Exactly the info I was searching for. Thanks for sharing your test results.
Any time I think about doing something stupid with my Mavic, I think: i should check Chris's CZcams channel and voilá
EXACTLY
Adam West it's a good test I think, what if you were retrieving a downed drone off a roof.
keep up the good work Chris, I love your videos. I cant wait for my mavic to arrive.
As always mate, thanks for testing and removing any temptation for me to do so! :)
ANOTHER TEST WOULD BE TO PUT 3 POUNDS IN THE BOTTLE...THEN LEAVE IT ON THE SCALE. THROTTLE UP AND SEE WHAT WEIGHT REMAINS ON THE SCALE. THE DIFFERENCE IS YOUR MAX LIFT WEIGHT!
Joshua Rodriguez the wind from the props will push on the scale though
Very true. Didn't think of that. The work around is to have the string at a length like 10 feet so it wot effect it. Also this brings up a good point... wouldn't the wind with the current set up effect the load as well?
Joshua Rodriguez it lifts exactly 1kg no more than that
Another option would be to use a fish scale.
Joshua Rodriguez good thinking
A nice piece of info! Props for including metric measurements ☺️
Awesome! I was just thinking about this exact thing earlier today thanks for the video!
Thanks Chris, knowledge is power!!
I was waiting for the jug to explode from a prop hit and soak his magic, but nice test , now I know I can deliver zips & packs a couple miles out haha
I gotta be honest, you are the most serious funniest youtuber I have seen. Hahahah
Do you think i can add extra 2 battery for longer autonomy if this hing can lift this weight. ?
Thank you, I just got the "item drop kit" and I really wanted to know what the mavic pro could do.
Thanks for this test!!
The Mavic's lift performance will change depending on your density altitude too. You might be able to lift a little more on a cold, dry day at sea level (assuming you're not already at sea level)
What are your mavic pro controller sensitivity settings?
thanks for doing this experiment brother, i just purchased a mavic pro and was wondering how much it could lift.
Looks like you've been trying to lift the back shed in the corner too! Any recommendations - I need to carry and drop a cricket ball.
Awesome! Two ideas. Use a fish scale upside down as that will measure the exact pull.
Secondly, I'd LOVE to see how it does if you loop the string through the feet and try to lift from "behind" the center of gravity.
Awesome stuff though man.
Nice vid!! Phew, could only imagine what your Mavic would need to have done to be in good refurbished condition LOL. Just got mine and am extremely PROTECTIVE over it and can’t even imagine doing the things you do to yours to mine but it helps with questions I had/have not to mention know what NOT to do. Haven’t even flown it yet until I watch more vids so I don’t have a heart attack and lose/damage mine. Subscribed 😌
Life's short
Was that as high as it can go or did you just stop it from going up higher
Was the drone on P mode or Sport mode ???
Great test! Would you do a wind text next? I flew in 10-15 MPH winds! No problems!
Thanks for this video!
You can look up the motors thrust values in relation to the size/pitch prop used and calculate almost the exact lift capacity or im sure DJI already states this information somewhere?
Would he have 221K views for that?
I've been thinking about getting one for light lifting around the house, like fetching my shoes from another room, or other light things when I don't want to get out of my chair, but even though this could apparently carry my shoes, it's SO loud that, living in apt. building, I think it might bother the neighbors. Sounds about as loud as a vacuum, so I guess I could run it for quick bursts during the day, which is all I'd need, but still.....so loud.
I don't know much about these things, but I'm assuming there is a motor for each fan, and it would probably be quieter to have one motor and a belt drive to run all the fans. That might reduce the dB some. I wonder if anyone makes drones like that?
Was payload mode engaged? Great test btw🎉🎉
How long could it carry the 2lbs?
Did you use the same battery the whole time?
Thank you for doing these for us)
weight X on scales. Attach Mavic. go to full throttle and look at weight on scales again. Minus 2nd weight from the first and that should give you its maximum lift in one try? Ps think sports mode would make a difference
To heck with the Mavic... Your shed is about to tip over!!! Catch it!! :)
😭😭😭
This would also depend on how high you are above sea level and also air temperature.
Gonagain hi. I’m not much of a physics person but do drones fly better in colder temperatures or hotter?
