So in this very comprehensive video, I briefly went over my own lobola and wedding planning process, and I spent most of the video answering the questions you guys asked me on Instagram a few weeks back, covering budgeting, costs, planning a wedding, dealing with family pressures, lobola and its logistics, what I would do differently and some tips, tricks and lessons from my own experience.

Hey Zizi! I’m enjoying the video so far ❤️❤️. I just wanted to add on one of the questions - my mom handled my lobola negotiations. I didn’t have any uncles that could stand in for me and nam ndazalelwa ekhaya, so she handled it together with my brother and everything went perfectly.
The most important thing to make sure things go smoothly is for abatshati to sensitise their families of the situation. Also don’t bring those difficult uncles who will embarrass you, make sure the people you bring to stand on your behalf are people abakulo moya nikuwo.

That part about how you cannot be mature enough to want to get married and start a family yet still be too scared to have difficult conversations & challenge norms and at times even family need iVolume!! 📢 The way that your spouse behaves during that high pressure period says a lot about what's coming in the future in my view.🙈 Great chat - cant believe you summarised in 1 video what took me an entire series to articulate. 😅

Please this lady is so well spoken. I been watching your videos a lot lately and i just love how you elaborated everything. Marriage is a huge commitment and its crucial that one does research before going into it. You broke it down perfectly. Once my partner and I get to this stage, I will be coming back here again.😊
When you said that you and your hubby shared a bed and did certain things after saying your vows I got so overjoyed. As someone who's in a celibate relationship I get excited when hearing that other couples waited. I love it♥️
Zizi I love your beliefs on the concept of Lobola~I also strongly believe it is a gift in Appreciation of a wife and thus the husband should not be exploited...Also we must think bout the household the that is yet to be built.

I absolutely love how you chose to marry out of community and how you openly talk about it. It's really important to make these difficult/uncomfortable decisions earlier on.

Thanks for sharing that you discussed and sat with a lawyer to decide on the type of marriage contract that’ll be best suited for both of you. It’s sad how it’s often made to seem like marrying out of community of property = not trusting each other enough. Hopefully more young couples would be open to learning about antenuptial contracts (marrying out of community of property with or without the accrual system) before diving deep.

I think most times it’s probably due to a lack of understanding… I was also initially apprehensive about it, but after taking time to read, I understood why it was the better option for me…

Weddings are definitely expensive sis… but it early planning, and being realistic, you can definitely make it happen….
A wedding at home is actually more expensive Zizi.. Getting a marquee, proper decor to the standard of a venue, you end up with double catering as well. Hiring cars to abs from the matrimonial etc. We compared prices and doing it at home was actually more expensive
