    This is brilliant.
As an admirer of Ralph, at first I did not know whether to be annoyed or pleased by this send up.
I quickly came to the conclusion that this was more of a send up of the belief that music in itself, especially classical music, is often very formulaic in its structure and that the musicians in the sketch rely on instinct, improvisation and natural ability, more than playing by formula.
And this, of course, is where the sketch effectively pays homage to Ralph, who is himself a master of instinct, improvisation and natural ability.....and of course, who, as an itinerant busking musician, recognised that money was to be made by writing a book "simplifying" things for the less talented, by providing a structured formulaic plan for such lesser mortals.
I would also question the significant absence of Angus, who, with his schoolboy approach to all things music, would have made him a reliable witness.

@@jobeyyyy he definitely doesn’t stop playing. Knopfler’s right hand technique involves him using his thumb, but also using fingers one and two.
With his fingers, he both picks up and also strikes down, which to some, might seem like he’s stopped playing because they’re only looking at his thumb.
This is definitely live though, he even slightly fluffs the second last chord.

@@keshoasubuhi I had to look up Tippex, we don't have it in the U.S. What we have is Liquid Paper, which was invented by Bette Nesmith Graham, mother of Monkee Michael Nesmith. I am not making this up!

I don't know who the guitarist is, but it sounds like the beginning of pachelbel's Canon in D.
