A small dab of Vicks VapoRub on your face, arms and the bugs will stay away from you, my mom (1950s) and dad also used a jar with a wick in the lid filled with kerosene to keep the area safe from flying bugs. We still use this now days.

Loved the video! It’s amazing how people trash the land wherever they go! It shouldn’t take a genius to know that body waste should be buried, or carried out. I’m glad you’re talking about it. Maybe some people will listen and change their ways.

Like you said, common sense which seems to be totally unknown to some.

I think people know they're supposed to bury their excrement, they just don't care. And what's going to happen is the Forest Service will just keep closing off more and more areas to motorized vehicles until there is no place left to go.

Right there with you, I could rant for hours. It's to the point where we expect to spend anywhere from 15-30 minutes cleaning up a site when we pull in now. Pack it in Pack it out includes: your garbage, your dogs poop, your poop (pack it or plow it). Pack it in pack it out doesn't mean throwing everything in the fire ring including non-combustibles like cans and bottles. It's lazy and rude. There are countries that can only dream about the amount of and beauty of our publicly owned lands, that some people feel they have the right to trash them is infuriating!

I was at a very clean campsite that I loved. I left for a few days came back and a family was in the same spot so I went down the road and waited for them to leave. The next day I came down the road and it was empty but they had left the fire pit full of trash and dirty baby diapers. I would say they were lucky I didn't get there as they were leaving because they would have picked it all up. People are much nicer when they see you carrying a 12g and a side arm. I'll even supply the trash bags.

I was camping at a very popular camping area on 89A a while back and was also amazed at the amount of toilet paper that was in the shrubbery around the area. So I got a trash bag and started cleaning up and came to an interesting conclusion. There was very little solid waste around and all of these wads of toilet paper hadn't been used for that. It was mostly being left by females after they'd gone #1. Apparently they feel that picking up after themselves is beneath them and I guarantee you could fasten a trowel to every bush within a quarter mile and you'll still find barely used toilet paper everywhere there's a popular place to camp especially if it's near a college town.

Beautiful area down in the canyon. We drove through on 89A, and the scenery is so amazing. We came across a large herd of big mule deer. The north rim road wouldn't open for another week, so that area is still a bucket list item.
That was a very stylish tote bag, I bet it will keep the flour low humidity. 9000 feet, keep breathing deeply. Some folks not experienced with higher altitudes just need to understand, if you're short of breath, breath fast, and deep to reoxygenate. Yeah that's gross about some disbursed campsites, findind used TP starting 20 feet into the woods and brush all around you or tossed into the stream. Worse if your pets find it and bring back to camp 😮 A Five gallon bucket, heavy duty black garbage bag, add kitty litter, lavender scented is popular, do business, finish paperwork, pull out bag of debris, twist and tie, place in garbage like doggie bag or baby disposable diaper, cross finish line as a good citizen.
Perhaps you could do a demonstration video Rick. 😮😅😊.

@@gonagain oh, ok. I will watch it from now on. I basically was just commenting on how some people are so disrespectful of our beautiful country.

You were literally less than a mile from a very nice spot that has some quad traffic, but not like what you're talking about. I stay there through much of the Spring/Summer/Fall and rarely hear any quad noise/dust. There are weekends like the Fourth of July where you run into that more, but not much at this location...

It was a nice area for sure, but we were there in a weekend and lots of folks were out having fun. I would visit the area again though.

californians, skip this post… Flagstaff is an incredible, beautiful city and area. The restaurant scene is really spectacular. I frequently hammock through an entire afternoon in the mountains with elk encounters towards dusk. I’m hoping to find something like this in Montana, Utah, Idaho or Wyoming!

Whose idea was it to go to AZ in the summer?😁 I know AZ has some elevation.

Actually, this wasn't during the summer, the video was taken during May, but as usual, we hit it during a hot streak. I'm old and don't really know how I got this far in life!

Ive wondered for years. Are people too stupid or ignorant to know they should bury their human waste? Or do they just not care!? We see it at dispersed camping in the Lincoln National Forest. And have for years. Anyway. Thanks for the video! Take care!

Where in the world did they get wood to burn.

    • @gonagain
      @gonagain  Před 6 dny

That's an interesting observation because it's been determined that the Mesa Verde indians, Hopi and others, left those areas because they simply ran out of firewood.
