- Today im testing all of the most popular sneaker cleaners available one the market. Every sneaker cleaner claims to be the best and have ingredients that will clean your sneaker better than anything else so i tested them all up against what you already have at home, regular old detergent. In this video i use Reshoevn8r, Crep Protect, FZ150 by shoedoc, Jason Markk and Detergent.
Let me know what you think of sneaker cleaners down in the comments below!

I restore and clean sneakers. Been doing it since 5 years and here's what I've learned:
- The Cleaner is not the key product, it's the brushes and rinsing, rinsing and even more rinsing:
I personally use 3 to 4 brushes. A soft one, a medium one and a stiff and brass bristled one for the soles. For tougher stains, a magic eraser works wonders. Rinse the shoe, once you're done with one brush. Once I'm done with the entire shoe, I rinse it under the shower, with a lot of pressure and squeeze out the water of the sock liner material 2-3 times. Washing machine is optional. Ps: I use castile soap (1 L on amazon = 12 bucks. Can use it for about 100 pairs)
- Different materials need different approaches of stain removal. F.e. if you have a canvas shoe, you need to do a ton of rinsing. Dirt can reaaaally sink deep down into the canvas material and needs to be lifted. If you don't want to rinse your shoe for about an hour, you can clean it normally, put it into the washing machine and wrap it in toilet paper afterwards. The leftover crud will rise up into the toilet paper.
This is just my approach of cleaning sneakers. You don't need to spend 20-50$ or more on cleaning supplies. Time and patience is key here. And I know it's a lot, I know hahaha. But that's just how I do things and my customers come back every time. Just wanted to to leave you guys with some advice here and it's up to you, if you wanna take it. :)
Like my comment so I can come back to this
Like my comment so that I can also come back to this video
What's your approach for cleaning suede shoes?
Fz150 is superior nothing is touching it
@@JaredEvans Brushing off the visible dirt first. Then more brushing with a brass bristle brush. Timberlands are easy to clean like that. A Suede eraser can work for tougher stains. If needed, you can clean them with some castile soap after that, but always shake off the water from the brush. Too much water can cause the suede to bleed. Once it is dry, get a medium or brass bristled brush and reset the nap of the suede. Done. :)
When I see the foam I'm in the zone!
Let’s see if shoe doc reacts to it 😂😂
I say that to my girl too.
No, when I see the zone I’m in the foam
I just saved myself a 150 bucks
Hahahah love it
I got a FZ150 kit as a gift not long ago, that stuff is magic. I use it on my fitted New Era hats as well, comes out great every damn time. FZ150 is legit.
You could use castille soap and get better results for 1/8 of the money
Yep , great on new era fittee
So you're in the zone?
@@papi-shoelostop the cap.
@@papi-shoeloif you’re broke just say so 😂😅🤣😂😅🤣
This was kind of a pointless experiment because you didn’t exactly use the cleaners like they’re designed to be used. By leaving all the crap all over the sneakers when you start, you’re essentially just mashing it all back in. You should have started by (again) washing off all of the extra mud, chocolate, coffee, hot sauce… that way the cleaners are going what they’re designed to do… work on the surface level dirt and stains. The first thing these cleaners tell you to do is remove all the extra gunk and dry brush the shoe to remove everything but the stains before cleaning. All you did was point out that if you clean gunk WITH gunk, you’ll still always have gunk.
even if you do all that , the results would be kind of the same. Cuz detergent is also as good. Paying extra for shoe cleaner is not at all necessary.
Detergent will still win though😂
Exactly, the tool doesn’t matter
@@ryanlusanta5124 Would it though? I’ve watched those shoe cleaning vids by reshoevn8r and they can get those shoes looking brand new. All Elliot did was make them about 80% clean and call it a draw. I’m curious what the end result would have looked like for each had he cleaned them properly. That’s why I said this was a pointless experiment.
you are right but that point its irrelevant to this video, just use what you have guys.
Elliot just saved himself 150 bucks!

Watch out! The sneaker cleaning industry is gunning for Elliot. We must protect him!!
Damn is big sneaker cleaner coming??👀
@@elliotpage_when you do that much damage you got to use the sneaker cleaners laundry kit but not all of brands have a kit, cleaning it alone won’t do the job
@@elliotpage_ nah shoe doc gonna foam you up brudda
Yeah

After being cleaned they're not stained, they are 'reimagined' according to Nike.

💀 real bro
As someone who purchased Jason Markk, Reshoevn8r and Crep over the years, I can say that dish soap/detergent + baking soda is easily as good if not better than paying $$ for said products. When I was 10 years younger I was so scared of dishsoap "damaging" my precious sneakers so I went on buying expsnive cleaners when they are just condensed soap themselves.
