- Hedge trimming this evergreen privet hedge, this backyard hedge gets trimmed a handful of times throughout the growing season. Using a makita battery hedge trimmer for this job. We cut the sides of the hedge first, then trim the top, and clear up all the debris.

Great job. You are one of the few hedge trimmers on social media who actually trims the bottom of the hedge. I don't think a hedge is complete without the bottom trim.
Yeh it does make the hedge stand out more, i didnt do a tight line on this one as trying to get the gap from the ground smaller. Cheers
You're so right. It's frustrating to see it done over and over.
Perfect job 😊
Sharp, it makes a world of difference when the hedge is clipped underneath as well...loving this
Yeh i like the look of a trimmed bottom 🤣. I didnt cut too much off this one as trying to let it get closer to the ground. 👍
@@RJLgardens clever clever lmao
Wow that is some Sharp edges ❤ respect 🤘
Cheers 👍
Bravo, good work! Rudi.
Cheers 👌
Absolutely amazing.
Thanks for checking it out 👌
Fantastic trimming 👌
Thanks for checking in 👌
great job🥰🥰
Thanks 😊
Great job. Relaxing to watch. Amazing how you trim the hedge so evenly.
Cheers, its not perfect just yet 😅
It would seem, well, what's the big deal here - a man is trimming a hedge with some kind of iron thing. But in fact, this man creates beauty, and it is a pleasure to watch his work.
Thanks for watching
Grade Job guy
👍
its neat
👌
Amazing skill to cut hedges like this.
The hedge cutters are not your average hedge cutters from B & Q they look very expensive and cut so sharply.
Great to watch 👍
Thanks, these are relatively cheap and common hedge trimmers, not top spec by any means, but yes much better than the cheap crap 😅
makita's cutting nice mate 🌲👍
And the one who handles it is extremely gifted 😊🙂👍👏👌
Certainly was mate, nice easy job with sharp blades, hope your keeping well 👍
@@sylviacheve7837 Thanks Sylvia, I'm just a normal gardener, nothing special 😂
Hi, just found your channel and subscribed. Great job. How long did that hedge take? Looking good 👍
❤
😊
Have cut out of shape at any time? How did you manage it?
How long or how many years does it take to reach that height. would love to have this in my backyard! Awesome work
This dense and tall a hedge, prob around 15 yrs, maybe more depending on how big to start with. Cheers 👍
Hi, fascinating work! Just wondering what brand is the ladder you using? I need one as well!😊
Thanks, they dont make this ladder anymore.
Great video. How often do you sharpen the blades on the hedge trimmer attachment?
Cheers. Whenever they need it really. I've got loads of trimmers that share the workload so they never get too dull, on average I probably sharpen once a month. 👍
Where did you get the blade catcher guard thingy? Have you got a part number for it? Thanks
These aren't the standard blades mate, you need the little plastic top guards like on the handheld models, thats the only way this catcher plate will clip on.
@@RJLgardens i see, are they the blades off the 750 then? i didnt realise they were interchangeable, thats neat if they are they are presumably longer then giving more reach
@@bidders77 These are my 600mm ones, yeh a bit longer reach which is nice
Nice work! How do you find the battery trimmers compared to the petrol? I need to buy a new trimmer but expect that petrol are more powerful. I cut laurel which can be woody
I use battery more than petrol nowadays, I save the petrol for thick tough jobs or large hedges where i need the long blade length, the battery will handle thickish stuff but the blades blunt too easily, so use it on light stuff mainly.
@@RJLgardens Thanks for the reply - I suppose I should consider a mix of battery and petrol tools going forward in my new gardening business. Keep making the videos - great job
What size tarp is that you’re using buddy?
6m x 1.5m mate 👍
great job whats your machine
Makita dun500wz 👍
Do those grow really fast or is that hedge super old?
Both 😅
Nice job! What ladder are you using?
Cheers, its a youngmans platform step ladder, they dont make this anymore, its 20yrs old 🤣
Pitty it looks verry handy!😉
g la même perche makita que vous avez pouvez vous me dire quelle embout que vous avez mis sur la perche quelle reférence merci
These are not original blades, the catcher plate wont fit on the normal ones.
@@RJLgardens vous avez mis quoi comme lame pour la remplacer
Should you be cutting the hedge during nesting season

My guess is the hedge was checked thoroughly before starting. That’s what most proffesional gardeners like this guy do.
Yep its fine, fully checked beforehand, its only a light trim anyway so unlikely to disturb a nest if there had been one.
@@user-fv8rn4gi3x 👌
I’m a gardener too and try not to
I save my hedge work for sept and through the winter
Clear or not all it takes is a Karen to report you then your on their watch list they’ll keep a close eye on your business
I know this first hand
But regards to this video fantastic hedge cut it looks really sharp dude 😎👌🏼
@@THETATTOOGARDENER83 They can watch me all they want 🤣. I wont be doing anything dodgy to risk my business, just for a hedge trim.
Some hedges are cut multiple times a year, so you cant wait till september onwards.
You just have to do a thorough check. I won't do any heavy tall hedge reductions at this time of year though, its only light trimming of formal hedges. Cheers mate, hope your keeping busy 👍
Does he know that he’s breaking the law?
How so?
Formschnitt ist erlaubt....
das mit der plane ist doch unsinn , interessante leiter , aber nicht für den garten die sollten unten eine quertraverse haben , sinkt ein leiternfuss ein , kippt sie um , bein gebrochen etc
