Because the movie was made in 1995, and during that time I believe the military offensive in Zamboanga was at its height. If I were to guess I would say the movie was shot in Palawan since its topography is quite similar to war torn Mindanao and they also have a house on stilts community there as well, and Edward Hagedorn and FPJ were very good friends. 😊

I spent 2 months in Jolo and Siasi island in the early 90's. The Tausug and Badjao were one of the friendliest people I've met. I remember helping this old man collect seaweed in this beautiful water and we would eat it with calamnsi and sili. I wish there was an iPhone back then. I could have captured those moments.

My late father is ex military. Airforce (PAF) to be exact he got the Triple M. Military Merit Medal when NPA's siege the airport during the 70's in Zamboanga. He was able to fixed the damage radio communication during the heat of the fight and called for support and they win the day. Hats off to all the military servicemen/women and their families.

When we were there like 5years ago, the area was almost totally wrecked. You can see destroyed houses, buildings and see huge holes on the cemented walls. When we passed there, we were silenced by what we saw. Our hearts were broken.

When we were there like 5years ago, the area was almost totally wrecked. You can see destroyed houses, buildings and see huge holes on the cemented walls. When we passed there, we were silenced by what we saw. Our hearts were broken.
