âą This KIT GUITAR Should...
I Like To Make Stuff

At 5:45 I swear he was unpacking a slice of american cheese and since it's Bob I was just "Huh, weird, I guess he has a plan." I trust Bob too much...
Came here to comment that same thing!
I can just see Bob taking a slice of American and unwrapping it while talking about getting a new tack cloth, stopping, looking at the cheese, then the camera, and saying "What? It's lunchtime, I'll get the dust off that piece after my sandwich."
best. comment. ever.
Your logo in orange on the pick guard and ILTMS on the headstock in black block letters with an orange border would definitely 'finish' it off.
Nicely done! I like it.
Came to this channel after 5 years, Iâm very glad to see that you still make the same exact content 5 years ago and didnât quit because of the Pandemic
I like how you used Jimmy's icepick to mark holes for screws which you installed with Giaco's driver.
Bob you should make the Double Decker Couch from Lego movie. I looked it up and couldnât find anyone who had made it. Would make a funny present
I was heartbroken when he chose the white side of the pick gaurd
Yeah it needs⊠something
It was great right up until then, the guitar didn't need one at all the only way to go would have been a transparent one in a traditional explorer guard shape......transfer tape or low tack masking tape man, draw it on then carefully take it up and re stick it down to your actual material
YeahâŠ. Same here
Maybe a clear pick guard
Transparent would be good, but a smaller black plate would have probably been my choice.
I still have a few things to learn about guitar building before I'm ready to enter the GGBO (I want to enter the scratch built category), but I'm looking forward to it.
You came up with a really nice design, and a lovely finish. Good luck with the competition.
Every time I watch your videos I learn something new,and the guitar looks beautiful!
I love double humbucker pickups! It's my favorite pickup serup. Great guitar build Bob! Very impressive!
I wonder how many folks got the "Gluey" reference at 1:48? My favorite "Gluey" episode is "Clamping" really tugs at the ol heart strings.
Wow i really loved the sound of that one. Very cool twang and classic tone. Thats one sweet guitar you made there.
Looks great. I really like burst style paint jobs and the color combo is perfect.
Fun build that looks really good! That tobacco sunburst turned out really nice. Good luck in the raffle! Thanks for sharing!
I watched 7 GGBO build videos today, what a treat! Thanks from Colorado.
I like it. I have that âscrew driver you donât needâ too!
Terrific guitar build Bob! Wish that I knew how to play because I would definitely be bidding on that guitar! đđđžđž
Awesome job. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep making. God bless.
Beautiful job Bob!
Awesome Job! That looks super sick!
I made my own explorer last summer and it came out way better than I ever thought it would
I watched Pask Makes do this same thing on his channel, and I am enjoying seeing the different approaches to this challenge. Bob with his hair metal style guitar, and Pask with his copper work decorated guitar.
I appreciate that!
That Gluey sticker made my day. I'll be ordering that!
Killer job! It turned out amazing!
Love this! Nice work!
My brother participated in GGBO last year, and I helped put his videos together! Seems like the pick guard won't really help since the natural strumming motion is the opposite way.
I like the paint job!
Art work, beautiful!
Looks nice! One piece of critique, though - for that body style, I'd would recommend putting the front strap lock on the back of the guitar, near the neck joint.
Love the Matt Ferguson Empire Strikes Back Japanese variant in the background there
Love the Gluey label!
That is so awesome!!! Love that it was for charity!! â€â€
Awesome!!!
Interesting build Bob... could you have painted the headstone with the same colors as the body? Interesting project and build. Cheers
Guitar's looking hella dope
I love watching Robert build things
Robert.... đ well then.
Bob guitars are gonna be a collector item in the future and are gonna be worth a fortune! Step aside Les Paul, Bob is in town!
At minute 5:45 I thought you were opening the largest slice of processed cheese. LOL
HAHAHA!
wow nice video my friend keep it up :D !!!!
Way to think outside the box!
Iâd really like this gutar
Itâs like the perfect mix of explorer an a kelly itâs wicked!
Thanks!
This vid has some really good background music throughout. (No, I don't mean Bob's noodling at the end...)
Thanks!
great burst !
Thanks!
Cool!
Love it
Beautiful work, Bob! Fantastic looking guitar!!! đ
Some day I'm going to try it out as well!
Stay safe there with your family! đđ

Using a hammer with no punch or other way to protect the guitar body.
You have what it takes to sell real estate.
sweet!
Seriously thought the tack cloth was a cheese slice đČ
*Watches Bob use the longest pickguard screws in history*
Lol, good stuff Bob. :)
That Gluey joke nearly killed me.
Whoa!!!
Gives me guitar hero energy
Gluey. Amazing.
I want to be in the drawing for the guitar. Looks awesome

I'm over here waiting for the drum set build.
So is Anthony!

