I do not know what ASAP is. But I do wish this war to end as soon as possible. USA wants to weaken Russia (and Germany, by the way) and trampels over bodys and sheds blood without a second thought. They are so obsessive in their greed that they have become to me a horrid country, although I grew up in love and gratitude for "the Americans" who saved us from communism. Well, they did. But they turned into a monster since, and I utterly despise them now for their cruel and ruthless regime change operations and for throwing people infront of canons just for economical reasons... The most fertile grounds of the world are in Ukraina - and it is US-oligarchs who are now the owners of 2/3 of these precious land. Yet, they poison this gift of heaven with their uran-ammunition. Probably the prices of the food they produce in America will go up so high, if Ukrainian food is poisoned that they can afford to loss of the profit of Ukrainian production. Shame upon them! People will die of hunger because of this! Or eat the poisoned food and die of cancer. I wonder how they can sleep at night... .

Viele Folgerungen aus den dargelegten Grundsätzen, die nota bene von Friedman als absolut zwingende Fakten und Basics behandelt werden, werden bis heute als Verschwörungstheorie und oder revanchistischer bzw. revisionistischer Hetze abgekanzelt.
Schon Machiavelli sagte in seinem Werk Il Principe/ Der Fürst, nachdem er die verderbte Taktik des Teilens und Herrschens darlegte, dass eine große Gefahr bestünde, wenn sich die aufeinander gehetzten Mächte der wahren Taktik des Agitators im Hintergrund, des lachenden Dritten, bewusst würden.
Wenn dies geschieht ist es normalerweise aus und die gegenseitig ausgespielten Opfer verbünden sich gegen den wahren Feind im Hintergrund.

I keep saying since years that it's a must to read Brzezinski's books ... it's all there except the imponderabilia. And I hope that they (the imponderabilia) will mess up the plans of the USofA. Equally I hope to live long enough to see the final fall of the US empire which has brought so much misery to the world over barely 1 century. My current country of residence is surrounded by countries which have been bombed to smithereens by the benevolent US Air Force and people live in poverty and chaos. This has nothing to do with the American people (who are equally victims of geo-politics and sacrificed in a second if necessary) but everything with the sick political cast worldwide which is lead by the USofA. Some are the masters - the rest are puppets and lapdogs.

I am Italian. I live in Germany. I lived in UK and worked in France and Spain. I have friends, not facebook friends, real ones who are willing to travel in the middle of the night if I call them, in Switzerland, in UK, in Germany, in Ukraine, everywhere.
Europeans are good people.
But I am a minority. European don't speak a common language, mostly. They don't understand each other and therefore they rely on what their nominated local representative parliaments tell them. Europeans are good people and tend to believe too much what they are told, one day from a party, another day from another party.
It gets even worse when it comes to the European parliament and its president and its leading offices: it is nominated, it is not even elected by the Europeans.
Now, here it comes the funny part.
War is good for business. The Rothschild's gained their fortune by financing wars across Europe. They financed Napoleon's empire. Yes, other wars, other divisions are around the corner here in Europe.
We can avoid those wars and divisions by simply start talking to each other, not letting our "corrupted" (by power) leaders speak on our behalf and lead us again, and again, to the next conflict.
Look at Iceland: they arrested the bankers after the crisis and now they are recovering much faster than any other country.
Are the bankers responsible for all this? No. We are responsible of every action we take. Let's grow up, Europeans. Let's be more mature.
p.s. My gf is American, I have friends in South Africa, Namibia, Burundi, Egypt, South America, China, ex employees in India and Hong Kong. We are all good people, we should just talk more.
How sad, it was only due to America’s help with the hundreds of billions of dollars invested into European nations after World War 2 to help it recover from a war they the Europeans started and begged for the USA to come to their salvation. If it was not for the US help, Europe would be speaking German and under the control of Nazis. The USA military has kept the worlds seas and oceans safe to ship good without fear of being pirated. Without the USA, Europe would have taken decades to rebuild their manufacturing base. That’s because the USA was the o oh nation left that had a viable manufacturing base from which to rebuild the world after WW2. We protected Europe from the Soviet scourge and brought the Soviet system to ruin. Europe would be a third world region after WW2 without the help us the USA’s Marshall Plan. So instead of hating on American think about what America has done for Europe. America is not perfect and we make a ton of mistakes but the world is far better off than it would be without the USA.

I can imagine, it might be hard to accept this for an native american. But I think the world has changed, many people think different, than 70 years ago. The first step respect each other is talk to each other, satisfy accords and agreements. Thinks like "I make America great again and therefore I withdraw every agreement I personally don't like" is the exactly opposite or respect.

