- Norfolk Southern Intermodal Train Passing Railroad Crossing When All Of A Sudden A CSX Train With A Platform Caboose Comes Around The Curve On The Other Track! Norfolk Southern Train With DPU On CSX Track. Norfolk Southern Train Passes Railroad Crossing With Loud DPU Working Hard On The Rear! Listen to this DPU and tell me what you think! 4 trains in Hamilton Ohio.
The first train is approaching the Heaton Street railroad crossing. This is where I get all the runners. This is a Norfolk Southern intermodal train on Track 1. While this train was passing I heard some train horns getting louder. All of a sudden a CSX local mixed freight came around the curve with the locomotive running long hood forward. Pretty cool how the engineer sits in the cab. Then a platform caboose aka transfer caboose comes around the curve. Both trains are running side by side northbound. Check out the railroad radio with audio. The trains can be heard passing a defect detector.
Next, I go one railroad crossing south. This is Dayton Street. Here we see an NS mixed freight with a DPU on CSX Track 1 running northbound. This train has just about any freight car you can think of. That was a good one.
The last train is a Norfolk Southern running southbound on CSX Track 2. This train is at the Hamilton Water Works lane. The railroad crossing is for the city's water plant. We see a huge that is a mixed freight train with a DPU shoving the rear. Listen to the hard working locomotive on the rear! Is that awesome music or what?! That was really cool. This is Train 123 out of Decatur, Illinois on its way to Chattanooga. Sometimes this train will have high and wide Caterpillar loads on the front.
We also have the Live Action Pets that were filmed after I got home. Don't miss the slide show from this video also.
Filmed Saturday, April 27, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

I would love to see more trains wirh cabooses. Things really changed when tge law requiring them was repealed. When I was a kid, we used to walk to the switchyard and crawl around in the steam engines and tenders. If we were lucky enough, we would run into the caboosemen and get to sit with them with their flat top hats while they were on break or lunch and just chat. That was on the old B&O (Baltimore & Ohio) line up in northeastern Ohio. Once we even got to go way up into the control tower and watch the switchmen pull those long switchlevers to redirect the trains. That was my favorite venture. I haven't seen a switchtower since the '40's. I suspect that they were all tore down by the 50's.
Every once in a while, when I see an airport control tower, I get a flashback of a railroad switchtower. Funny how the brain retains certain events for your whole life from earliest childhood to late adulthood.
Thank you for the super chat! I really appreciate your support! That definitely helps pay the gas. I am always looking for cabooses. I also remember them. There are still some switch towers around but I don't know how many are actually still in use. I want to film one. I'm going to try to find one. There is one in Danville, Kentucky, at least I think that's what that building up in the air is. Anyway, thanks for your support and have a great week !
You are my top contributor! Thanks!
Saturday, 27 April 2024, was another good railfanning day in Hamilton, Ohio, Jaw Tooth! You said in your description of this video that the engineer of the local that was running long hood forward was "Pretty cool how the engineer sits in the cab." If I am not mistaken, we were not looking at the engineer but that was the conductor we saw in the window. The person that we see has his left arm on the window ledge, so he is looking at the center-beam flat car behind the engine rather than looking in the direction the train is going. While I was watching this video my 21-month-old Great-grandson came into my room and wanted to sit on my lap to watch the trains. While the last train was passing the road to the Hamilton Water Treatment Plant, I was counting aloud how many tank cars, covered hopper cars etc. that were passing in front of us.
You are correct Thomas, the engineer is always on the right side (short hood forward) because that is the side that the controls are on.
That old caboose was really nifty!
Thanks for watching!
Cool surprise meet with a platform caboose to boot. Gotta love Hamilton Ohio. Thanks JT.
Good morning JT...Happy Sunday...thanks for the videos.Caboose was cool
Happy Sunday!
Hi, hope you are having a good Sunday, great video, good to see the freights running parallel, also the Caboose. Thanks for showing the bird singing.
Perfect day! I hope you are also and thanks for watching my video
@@JawToothgreat video
Amazing JT thanks for another great video have a good day from Scotland 😊
Thanks for watching all the way in Scotland!
@@JawTooth Your very welcome JT and thanks for the great video's 😊👍
Thanks for the pets update JT! I'm happy to see Brandi. She hasn't been out playing in the last few videos. This was another great one today! Many good trains and new perspectives, plus a mockingbird. Be safe this week in all you do, my friend, and I'll chat with you later. 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Good morning Mr Tooth. Cool caboose!
A nice NS mixed freight with a DPU on the rear. Another good train with mostly tank cars. Thanks JT! 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
JT - Thanks for the freight action! The dogs are a nice addon, have two myself and they are just about as lazy. My two cats are more active than they are, and cats are known to be lazy! 😃
Always cool to see a caboose at the end of a freight train. Back in the days before FREDs, defect detectors, & dragging equipment detectors, a freight train wasn't complete without a caboose at the end.
Another day, another awesome Jaw Tooth video. I can’t wait to watch it, as I know each view helps JT pay for the gas. Thanks, from Australia.