@@terrycheung2408 between hot and cold
To cold battery life decreases
To hot drone components over heat.
impressive!!! good to know a camera bird that has a good payload cap. i cant afford a Mavic, happy with my Aton.
cool experiment Chris... were you not worried that you might burn out the motors or something? mavic was sure working it's nuts off there
I need to know if a payload can be put ON TOP of the Mavic. I need to mount a special camera on it and want to know if it is possible. Total weight around 250 ounces
No it holds around 10 ounces
dude?? you're in Tejas? where about? i am in North Houston (Conroe).
we should do some collaborations.
Is the mavic there on sport mode?
cool! loved it!
im thinking getting a drone if its capable of lifting 20grams of weed around the blocks to my regulars??
Tim Wynn mavic can do that no problem
This dude kinda looks like the "rapper" Krispy Kreme lol. This video had me laughing the whole way through. When the props hit the string and you jumped out of the way, that was hilarious.
What part of Texas I'm in DeSoto DFW area
Did you have it in Sport mode? I know it sport mode you can climb in altitude a few m/s faster.
I doubt Sport mode would make a difference. The setting would be for vertical *_speed_* not lift. Could try it though...
Good idea since Going faster means faster spinning blades which means more power
corey bkguy
I think it will do the opposite. I'm not an expert on this matter, but I think faster gears mean more speed and less power. If you look at a car, you can get a higher speed in second gear than in first gear, but the first gear will pull a higher total weight.
I don't know if the gears in a drone will work in the same way tho, but I would definitely be interested to see an experiment on this subject.
@@Luc-1991 doesn't have gears. its magnetic spun motors. im guessing its a different programing on when the electrical current is sent
Yes I'm sure it would make a difference
All tests was in sports mode ?
Thanks very helpful, Now I know how many beers that I can deliver at once to my friend Across the lake
Did u ever consider there are batteries and they die then you recharge them
Hi friend! Great test! now I know how many can of beer should i ask for my mavic brings to me!
That's about 3 beers if they're in cans.
How far can you fly with that weight
The error message Overcurrent Discharge was interesting.
Hey is the phantom 4 pro is good or mavic 2 for wieght lifting
the phantom 4 pro is able to lift more weight!
Ukraine thanks you. Lol. Very helpful. I’m actually working on my senior design project for my engineering degree. I need to test a light weight balloon payload but we are afraid it’s not getting the needed signal being on the ground. I told them I may be able to get it up a few hundred feet. Lol
Thanks for posting! I myself don't have the balls to try that but always wanted to know. lol
Why does he do this? So we don't have to. Thanks buddy. Tell Ed hi from me. Ken.
To get more likes and more subscribers. Simple as that :-) He also seems to have the money to buy another Mavic if he destroys that one. Like when he was trying to land it on a moving truck or when he was doing the shutting off test. Mostly entertainment :-)
Mike Santis : good call Mike. It is entertaining and informative at the same time. You're not pushing your Mavic this hard?
Why should I??? What's the point??? I use my Mavic as a part of my photo business Not as a toy. And I will have a hard time to replace it if something happens to it. But Chris don't seem to have this problem. So one more reason he is probably doing this kind of stuff.
Mike Santis : Mine is for my hobby but it's still expensive and I don't want to have to replace it just to try something crazy. Take care Mike!
Exactly my point.
2lbs 3 oz. I saw another video test this and that's how much his could lift
aar00n08 I think that was my video you saw! Thanks!
Can you do a new video but the same thing Carying the water in side the milk jug but this time you have to fly the drone wile carying the milk jug with water inside
Phantom be like. You lift bro?
TheRealMonster triggered much? Lock yourself in the closet, and were a helmet. The internet may not be a safe place for you.
Bob Brown made me laugh !
Good test. My Mavic can only safely lift about 500kg to 100ft or so.
nice video :)
Why use elastic instead of a firm line? The elastic creates more resistance and pulls the drone towards the milk jug.
just when i thought he could not get any crazier ! OMG i was waiting for something bad to happen, glad it did not. LOL
Never forget that flying a drone is a lot like flying a lawn mower ;-)
if you go to sport mode it will deliver a little more horse power ya
Where in Texas are you from, mate?
Tyler! Where are you
Mavic engines were screaming...... good video. Better your Mavic than mine
Cool !
