I love it, turned out soo good. Adding a wooden mantle to your fireplace would look even more beautiful.
We'll definitely be adding one soon! I'm worried we might be very limited due to the built-in being right on the edge of the fireplace but I'm sure we can somehow make it work

I can tell you from experience, kids & brick fireplaces don’t mix. I fell on my parents fireplace as a kid & split my lip open. I think the solution you did looks better & is safer. 👍🏻