Wow a nice Norfolk Southern locomotive 3 lash up
DPU icu, horn horn salute 🫡, caboose and double passing trains! Wow 🎉
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains in Hamilton, Ohio, I got to see them too on the same day, in a same place, I got to see the trains in Hamilton as well, I like them, @JawTooth, Brian, thank you very much.
Yes we're there @Jaw tooth.
NS brought us a super long mixed freight with 181 cars and a mid-train DPU! Lots of tank cars and covered hoppers. Great catch JT! 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks 👍
@@JawTooth My pleasure! 😀
It's Springtime and NASCAR is in full force. The horse racing season is about to get underway and in Cincinnati CSX was bound and determined to catch up to NS which stood for No Skips. It's so rare to see but the CSX caboose does not have a FRED on the coupler and judging by the open door someone must be riding. The huge NS train sure was a drought for boxcars but they are going back with the two frozen food cars for potatoes. Luckily the other train had passed so the other huge NS train can enter the city. Not the biggest count of trains but certainly plenty of freight cars to count
The curved track reminds me of the shoofly - those were good times!
Hey jaw tooth cool trains. Lucky catch with local hauling caboose. I miss seeing cabooses on D&H RR. . I remember seeing them in 1970s 80s in richmondville NY. Have a great Sunday and railroad day.🚂🙋♀️
Hamilton! The land of monsters. Awesome video. Wonder if they will do anything about those derelict buildings. Repurpose the land. Thanks for the video Brian stay well roll on
That would be cool! I wish they would make them into something for the public
@@JawTooth yes! Family themed recreation
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo et très bon dimanche ! 👍🙏
Being a fellow pet lover, I always anticipate the end for the video of your pets.
Thanks for including them.
My pleasure!
GM jawtooth great video
That was a great shot of NS Intermodel train and CSX local, excellent footage!🛤🚂
Thanks for your comments!
Good Morning Brian. I'm going to Butler,Ky to do some mowing and such.Maybe I'll catch a train while there.
Another great video, JT and man you have a blessed weekend and as always stay safe out there and watch your back and we’ll catch you on the next one
Thanks! You too! I am mowing my grass today
Chessie and Loki. I almost waited too long to comment! Nice video JT. I enjoy them all. ❤
Yay! Thank you!
Nice catch on the 2 trains "racing", and YES, the caboose is back! And I love to hear the birds sing, but sometimes the Mocking birds just won't let up. Thanks for another good one, JT.
Thank you very much!
I remember a video like this back when I was in 7th grade with a CSX local with a caboose racing another ns intermodel with 3 engines(ITS ON YOUR CHANNEL)
I just can't wait to wake up and watch a couple of train videos❤
I like the abandoned track right next to the fence at 01:25. I might model something like that on my HO layout.
Have a great Sunday train-hunting to the delight of all enthusiasts! 😃
Thanks, you too!
The electronic man sounds so exuberant when theres NO defects 😄
That makes him so happy lol
@@JawToothI can just imagine what those DD's would say if they could cuss when a defect was/is found.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It's not going to be very surprising when AI starts being added to the DD's, ain't no telling what they might say then....😮🤔🤨🤭
Nice train race. Long hood forward for maximum runner smashing, grade crossing clearing capabillity. Great bonus with the transfer crummy. More excellent Hamilton action, liked it a lot. Thanks JT!
Thanks for watching!
Great show Have a wonderful Day
Thank you! You too!
Had to “rewatch” this awesome video as it appears I fell asleep around the four minute mark. Love your personal serenading bird!
Awesome! Thank you!
cool train meets
Love the old transfer caboose. Thanks JT
Thanks for watching!
Good morning Brian. It's a beautiful day out there for railfanning.
Morning!
Love two trains racing & caboose..
Me too!
Brian, you are a tough guy and a good friend. Thanks for the hard work.
I appreciate that
Awesome Sunday video in Hamilton thanks Brian
Glad you enjoyed it
Ohio Northern Railroad Museum ..jazz it up.
It is early morning here in Oklahoma with rain and storms all over
but I'm up with my coffee watching train action from Ohio with a
CSX train with a caboose, an Intermodal , DPU's, the great train pets
Chessie, Loki, Brandi and Norfie and the slide shows it doesn't get any
better than this thanks Jaw Tooth.🇺🇲🤠🇺🇲🇺🇲🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲
Thanks for watching my videos Roger!
Cool 😎 train race JT! You don't see that very often. I'm glad the caboose is back, too! It would be nice rail lines would bring them back for all trains just for nostalgia sake, but that's a pipe dream. 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Couple of long trains. Do like boxcars too, even patched over Amtrak ones. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thanks for watching
Amazing videos Jaw Tooth keep up the good work
Thanks! Will do!
Nice video as usual Jaw Tooth! Was nice to talk to you again!
Thanks! You too!
I feel like every time that you see a boxcar with the door opened, it’s Hobo Shoestring telling you all hi ❤
Same here. Going to miss that guy. ❤
I haven't seen a Caboose in over 35 years!
Great live action JT, great for stretching out on the couch TV volume up, a nice beverage (not alcoholic these days, medical reasons) and wife away for a while.