If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.
waaauw it is cool.
I'M SCREAMING cause all I can thing about is DINO the Last Dinosaur and his guitar
How or where can you get this guitar kit?
I don't now how play guitar but aewsome project
The pick-guard should be black. Since you left the wood-grain, a satin finish would look much better.
Not bad I want learn more
Bob please, PLEASE, make an actual sized Skee-ball game. Youâd have at least one customer buying those plans đ
Cool
guitar there the best thing
Make a Drum Set!
Nice guitar, but I need that gluey sticker
Yeah you do!iliketomakestuff.com/shop/product/sticker-sheet/
I canât find that pre routed blank on their website! Was it custom made ?
No, I'm not sure why they're not listed right now.
@@Iliketomakestuff om itching to make a new guitar design i have in mind but Iâm lazy đ
Hey did you include a case for 6his odd shipped guitar?
Yep, we have a case
Excellent build, love the burst job!
But spar varnish?!? Taking a page from Jimmy Diresta's book in this case is a terrible idea.
Yes I complained about it on his guitar too.
To each his or her own.
@@Iliketomakestuff I guess. But spar varnish is designed to NOT harden so that it doesn't get slippery on boat decks. You put all that time and effort into building this, it seems a shame to use a finish that doesn't do it justice.
@@VAXHeadroom The whole build is rather slapdash. The pick guard is preposterous. The burst looks pretty good from rattle cans, but he is a non luthier, so I guess he just doesn't have the depth of knowledge on how these build should be done.
@@peachmelba1000 I've followed these guys for quite a while including on the "Making It" podcast. He's a good fabricator with a solid knowledge of how to build - and finish - furniture. Just wish he'd used that knowledge here...
The color and spray came out nice, but that finish is still too raw imo. It's nice to have the grain come through on the texture but every other little imperfection and scratch will too, and I could see it in the video. Maybe I am just spoiled on high gloss finishes.
Does anyone have the link to the kit he used? I can't seem to find thr predrilled kit?
They aren't offering it on the website now and I'm not entirely sure why :(
hows the karmann ghia project going?
Taking a pause until I can get back out to the farm.
I donât see those blanks on their website!
Hm. I'm not sure why not.
Canât find that guitar kit blank on the website. Can you post a link.
Nevermind. Just found the page that says they are no longer producing them.
Oh Dang, good to know. I tried finding the blank to link for others.
I donât know anything about guitars but is the nut optional on the neck?
The nut is absolutely necessary! Itâs what holds the strings in place and determines so many factors of a guitar. Guitars are generally imprecise instrument, but the nut is an area of great precision on a guitar.
Is there a link to where we can buy the kit you used without buying a course?
As far as I can tell, they stopped selling the kits :/
But check out StewMac.com they have lots đđŒ
@@Iliketomakestuff Thanks! I'll check them out.
Did anyone else think that the cloth was a Kraft Single?
I did
Guitar looks awesome, pic guard donât match juss sayin
Oh dang. Peep Bob's fancy boy bit driver! That thing looks totally unnecessary...definitely don't need it. đ
I think pic guard ruins it but goood job
Mumblelily reunion
Why is your guitar not listed on the website while your podcast associates made it? đ€
GGBO was working on their website through the weekend. it's listed now.www.greatguitargiveaway.com/product/bob-clagett-great-guitar-build-off-2022-invitational-entry/
Ngl a guitar would fit on my wall
Then it wouldnt be so empty
Does the glue bottle say Gluey?
Yes. We have those stickers available at shop.iltms.com
Where sanding???
Gluey..đ mint.
found it funny every other persons video ive seen so far theyve made these weird unique guitars then you come along and make a normal looking guitar
Oooh I dunno man I feel like the grain fiiller made it come out looking like painted cardboard...
Turned out pretty perfect in person.
Heh. Another southpaw playing right handed.
Nice build!
It's beautiful ... but .. it -seems- like it's backwards. like .. it was supposed to be a left-handed guitar .. like the template was upside-down when you cut it out. Please don't get me wrong, it's beautiful as I said, this is just my observation.
Thanks! No, it's not backwards. I was trying to do a design that was inspired by the Gibson Explorer đđŒ
@@Iliketomakestuff No, I know it isn't, I watched you design it that way.
are you serious, you couldn't play us a quick solo đ
The riff at the end overlaying the video is me.
I hope I win your guitar!
Did you buy your raffle ticket yet?
@@Iliketomakestuff I bought 3 tickets actually
The best thing about your build is the finish, and you covered 1/4 of it with a big, ugly pick guard.
Was he in a hurry???
Is anyone else trying to think of the word to replace "blank"? đ
Unbelievable poor quality of the work ( so sad to watching this video.
I don't understand how it's possible Oo
A pretty basic build - not what I'd come to expect from this channel.
His previous guitar build was better in my opinion... this one just doesn't feel right
Sorry you feel that way. Luckily we're all entitled to our own opinions and what we deem as "quality".