I feel like if you used a non stretchy rope it would be easier on the mavic
I think what easily connect mavic directly to the scale and see his power of rising
Youll burn out your motors dude
For the last 4 mins I've been waiting for your drone to explode 😂 . Also, do you not value your feet ?
You should have used a newton meter for an exact result
need lil drone fuselage- backpacks, or belly packs and solid affordable release mechanisms for deploying life saving payloads like first aid kits - water bottles, micro flotation device - life guards need to be able to use drones. I would think the pay for a life guard would go up with the induction of these wonderful tools into the world of first response.
Am I the only one waiting for a propeller to snap under load and go through an artery? Nice video :)
Firefighting drone?
I tried this i will upload n my channel it was bad it fell of on a roof 😔
i have the same reaction after i eat a lot of cake i just don't want to get up.
I would've liked to see the drone go a bit higher while it was carrying that weight, but good video over all.
Enough to drop a water balloon on your neighbors. Here come the drone prank vids...
One pintone pound
OH stay tuned to my channel already warned my neighbors their might be some water bombs coming soon hahaha
if you put in sport mode it will work
My drone can't even lift a gallon of milk
That's awesome. I knew The Mavic could life more, we just had a crappy scale.
Sounds like a gazillion bees
why do people get so damn butthurt over what someone else does with their stuff?
Need to know how much can be flown over the border 😂
So I can bring my buddy a beer with my drone no problem?
at least you keep line of sight, it's probable
and don't forget the tan and cos of earth rotation can cause inertia from several angle curvature of what the heck
Great video bro, did you guys hear about DJI not supporting Android anymore? that sucks for all of us Android users not to be able to fly with our devices, first i didn't believe it until me and my friends drones stopped working, this is bullshit..
You're going to fry your ESC's doing that. Unfortunately, from the Phantom 3 to all latest DJI drones, the ESC are no longer modular, if you manage to fry one, you are going to replace the whole board.
You crack me up
It does not feel like you are pushing it
If it was me. I'd use Eds drones for the test :)
So I just watched a 360 video of an F-16 inflight refueling. I immediately thought: "Why not put this on a drone." I hope that's what you are up to... would be very cool.
Would love to see it try and recover from a decent with even 1 lb on it. Gotta fly low and slow
excelente teste like
OK, so test how long and high it can lift say, 1000 grams...
poor mavic pro
there should be some kind RSPCA for abused drones
Vladek Ro jajajaja
RSPCD! :D
Why drones
I would rather get this drone sites.google.com/site/MavicAlternative
Sounds like whirling death
why is the shed in the background leaning and tipped to one side ? ... it kept distracting me
Because lift bro? Obviously he lost his weights..
To można obliczyć
0.75kg x 5m/s + 9.81m/s
Czyli około.
1.5g x0.75= 1.1kg udźwigu
Czy ten ziom wygląda Ci na kogoś kto cokolwiek w życiu obliczyl?
A tak przy okazji to jlz czego wyprowadziłes ten wzór?
Ok so I can strap a Vr Headset on a Drone and play like that...nice to know
Change your motors to F80 or F60 and you will be flying without a problem one motor can lift your quad and the milk bottle.
All it see if it can lift the shed back to level...
So it's possible to fly half a killo of cox across the New York lol
haha
MyHappyLife. Maan it is possible all you need is a bit of brain
rodrigo lopez lol
Ucgs is just one the ways you can preform long range deployments
A far more faster and precise way to do it would be put a large weight, more than the mavic could handle over a scale, push "tare" on the scale and try to lift that wight with the drone progressively to full power. The reading of the scale at this moment will be the max lift force of the drone. Note this will not be the max the drone can carry.
Marcelo Marchesoni the wind from the props will push onto the scale
If you use a kitchen style scale and a short string to tie the weight, yes. Using a longer string, maybe. Or no if using a hook scale like this www.amazon.com/niceEshop-Digital-Fishing-Scale-Hanging/dp/B00JP8BG10/ref=sr_1_20?ie=UTF8&qid=1493742594&sr=8-20&keywords=hook+scale. In this case, set the scale to zero hanging without any wight apllied, and hang the scale upside down, to include itself weight in the final reading.