This lecture of George Friedman is a very rough sketch of Europe. It only containes one smale view. He is talking about the treaty of Maastricht, given the people of europe a new prospective. There is just one generation grew up in this time, sharing and evolving new values, so they start seeing themself as European. But these people don't claim relevant positions right now, because they are stil to young. He is talking about that the us should creat vassals, like they better had done in Iraq, etc. But he don't mention that Germany isn't a suvereign state since 8. may 1945. Я её спросил долго ли она путешествует по РФ, она ответила, что месяц. Тогда я спросил, видела ли она телеканал "Дождь" или любые ресурсы "Эхо Москвы", "Радио Свобода". Она, конечно, не видела. В Германии любое подобное заведение закрылось бы спустя неделю, оставив после себя только горы судебных долгов!!! Я спросил её, откуда немецкие СМИ берут новости, она ответила дословно: "из жизни". Я не смог удержаться от смеха, пытался объяснить как работают информагентства - ОНА НЕ ЗАХОТЕЛА СЛУШАТЬ!
И этому есть простое объяснение. Один из столпов американской культуры (транслируемой на весь запад) - ПООЩРЕНИЕ ЛЕНИ УМА ВО ВСЁМ, ЧТО НЕ КАСАЕТСЯ РАБОТЫ. У нас в России тоже пытаются внедрить такую модель, но могучее советское образование так расширило круг людей способных мыслить, что сломать это общество не получилось даже у Сороса. Мыслить нашим людям, на удивление, понравилось, как и китайцам. На самом деле всё, что Сорос тут получил за свои деньги - это красивые отчёты! За годы имитации бурной коммунистической деятельности мы научились писать красивые бумажки как, вероятно, никто другой. Даже при отрицательных результатах. А дураков и без Сороса тут было море, увеличить их количество у него не вышло, разве что имеющиеся стали порадикальней. Поверьте, радикальные русские дураки несут опасность для всего европейского континента!

As intelligent and well spoken as George Friedman is, I find his encyclopedic knowledge of world events a little lacking, especially in terms of the harsh realities that actually control our country, and our world. I particularly dislike his use of the word, "empire" when describing the United States, the belief in global hegemony that has caused all of our problems in the first place.
He continuously lauds the relative strengths of America, while scrupulously AVOIDING the mountainous problems, including our untenable debt, governmental corruption, unending wars of aggression (the 'empire' word I described), and things like Bill Clinton's ludicrous NAFTA agreement that sent all of our good jobs to Mexico and China, starting our entire downward slide into oblivion. Worse still, not a single world about the malfeasance of The Federal Reserve Bank, and the utter destruction of anything close to be called, "a free market economy." And never even once does he use the word, "MANIPULATION," which has sown the very seeds of our ultimate destruction. In other words, Mr. Friedman raises a lot of good QUESTIONS, without offering many good SOLUTIONS.
With all his marvelous understanding of history, Mr. Friedman still adheres to a distorted, Pollyanna view of US global power and superiority that is rapidly coming to an end.

As a german I grew up believing, that the USA wants everybody to cooperate under their world view / the "western" paradigm, and where active in pushing for it on all fronts. So it struck me the most, that he has practically given up on EU and NATO: in the future the US would cooperate with states that have made up their mind like Turkey and Poland, and have a wait and see approach to the Eurozone / countries, that have lots of internal debate going on.
The USA can't be neutral / hands-off to the fate of the EU! So because the times are bad, and history "proves" that the EU will never unite, we stop waisting time and political effort and just watch the drama unfold and adapt to it as we go?!? That is his advice??

Late response but of course the US can be neutral. A little over 50% of US trade is done with its neighbors (Canada and Mexico) while only about 10% of trade is done with Europe. US policy for the foreseeable future seems to be let Europe fix their own problems and focus on North America (Canada, US, Mexico).
In fact, an unstable Europe is probably beneficial to the US because the EU is now a major economic competitor to the US. The days of the US trying to spread its ideals throughout the world (“spread democracy”) are over, everybody’s on their own now.

I feel if we always look at the past and past hates, to devise future direction it becomes very fatalistic. While understanding the existing stories, one needs to think and plan the future with wisdom, with benefit for the many, yours and others in mind and some thing brand new for the better.
This needs courage , good communication to explain to people and carry them in that direction while creating bonds with the enemy.
The current leaders are prisoners of the old narratives and have no courage that is real. There is mistrust and what you believe will happen like a prayer. Believe differently. Talk about it sell to others. Different will happen.

They do not need to go up to the Polish border, they also do not need to be stationed there like NATO in Afghanistan for 20 years.