People don't realize most sneakers (barring some suede ones) can just be tossed into washer with gentle cycle and won't get damaged.
dish soap is harsh, i used to use it when i was younger, its bad because it drys out leather and nubuck, it also causes the glue at midsole seams to turn a nasty yellow, jason mark and resh8ner dont do that.
Good to know
@@airtec87except most shoes barely have leather anymore. Most have very low quality leather and tons of plastic finishing on top. And all that nubuck is fake too.
Took your advice, threw my Louboutins in the washer. I'm pissed
@@InTheMindOfficial throwing a real leather sneaker into the washer won't ruin them after one wash. Nice try though.
From my eyes I thought the reshoev8ner was the winner (by a pretty small margin) but it came with three brushes and the stains had the least amount of time to set in so it probably doesn't mean much if anything. I'd guess investing in a few brushes is the best way to go!
I was thinking that too
100% agree. Brushes will play a big role with what you’re trying to scrub and what surface/material you’re scrubbing.
i can see genuine fun and passion in this video. this was really informative. keep it up!
Thanks for the video, been curious about this topic for a while now, you answered all questions in one vid and more. Plus it was very enjoyable to watch, great one as always!
Just to get this type of sneaker content from you says a lot. Keep up the great work!
I have tried multiple and fz150 is the best so far especially if you follow directions
😂😂😂Trust me every soap would make same results
@@PakiCrown bro fz150 would destroy soap don’t buy soap and save yourself 150 bucks
@@PakiCrownnot really I tried many fz 150 is the best
this is an amazing segment elliot. it really shows your creativity with sneaker content. this content was truly a banger - hope you get 1M subs soon!
Ayy thank you so much!❤️🔥🙏
Funny, informative, & different type of vid! Continued success Elliot!
Great video, the problem is that normal day to day sneakers get dirty not from those stuff, its those little dirts that stick to the shoe for months, and get in the sneaker, and that its super hard to get out, if u try to clean mud that has been on the shoe for 1hr its would be easier, maybe try with shoes u have really worn for couple months and went to party with or something that has creases, and see the real results! :)
People might think you're cleaning it wrong (no shoetree, no wiping, etc.). The real test is to collab with Theshowlorios, VickAlmighty, Jason Markk. same shoes, 5 different people. make it a series/episode if you can't invite them.
Yeah honestly I was thinking the same thing. I mean obviously he isn’t going to put in 100% effort to take lots of time and really get into the small areas to clean the shoes, but I feel like because of that the results were skewed.
@@aadesignscustomsthe cleaning order also effected the results, if it really did take 10-20 min per shoe then the ones cleaned later had longer for the dirt to set in
That’s gonna earn damn views too.
I've been using dawn dish soap, warm water and a medium brush for years and it does the trick just fine. So imo yeah sneaker cleaners aren't really a necessity unless you juat like nice packaging and brand recognition.
Wonderful concept & a video I'm personally glad someone did. Thanks for the great content!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This is really interesting! Thank you for this!
I watched those videos of shoe cleaning stuff, and I'm not convinced, using detergent is definitely good enough and safe toour kicks' materials. Been using detergent and toothbrush for decades. (Early 2000s).
Great job by the way. This is indeed an eye opener. Keep it up.
You are supposed to rinse dirt and other stuff first and apply the cleaner after so cleaner can work on shoe surface rather then rubbing the dirt more into sneakers
Finally. Ive been waiting for this kind of video
Loved you in Juno bro!
You should do one of these but for Sneaker Prtotector Sprays
I'm so pleased no expensive sneakers were harmed in the making of this video.
I'm not, I wanted to see AF1s, Jordan 1 Carnage.
@@elmaster6207 same lol
I like this video. Great alternative to what is usually posted. Helps folks realize whether any of these products are worth it
the video we all needed, thanks Elliot!
Ayy appreciate it!
For fz150 he’s says if it’s like that bad then you have to rinse them off first and it might take a few washes ( with fz150) to make them look brand new
i think it really would be an important test in suede but for this one definitely detergent
Thanks for giving a review regarding to this shoe cleaners available from the market. This is want we need to see what brand is the best. You’re the best bro!
Legit video bro! Would be amazing if you try the special creams for sole yellowing vs peroxide you could thrift maybe 3 pairs of af1 with yellow sole or any other sneaker and test
you just save myself a 18-35 bucks
I’m guessing what the shoe cleaners really offer other than a good cleaning is also conditioning the materials for normal real life wear . Although this was an excellent video it was a bit on the extreme side and I don’t think people would normally get their shoes this dirty in one day lol .. great video bro keep up the great work
That was my first thought people do not get they shoes this freaking filthy.
