That is what impressed me most for Earthy. he tapped the defender on the shoulder to let him know he was there, he backed off, the defender ignored him, and he sprinted to the front post for a tap in. Tony Cottee would have loved that

I've said for years that the biggest problem for youth players is the absence of the old Combination League. Boys v boys just doesn't prepare them adequately for the step up. The u21's run in the cup this year, beating EFL teams would have given them more experience than any amount of youth play.

Earthy’s movement is really impressive, as in he’s not just hungry but he’s been really watching and studying our movement layers, coz when kudus has the ball he often cuts inside and when he does if he crosses he usually lobs to the back post and earthy waited back at the back post for this as soon as he see kudus cut to the beline then he makes he’s move and darts to the front post. That’s serious intelligence and shows he a student of the game watching our players so he came come on to gel with them and make an impact. That wasn’t a fluck. And he’s touch looks great and is constantly running and moving. This kind d has real potential! Agree I think he needs to fill out a bit. It will happen. Let’s be patient with him though like man city have been with Foden. Let him grow and learn and could be a serious player

funny you should mention Liam Delap - somebody pointed him out to me only last week as an example of a player that has been given a chance to appear in the first team, when in reality, even though he has had his Man City debut, he then went out on loan three years on the trot. Looks like they are just trying to get him some experience so they can sell him on.

I was re-watching the goal couple of times last night and actually, Bowen deserves a little bit more credit than you’re giving him. He wasn’t static, he was moving toward the ball, but I think he sensed George behind him, and the fact is he drew 2 1/2 of the Luten players toward him, leaving the lane to run behind. All credit to George for recognizing that and taking advantage.
As for Earthy not getting the opportunity under Moyes this season, it took 3 minutes before Alvarez knocked him into another dimension. He’s a class player but he really isn’t developed physically enough yet. I grant that it was a freak occurrence, nevertheless, in a class of bodies, George got utterly smashed.

The difference between the 2 FA Cup wining youth teams was money!! Redknapp didn't have the equivalent budget of Moyes, so couldn't go and buy ready made internationals for each position. He had to go looking for bargains (often players that had failed elsewhere for whatever reason) and filled the gaps with youth team players. Typical Harry saying in a presser was 'I'm down to the bare bones so I'm having to play the kids' whenever there was an injury crisis. He was already using some of the winning FA Youth Cup team in the first team squad before they won that trophy.
