Free Will is absolutely fundamental in our consciousness and in the universe. We use it in every choice we make. Quantum probabilities in your brain make determinism impossible. Free will decisions that you make, are made in an infinite number of ways, but they all come down to just two things, logic and emotion, with an infinite number of ways that they are weighted and combined to reach a decision.
Think of emotion as being more of an animalistic drive for what you want, and logic as being what you determine to be the best choice for you, either morally or physically. There are an infinite number of combinations that will lead you to a decision. The idea that you could predict that or that it could be predetermined is ridiculous!
Some will be beneficial for you and some will not. If you tend to give in to emotion, it makes you much more likely to develop addictions to what gives you pleasure or makes you feel good. On the other hand, always following logic makes you more methodical and less animalistic.
Both are needed in infinitely varying degrees to make you wholly human, but the more you understand them, the easier it is to recognize attempts at manipulation, and avoid having your consent modified and manufactured by it, in different forms of advertising and persuasion thrust upon you by others and by media, either social or mainstream.
Here is your free will - You can choose to think about something other than what you are currently thinking about at any time. You can change the subject to anything you want, not just follow some mind/body machine program. You can actively suppress thoughts and memories at will and choose to follow a different mental path whenever you want, to as far to any end as you want and make it your new free will reality.

Even with a large enough machine you could never predict everything that happens, as it creates a feedback loop with the reality being measured. It's impossible to know with certainty how incredibly complex events will play out, as the moment you know about them you can act on that information.
However we break causality all day long. Physics tells me that if I turn on the faucet then a combination of gravity and water pressure will make the water fall down into the basin. But "Aha!" ... knowing this I can put a container underneath it and take that water wherever I like. Take that causality!
someone explained this to me as the argument for free-will, and i actually agree with it. When you think about it, the evolution of this universe, even if there is a near infinite multiverse is unique because of that complexity. The unpredictability due to the complexity is not even a consequence of quantum mechanics, but even in a deterministic system, so there really is no concrete way to know what the future is, because you can never gather enough information from the past to find out.
I think that not being able to determine a complex process does not mean it is indeterministic, it is our inability. The real big philosophical issue with determinism is how we are going to hold any one accountable for any thing that he/she does.

Flow of thought is kinda similar to how river runs over small pebbles and rocks, those are solid objects, but they are so many and different it physically impossible to predict how they'll behave under variable water stream. It' also because we have two major chaotic system at play, origin and amount of water is one and composition of ground below the flow is another. Same goes fro any natural system, even if we build artificial river and control everything, we can't predict motion of individual water molecules or planet's condition inside solar system. But if we reduce flow of water to a single drop after another, than we don't have a stream any more, water can't flow like that. Usually rivers are contain inside artificial river beds that are constantly maintained and cleaned. It's because we need to control water flow over the entire city, civilized way of life demands from us shaping natural forces, but it's not necessary to do so, we can just ignore water and adjust our way of life to unpredictable natural cycles.
Consciousness is not a single person, it's entire population, those independent agents always have certain common goals. It's like our brain structure is constantly adjusted to fit our mental self, this is why we can think clear and sharp sometimes or just be when we relax and let go for awhile, knowing brain wont totally collapse over night just because we went to a party and made some mess. We are alive because each cell of our body is alive and free in it's biological realms, yet they all follow certain rules and contribute to a hole.
The problem is thinking free will of mankind means absolute freedom to make choices without consequences. Free will is the relative freedom to make decision free from the constraints of instinct within the laws of nature, both moral and physical. There are rewards for exercising free will within the protective laws but also consequences for defying those laws.
What would a decision look like in the physical brain? Where could it come in before the action? How might a physical decision be described in terms of matter in the brain, and with what requirements?
How might measurement of quantum probabilities bring free will into causal deterministic chain?
Where there is conscious awareness and choice that make up our agency in classic reality, also subconscious neural activity and free will agency in quantum reality. Beneath the quantum reality there could very well be yet another agency based on information.
free will is,.........not the compulsion to say yes, but the conscious ability to say no,....and wrestle with the consequences.
