God is The Father, Son (Jesus Christ) & The Holy Spirit. Three divine beings are One as God, this means Jesus is God The Son. This also means our God came to earth as man to teach us our Fathers Word, give us His Church, appointed His apostles first Pope/Priests, gave THEM His power, authority & commanded them to spread His Church Infallibly to the world. He taught, performed miracles, was tortured & died to save us from eternity in hell. We should strive to be more worthy of His sacrifice and love.

This is a great part of our Lord Jesus ministry. Very significant. Ceaserea Phillipi is a very special place. The base of mount Herman. The snow melts and the river just flows up out of the ground. There are alkovs there with all the statues of the pagan gods of the day. How significant of Jesus to be there in front of all those and ask them who they think He is. The pagans thought this was a magical place. It is special and very beautiful. It's a national park and preserve now.

You're confused, pal. In the video, the speaker quoted Matt. 16:16, where Peter said to Jesus: "You are the Son of the living God." Did you get that? Jesus is the Son of God, not God himself.

@@au8363 Again, you show profound confusion. Does John 5:18 say the Jews wanted to kill Jesus because he said he was God? Uh, NO! As the verse said, the Jews took exception to Jesus' claim that God was his Father. And that is exactly what Jesus claimed. As Jesus said to Mary: "I am ascending to MY Father and MY God." (John 20:17) However, Jesus never said he was equal to God. As Jesus said: "The Father is greater than I am." (John 14:28)
I have noticed that you fall into the same mindset as typical trinitarians. You can't prove from the Bible that God is "a unity of three persons," which is what the word "trinity" means. So, you switch to Plan B and then try and prove that the Son of God is actually God himself, which, BTW, makes no sense. Jesus' enemies wanted him dead for claiming to be, not God, but the Son of God. As they said to Pilate: "We have a law, and according to that law he must die, because he claimed to be the Son of God." (John 19:7)
Now, I have a question for you. If Jesus is God, how would you explain John 7:16, where he said: "My message is not my own; it comes from God who sent me"? So, if Jesus is God, then, why did God lie and say that his message was *NOT* his when it really *WAS* his?

If you speak to your priest at your Church, he can guide you in the right direction for support. Preferably find an Old Rite priest for assistance as they will have stronger prayers than the New Rite.

So..is he the son of god or god? At the crucifixion doesnt jesus say ' my god why have you forsaken me?" Are they both gods or the same person? Im confused. Apologies.
Jesus is quoting Ps 22.1 a Messianic psalm. God is One being which is Spirit. To forgive sin a life for a life (substitute) is given. So God a Spirit creates a life in Mary and this Son is God’s Self-revelation to us. At Jesus’ baptism a Voice from heaven saying, "This is My beloved Son." God is holy and God is Spirit, which is invisible. "The Spirit of God descending like a dove" is symbolic recognizing the Messianic identity of Jesus of Nazareth. His blood is given as a sacrifice and payment for our sins which satisfy the penalty of death which Jesus paid. As a human being Jesus spoke of God as His Father because He literally was. Jesus spoke of the Spirit as One who would be with us as "another" (like Himself) comforter. There is only One God, Who is Spirit, revealed in human flesh that is now in the heavens and the gift and promise of the Holy Spirit is not another thing added to the idea of God, but is God Himself living in us (if we receive) from God. Tradition is what confuses us, God is not a mystery because He has revealed Himself through His Word. God made you in His image after His likeness. Paul said Rm 5.14 Death reigned from Adam to Moses.. and Adam "who is the figure of Him that was to come." That is Jesus. We are all literally made in the image and likeness of God, since Jesus is God made flesh.

So here jesus said he cannot do anything on his own and does what father tells him

Sorry but if catholics honour st Peter, then why dont they accept HIS definition of who Jesus was? After all he followed him as close as any disciple! He even heard God the Father speak from heaven & say "This is my SON THE BELOVED" ( 2 Peter 1:17 & Matt 17:1-7) Thus when specifically asked by Jesus himself who Peter believed he was he said "You are the Christ the SON OF THE LIVING GOD". Jesus then commended him! ( Matt 16:16). Peter Never once suggested that Jesus was God Himself, but his SON. Amen

Ok first of all, you can’t be a “messiah” and be God. To be a messiah means you’re ordained by God to lead the people AKA messenger SENT by God.
2nd of all, the name Jesus means “Yahweh is salvation”. Yahweh is God, “Yahweh” means God, not Jesus.
Look up both of the things I just said above.
Jesus is not God. He made that abundantly clear all throughout the Gospels. He continuously separated himself from God.

Question: Why do catholics call Jesus "God" when he is the son of God ? I could never understand why they call him both, God and son of God
It's not just Catholics, but Orthodox and Apostolics. Three churches that are directly linked to the early church. Why did they all come to that conclusion but reformers 1,600 years later know better than the early church fathers to dispute it?

Constantine made christianity mandatory, for all roman citizens.
No? He made it legal and favoured it financially, but that's about where he stopped. Suppression of Paganism unfortunately began far later, around the 360s, but even then Roman paganism survived into the early 600s.
He didn't. He made an edict that stopped Christian persecution. Christianity didn't become the Empire's official religion till Emperor Theodosius.

Also there are others and prophets called son of God in the Bible and yet Christians don't acknowledge them to be son of God. So do not think Jesus is son of God just because is say so in the Bible?. Jesus never said he was God period. He is a slave of God just like us.

I am more interested in what the Bible says, and the Bible says NO ! he is not God.........If Jesus is God then WHO was he praying to ? ......If Jesus is God then why did he say "I am going back to MY GOD and MY FATHER ? So WHO is the God of Jesus, and what is his name, when you find the answer to that question then you will see the TRUTH behind WHO God is !
Jesus backed up that belief when in prayer to his heavenly father said,...”"This is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and him whom you sent, Jesus Christ. John 17: 3. Notice how he calls his father the ONLY TRUE GOD!
The first century Christians taught the same when they preached for example 1 Cor 15: 24-28 where we see in Vs 24 that Jesus has a GOD AND FATHER and that in Vs 28 he SUBJECTS himself to his God & Father!
SOME do say however, that Jesus does address God as his God and his father because he was A MAN however one of the clearest scripture which shows that Jesus is NOT God is Rev 3:12 where we see Jesus as NOT a man but back in heaven:
"The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name. So WHO is the God Of Jesus, and what is his name ?

"Jesus knows that He is going to build on that profession of faith" Sorry, but that statement smacks of Vatican-2 lousy catechesis groveling to Protestantism. Many Protestants who deny the papacy say exactly what is in the quotes, that Jesus built the Church on Peter's profession of faith, rather than on Peter the Rock. I ask Catholics everywhere to pray that the Holy Trinity does a serious "Tune-Up" on Vatican-2.

Look at what you just said. Jesus is the Rock of Ages. Peter was a pebble. We are all stones of the church. The church was built on Peter's profession of faith. Jesus is the cornerstone who was rejected. Paul influenced Peter very heavily. The epistles of Paul are the oldest part of the New Testament. Is Paul not a rock of the church? He is! Peter is also a rock who founded the church but he is not the only one. The disciples went out two by two to convert people all over the Mediterranean and Europe.