@@rosalindgentry6633 not only that, he didn't brush off the excess. That is a must or else you are just mixing in the excess dirt back into the shoe
I use a dishwashing liquid and works just as well.
As an extra option use a *charcoal mixed scented fabric softener for an added pleasant smell.
Would love more of these kinda vids
Ive been wanting to mix the F150 with the Resho8 cleaner and see what happens. I want the foam but the resho8 is the best Ive used so far
That seems like a huge waste of money...just go get some laundry soap, some oxy-clean (powder form) and if needed, some foaming agent. Foaming agent can get expensive ($99 for a gallon) but it's meant to be added to your solution in small quantities, so, it goes a long way. Also, I'd suggest Auto Upholstery cleaners - Chemical Guys CWS20316 Citrus foaming cleaner, works well and is only $11.99 USD for a 16 oz bottle.
The biggest mistake that everyone makes is only going after products that are marketed as "shoe cleaning", those products will 90% of the time be a scam or overpriced/underperforming. Is there any difference between your shoes and the seats in your automobile? Not really. There's foam in most shoes, in the tongue, there's leather and other materials on shoes and in car upholstery, there's stitching in both...there's likely, no difference, therefore, there's no need to get a shoe-specific cleaner.
I’ve only used the reshoevenator and fz150 and the fz150 is the only cleaner that I think works on shoes and it is better then laundry detergent
fz150 is not that good
You just were in the zone bro
@@pranay4059How do you know?
You a GOAT for this 🐐🔥
I've used Scrubbing bubbles bathroom cleaner on ALL of my sneakers for years and it works great! That with hot water and a dish towel, cleans bottoms and fabrics too. The key to keeping icy bottoms clear also is to clean them with EACH wear and rinse with hot water.. Free game.
You didn’t use the fz150 correct
When Elliot sees that foam those shoes no longer have a home!
I loved this type of video ❤❤
Hey Elliot! From where are these nice purple white socks?😮
Fz150 fan boys are gonna be mad with this one
Lowkey kinda salt bruh 😮😅😂
My best solution to clean sneakers that so far have worked for me all the time is: detergent with toothpaste. Mix both together and the results are insane
Just on white?
Nice!!! Lots of hard work put in for this one. I would agree, detergent.
You deserve more subs I hope u get 1 mil😊
Man I hate walking through the mall and trying to avoid those shoe cleaning dudes. Every one of them wearing panda dunks, got the nerve to yell to me across the mall “Yo Fire Red 4s, come over here and let me holla at you for a quick sec!” Boy I unDS’d these today you better let me be 😂😂😂
When they call out my shoe I say “That’s what these are? Cool and keep walking”
@@5lhorse476 oh I like that. That’s good
Lol they tried to get me when wearing my black cat 4s for the second time and they still look brand new. I said look at my shoes bro, I'm good ✌️
Bro can’t even clean shoes right💀💀
Hi Elliot, can you please make a video about sneaker protect products as well?
Soooo can you do this same test with the same products you bought on a nubuck and sude shoes since those are harder then a leather. I’m curious on how reshove8er does since I already own them and Pink miracle Shoe Cleaner
When you want your shoes to be fixed, FZ150 does the trick 😉
And when I see the foam, I’m in my zone
FZ150 is a scam. Awesome Orange Degreaser and Dawn soap from home works infinitely better.
Wow I just saved myself 150 bucks
Damn, I really appreciate it bro you save me from the FZ150 I was thinking of buying. I kinda clean my shoes with shampoo/degreaser at home & tbh they don’t come out bad & I clean them pretty good. I wanted to try FZ150 due to the promotional videos but you saved me from it. Much appreciated 🙏🏼
are yall actually cleaning these shoes fr or wat ? fz150 is great ive had plenty resales on shoes
I have fz150 and it works great. You really need to scrub the shit out of shoes with stains as bad as these. In the case of this video, I’m positive (all) the shoes would have looked better with some more elbow grease. Dish soap or detergent will Forsure work, but I like supporting fz150. Also, it’s safe on all colors and materials. When I see the foam I’m in my zone
He didn’t clean the shoes right before applying FZ150. He didn’t pre wash the gunk like it says to do
@@daytripping So you say you tried FZ150 and pure curiosity how does it work when painting the white button of shoes?
