man that sounds good, your approach to it is very logical and makes sense. I just saw you do a video with a couple other detailers who had much less than 10k like Mike G, EC, SOC so I thought I’d ask also but yea I totally understand your reasoning.
      I own and run a detailing business, and I’m a certified & skills validated Detailer with the IDA and working towards becoming a RT (Recognized Trainer) so I’m not in this to make a quick buck or anything like that but I appreciate your feedback and the fact you do give smaller channels the chance to do videos with you once you feel is appropriate. After 2 days water sprayed on a side panel, crazy water beading! The car will be back next week for a first wash. I'm curious. CSL + EXO V5 was installed on my car a year ago but after less than a year the lower side panels start to flake. Decontamination washes no langer help. If I had to apply a new coating, it would be the new cerakote V2.

Also, I will perhaps have plans of repolishing the entire vehicle and applying a coating on the entire car in the future. Who knows.

    Great video as usual Pan. It would be very valuable to determine the UV protective qualities of any of the ceramic coatings. It appears that most of the coatings go a good job at protecting from surface assaults such as dirt, debris, acid deposits etc. I've not seen any assessment of the UV attenuation that such coatings provide. While a lot of the assessments are qualitative in nature and somewhat anecdotal, actually measuring the transmittance of UV through various ceramic coating would be game changing . It wouldn't be too difficult to use a UV sensitive sensor under plate glass or plexiglass to measure the transmittance of various UV LED sources. It would generate hard data that would be quite usable. Such an assessment would be relatively easy for someone with your science background. Keep up the great work.

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  Před měsícem

      That's always a huge topic for debate. It's near impossible to prove that coatings provide UV protection. Dmitry's garage has tried with many scientific instruments, and there isn't a single coating that seemed to provide actual UV protection.
      I had discussions with many chemists in the industry, and they pretty much all agree that UV protection is only a part of the equation. Coating companies mention UV protection because it’s easy to comprehend for consumers. In reality, coatings provide protection against oxidation, they do so through blocking air, moisture, dirt, and UV.
      So it's not that they necessarily contain UV "blockers" like your clear coat does. Keep in mind the majority of the UV protection is from your clear coat. The clear coat actually has UV blockers baked right into it. Hence why we need to protect that clear coat layer with something else on top that can keep the clear coat safe and doing its thing.
      So I wouldn't overthink the moment when it comes to paint protectants giving actual UV blocking. None has proven that they can actually do that specific task.
      The takeaway is that your clear coat provides your paint with all the UV blocking it needs.

Other than my professional grade C6 Ceramics Hydro that's on my new Porsche, and the pro grade Roar Coatings that was applied on my previous 911 Turbo S, which have superior hydrophobics but those coatings cost several hundreds of dollars, the Cerakote V2 has excellent hydrophobics really.

You're looking at $2000 USD for the pressure washer, and $643 USD for the gun, wand and nozzle kit. So you're at almost $2700 USD for the package.
      I use a 40 degree, 4.5 orifice nozzle to wash cars. That's the correct orifice size to maximize water flow with my Kranzle.

      It's impossible to know, as Cerakote never gave durability in terms of years as everyone else does. They just gave a guideline on number of washes. I would guess it should at least be able to do 2-3 years because it's a very inexpensive coating, so if it does last that long, it would make it the best value in its price point by far.
      But I never make promises to customers. As there are many variables that make durability different from one client to another. Maintenance, mileage, is the car in a garage all day, or it sits outside in the elements year round, etc. I can tell them the claimed durability, but real world conditions make it so that almost no coating ever makes it to the full durability claims.

      V1 was applied in late 2023 when the original coating was launched. A month later, in my December 2023 video, it had started showing signs of failure going from beading to sheeting. And a few other CZcamsrs were having similar issues, so we gave feedback to Cerakote and they realized they had issues with the curing mechanisms in certain conditions (especially colder climates it seems).
      So for many months, they were working on this updated version 2. We applied V2 as soon as it was released, in April 2024. So left the original V1 all over the car (applied in 2023) and did two squares for V2 application in April 2024 (square on the hood, and a square on the driver side door).

    its good to use iron removers to remove ceramic coating every 2-3 months for maintenance against brake dust? What does this look like? Can someone explain?

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  Před měsícem

      Yes it's actually recommended to use an iron remover once every 2 to 3 months on a ceramic coated car, to remove accumulated brake dust, rail dust, industrial fallout, etc. Or as often as needed depending on your level of brake dust performance.
      Iron removers are mainly pH neutral in the bottle, and become slightly acidic when they react on the surface. Nothing a true ceramic coating (glass bottle) can't handle. Coatings have a very high resistance to chemicals (typically pH 3 to pH 12, depending on what coating you buy) and so an iron remover is no problem.

    How often do you recommend detailing a car that's ceramic coated with a 5 year coating and washed weekly? 🤔

    • @PanTheOrganizer
      @PanTheOrganizer  Před měsícem +1

      Define what you mean by "detailing". Washing a car regularly, on a weekly or bi-weekly basis is the first essential thing. Some modern coatings don't require toppers for maintenance, but most still do. So once every 2 to 3 months, apply a layer of a ceramic or graphene based spray sealant to maintain the coating's properties and durability.
      Once every 3-4 months, or as needed depending on your level of brake dust contamination, you should use an iron remover to remove brake dust and rail dust and industrial fallout.
      Beyond that, it depends on what other issues you run into. If you see some water spots, you can use an acidic soap like CarPro Descale, or a water spot remover like CarPro Spotless 2.0
      If you see the coating starting to accumulate road film that masks the coating's hydrophobic properties, you can also use an alkaline snow foam for the pre-wash, like Bilt Hamber Touch-Less or CarPro Lift.

    Does carpro spotless 2.0 works like diy detail water spot remover as in it can bring back water beading not only on coated cars but non coated cars?

      Yes, CarPro Spotless 2.0 is a water spot remover, just like the DIY Detail Water Spot Remover. They both remove and neutralize minerals found in water.
      If you see mineral deposit accumulation, or fresh water spots that a simple hand wash won't remove, you can try using a water spot remover to "unclog" the coating and remove mineral buildup. It should restore the hydrophobic properties, but that's assuming the coating underneath is still in good condition. If it had started to fail, a water spot remover won't bring a failing coating back.

      The best is always to decon wash, iron remover, clay, machine polish, paint prep spray and then reapply a fresh layer. Best results for performance and durability.
      The bare minimum is to wash, iron remover, clay and reapply.
