Honestly - thank you for writing that. I really wish ppl could stop the incessant chimping about who is better than who. It’s so mindnumbingly contraproductive. Just thank god for putting you in front of a screen where juice like this comes flowing right at you, and also thank those like Matteo who their time in and, upon that, shares with us.
I was a freshman in high school when Eddie came on the scene...I was too young to understand what he did to the music scene... Now I'm witnessing it with this kid... Game changer.
I wonder how many of Matteo's honored critics would be willing to get upon the stage with him? This kid is fantastic tone, spacing, time, feel. Every single composition he covered is a masterpiece. I hope he develops into the composer and arranger on the level of musician he already is
This kid has absolutely everything. Total facility, total musicality, great taste and phrasing. I know Holdsworth is an influence, but to my ear Mancuso is much more musically consonant. Amazing.
Ha - loved the celebration when he nailed that Guthrie tapping section on the second attempt. His improvisations over the track show his obvious technical prowess. Amazing player!
His father, Vincenzo Mancuso, was for years the guitarist (live/studio) of one of the most important Italian singer-songwriters, Francesco De Gregori. He grew up in the middle of Music and with Music (the serious Music, not the shit we're forced to listen to today) for which he was "marked" to become an excellent musician !!! :)
Good to know I was very self conscious of my guitar after hearing him , but I am self taught and have only been playing for 4 years or so so I won’t give up
@@Itsnotbrettreddell Man you get players who’ve had great training and after 20 years still can’t play that great. And you get people like andy james who was completely self taught and is now one of the biggest names in guitar. It’s all up to you. BRAVO!! His TONE is what made alllll of his chops more enjoyable. Being a Guthrie Govan fan, Shawn Lane, Allan Holdsworth, etc... it’s all about there tone. Dudes got a bright future ahead. Love it
Truly one of the most gifted guitarists of this era. He's the logical successor to Guthrie Govan with his stunning technique, range and feel. I expect him to be study material in music schools. Let's hope he continues to play and entertain us with his magic for decades to come!
A true master of the instrument. His musicality and fluency are unlike anything heard before. Yes, the references to Holdsworth and the more recent Govan are there, but Matteo brings them to a whole new level of excellence. Grandissimo.
Virtuosity in a cold climate. For me, he's the most exciting young player out there. His awareness of what he's doing, communicates directly with the audience.
Incredibile che possa ancora apparire qualcuno che fa qualcosa di mai visto (tecnicamente), mi fa sperare che si possa inventare qualcosa di nuovo anche musicalmente!
I find myself listening to Matteo play on daily basis & usually my jaw drops on the floor ! Purest talent I've heard in my entire life ! ... Which planet he originates from only he could tell ! Beyond sublime !!!
No doubt. It just lacks the "listenability".. It's too all over the place to be readily enjoyable.. If it had some steady rock hooks and grooves it would be more accessible.. I'm sure many will disagree though
Spain was awesome , I did not know it was one of Chick Korea's . I heard it before in one from John Mclaughlin and Paco De Lucia's concert . I loved the song so much, especially the main riff or melody whatever that is, it's so beautiful . This is the link to the John Mclaughlin concert where I first listened to Spain , you might find it worth watching -: czcams.com/video/l25c0LDFkz4/video.html
It’s interesting how he plays at two angles for his right hand, one where it’s the position for playing a pick at 45 degrees (but without a pick), and another angle where it’s more like classical guitar so he can pluck the strings directly up. The first angle enables more string muting because the thumb can rest on the bottom strings, but the second angle enables a crisper sound because he is plucking straight up instead of at a diagonal angle. Both hand positions have their use.
A lot of classical players switch from the first position of the RH to the other position for different reasons. I know when I play usually my RH is mainly in the first hand position, and then switch to the more direct angle for rest strokes and/or a brighter tone. I think he does the different angle for speed and rest strokes a lot.
Matteo, simply a superior mind. Everything starts from the brain. Technique, musical creative ideas, phrasing, musicality and more are direct consequences. First of all, he has an incredible head, that's what I think. In every musical genre his performance is the top.
Es un talento fresco , con técnica ,muy llena de vida , creo que el estilo resalta el alma de este guitarrista . Sin duda es lo mejjor que he oído y visto en muchos años .
Yo go cop some 80’s joe pass and all of Wes Montgomery’s catalogue . He kinda does use a bass style but it’s it’s own thing in my book!! Not trying to start a argument your comment is totally spot on it’s not my place to say.
Any time I listen to MM feel excitement. We are witnessing an exceptional musician, one who is a rare gem, among the greatest ones. And he is so young his future is bright! Thx for the great uploading.
Mind blowing. That's all I can say. (Slight pause,...then the soft swishing sound of my guitar flying out the window as it crashes to the ground below.) LOL
Great stuff, Matteo. Your right hand technique is impeccable and more unique than any other electric player around, ever. Looking forward to seeing your growth as the years proceed.
I admire a lot the skills of this amazing guitarist: I saw him playing the classical, jazz and prog rock music and also explaining his right hand technique, style pf playing and improvisation. He does know what he is doing. I am amazed how much talent he has, and he looks so genuine. This is the discovery of the year for me.
As a long time guitar player I always thought it would make sense to play the current styles of guitar with your right hand fingers but there was no way I could start over again, it's awesome to see this. Great playing dude. I have to start looking for his music.
Sessantunmo anni e circa 55 di musica che grazie a mio papà ho imparato ad ascoltare senza peconcetti. Continuo ad ascoltare di tutto con prevalenza jazz. Great performance, with your own tone and fingerstyle technique. Guthrie should be proud of this excellent cover.