He used all of these poorly only relying on the solution rather than getting that gunk off first so it straight up just mixed into the materials
Can you make a video on how to clean the yellow midsole? Like ultraboost or something. Thanks!
Awesome test and I just saved myself 150 bucs. I always use detergent before the sneaker craze and only specialized cleaner I ever bought was to clean Ugg boots...but for cheap sneakers detergent with a nice soft brush is all it takes.
I had doubts that this might be a sponsored vid but glad he’s being honest…ive been cleaning my sneakers using toothpaste and decent brush for years now…it smells good and doesn’t ruin the shoe material…i can say that most shoe cleaning brands are scams
ngl, same. toothpaste actually does wonders.
Could be a ad for the detergent company 🤯😂💯
oh yeah... toothpaste is the best
When I made a video saying Fz150 really doesn’t work the fanboys had a lot to say. I wonder if they’re going to do the same with you
BTW, When a new video about crease protectors, waterproof/repellent or soleshields?
Face slapping every hyped shoe cleaner😂 legendary❤❤❤
Fz150 is a good general cleaner. Just like most others. Not a fan of the staged/ fake videos. Like the one where he insinuated a pair of orange lobsters were skated but they didn’t have a single scuff on them. Or the video where he cleaned a pair of sport blue 3s and the elephant print was completely different in the first and final shots. Don’t get me wrong, he’s great at marketing but I’m just not a fan of giving people false hope, like it’ll work miracles and get rid of actual scuffs
Ngl i think a lot of it is just repainting the shoes to look new
Need 1 more time foam to get on the zoom 😂😂
"Cheap labour" got me💀😂😂
Great video with news daddy !
Great review bud""
Im so glad u did diz .
I been close to buying a few.
i have the crep one and my advice is that you have to rinse the shoes and after your have to pumo te cleaner on the brush (the brush has to be wet and dont forget to go heavy on the cleaner) you have to brush the shoes until they are all foamy than you can wipe off with the microfiber cloth and it will be great. i normally buy my sneakers used because i cant afford it new and crep is great for renovating it in my opinion.
lol BIG fan of 3 amigos vibes, not mad at inviting the boys to come thru
yo you should do winter haul with black friday
Bro those shoes in the thumbnail need a fz 150 lovin
The shoe doc got some explaining to do 😂
Did any of the products have specific instructions different from others?
Nice video thank you very thorough
Probably the best video i’ve seen on the channel. Keep up the quality, Elliot. 😂👏
Haha! Thank you!❤️🔥🙏
this was a great video idea
Okay but can you try how these same products work in the washer I scrub then put in cloth bag and wash brings back my shoes everytime
The shoe doc is coming for this guy right here 😂
I was debating buying fz150 so thank you
I feel like you should make more then one session of scrubbing plus solution especially for the fz150
Great vid guess I’m using detegent from now on
dang i didnt know Elliot had a twin lol 😂😂
What an Awesome experiment!
id love to see project farm do something like this too

Where did you get the sriracha ??
Lmao the white coat is legit 😂😂😂😂😂

Can't wait to see the in Shoe DOC do his version of this test to put FZ150 in a better light. 🎩🔥
Usually use washing up liquid and nail brush type thing, don't get my sneakers too dirty so this just maintains them
Best bet is to get some Dawn power wash spray works wonders!
A mixture of OxiClean powder, Dawn dish detergent (free and clear or platinum), warm water and a nail brush. Does the job every time!!! For white laces, same mixture with a few drops of color safe bleach.
"When I still see the stain, I know I got scammed. I just wasted myself 50 bucks."
For when they jumped in the mud I wasn’t worried about the shoes I was worried about the beautiful clean socks😂
Yeah man I been using tide detergent for years and is still better than any shoe cleaner or even stain remover (like Shout) that I've ever used and is like 50x cheaper than anything else. This video is 100% correct, just get a good brush and you'll be good to go with laundry detergent.
Fz 150 had the best marketing run.
With all my shoes i use soap and a toothbrush. Then to finish off i put some Kiwi quick dry sneaker cleaner on and wipe them dry. That stuff leaves a nice shine on leather 😊
I personally always enjoyed Jason Marxx. Years ago i purchased for over $100 the complete Reshoevn8r kit. The shoe trees probably held most value along with the brushes. I dont find cleaning solution essential at all. Most do have a nice foam. But there is a good chance ill never spend my money on a sneaker cleaner again. Trying different soaps is the fun of it for me.
Dawn dish soap and Dawn power spray for the soles. It cleans your shoes so well
So the foam doesn’t get you in the zone?
Ok what about the cleaners for the suede on Jordan 4 retros unc blue