Norfolk Southern AC44c6M rebuild program must have been huge, with over 600 ex-Dash 9 DC-traction locomotives converted to AC configuration.
Good Morning everyone.. Enjoy the day!
A super cool train race video this is Jaw thank you for video. I believe shoestring Mark is watching it from the greatest train station in heaven
Nice catches JT! Another fine video!
🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💯👍🇺🇸
Thank you very much!
Sweet catch with that follow-up/caboose train!
It always saddens me a bit to see how people are vandalizing that grey building from the old paper mill complex - breaking windows and such.
Stay safe, my friend and Heidi and I will be waiting for your next video!
God send sends good luck to good people.
Thank you very much! God has been great to me
AMEN! I know He has been to me also!
Great Catch! 👍
Very cool - a race! Throw in a nice caboose and you have a great catch :) The train at Dayton Street was a long one and it had a DPU :)
Thanks for watching!
A two train drag race I like it, nice catch JT. I caught that horn salute that engineer knows a youtube celb. when he see's one👍👍
For a few seconds I thought that black plastic bag was a snake. Nice opening with the double train and caboose. TY.
Thanks for watching! I saw a garter snake the other day
I thought catching that black bag rolling in the wind was hilarious.
As it rolled further and further away it looked to be transforming, first into a black snake, then into a cat, and finally into some alien looking animal from outer-space.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
One of the coolest highlights to this awesome train video.
Great catch Jawtooth! I saw a CSX in Bowling Green a couple weeks ago with a caboose, it was a short train, not sure but that looks like the same caboose!👍
Cool!
I have the same Mockingbird in my back yard..lol.Thanks JT.
Rock on! I love them
Cool the NS train that had 8024 leading came through Elwood yesterday on the street run this was NS 123 out of Decatur Illinois on it’s way to Chattanooga Tennessee. Great video Brian.
Thanks for the info! I will add that to the description . Have a great week coming up!
Heaton Street - Home of the Runners
Yup, lol
Ive never seen 2 trains running side by side. V cool. And cool to see caboose
Thanks for watching! I like your cat. Looks like the kitty is next to the bed post.
boy those are some really smooth tracks. thanks for the caboose.
Glad you like them!
Them dogs were looking for belly rubs.
Awesome video with a train meet and a dpu working hard and a horn salute but wait there’s more 👍😎🇺🇸🚂👍
Thanks 👍
Awesome 😎
Great job Brian.. Mark would have been all over that open boxcar.. favorite place to ride.👍🏻👍🏻
Agreed!!
Great video, especially with 2 trains. The caboose train must be MT’s as we called them on NYC. One EMD with no DPU suggests MT’s.
Awesome, 2 trains, same direction, very cool!
Thank you very much!
Thanks Brian another great video 😊 love seeing the pets at the end
Glad you enjoyed it
JawTooth
Another great video
Great video JT love them cabooses
Super cool video JT you don't see a caboose that often anymore so awesome 😍.
You got that right!
Good Evening Jaw Tooth.
Happy Sunday. Good seeing you. God bless
You too!!
Great video as always - Caboose !!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good morning Mr. Tooth. Thanks for the train flicks.
Any time!
Wow! Amazing catches Brian!
Thank you very much!
@@JawTooth Hi Brian 🤝🙂 You're welcome!
good morning jt happy Sunday thank you for all the great videos
Good morning!
It's another 10:13 GREAT show. Keep it up. Thanks
Thanks, will do!
Way Kool Thank You Jaw Tooth bonus caboose!
Glad you like them!
Great caboose catch JT
If you have not, you should go out to the Jefferson Proving grounds in Indiana. Madison train has a huge yard full of some normal train cars and a lot of older types. Including old passenger cars and such. You cannot get on them but you can get close enough to look at them without trespassing. Oh and Millikan woods in Hamilton is another good place to see trains going by.
I have filmed Jefferson Proving Grounds. That place is pretty awesome
Really neat situation!
The train meet was cool but loved the long freights.
Thanks for watching
Brick 🧱 building looks like the Company Store..no that's not the Company Store.
😅was a nice windy video, but dry no rain.its here tomorow 20c.thats good for mine visit to the dokter.i hit a smal bridge.lol.🤣with mine scooty. greetz:🍐Peer.😅👍👍👍👍
Awesome video, great catch of that caboose.
Cool, thanks!
We don’t see a whole lot of caboose anymore they are pretty cool to see! Thank you from Oxford! You should do some videos of trains in Oxford
Sure thing! I almost went there today because the girls had soccer tournaments there this weekend.
The one with the dpu on the back reminds me of the coal and mine trains out here. They usually have two or three locomotives on the front and one or two on the rear.
Great video my friend.
Take care
I want to get out west this summer and film some trains with the Big Boy steamer and the Canadian locomotives
@JawTooth
When you're in salt lake, give us a holler, would love to meet ya if possible
Very cool.
Nice Video
Jawtooth i used to wave to the guys in the caboose great vidio as usual Thank you
That's awesome! I remember that also
Now that was really COOL!
Thanks!
Good morning Jaw Tooth
