- The first SVRs of the season were recorded today!! Funny how this happens on a MRGL risk day when yesterday was a SLGT risk day and I only got an SVA. Hoping for more action soon!

damn, I wonder how you can actually not get disturbed by those radios when a EAS alert is on when you're asleep.

When I get alerts, they're NEVER on tv so I just stay tuned to my tablet. I'm kinda scared to get a radio.

I'm the only one in my household (6) who doesn't go to sleep during tornado watches. I stay up for the duration of the watch time till the end of it. I think I'm the weather radio.
I get a lot of EAS tests here though. Maybe I'll record one someday.
I live in Canada, so we have a different alerting system. But we do have our own weather radio system called weatherradio canada.

hello i live in Syracuse {Liverpool} New york and i have the midland hh54 weather radio and it never goes off in my area at all and i hope it never goes off . the clip on the back is broken. i did not brake it one day i pick it up the clip and saw it some how broke but i have the strap i use. and did you know the people from the tv show Jersey shore live were your radio is going off for in this video. jenny lives in toms river and the house was by the Jersey shore and so was the tshirt shop untill it was damaged by hurricane sandy. i found out the house was not hit by sandy and it was fine

Quick question: What’s the difference between a Special Marine Warning and a Severe Thunderstorm Warning? Aren’t they the same thing?
Special Marine has tornadoes
severe thunderstorm warnings and special marine warnings are the same. but special marine warnings only occur in coastal areas
in my opinion, i would refer to special marine warning (SMW), as the marine/coastal areas version of severe thunderstorm warning (SVR)
A special marine warning is to remind boaters for where they’re out in the water and a thunderstorm happens so it doesn’t damage the boats or make them sink severethunderstorms are
