- Benet Academy hosted the 2023 "When Sides Collide" Shootout along with City Suburban Hoops Report's Joe Henricksen.
In the final game of the soldout shootout, Benet Academy faced #1 ranked Chicago Kenwood Academy (the top ranked team in the Chicago Public League). Led by Kansas State signee Dai Dai Ames, the Broncos were coming off 2 tough defeats to Hyde Park and nationally ranked Camden (and DJ Wagner).
Benet is led by Dartmouth commit Niko Abusara and Johns Hopkins commit Brayden Fagbemi. Senior Brady Kunka also caught fire for Benet.
Kenwood coach Mike Irvin announced to Michael OBrien of the Chicago Sun Times (following Kenwood's loss to Camden) that he was "guaranteeing victory" against Benet.
Check out the video to see what transpired but Kenwood never led in the game.
Thanks to Joe Henricksen and everyone at Benet. For more Chicago HS basketball highlights follow @scottballislife on IG and @BallislifeCHI on twitter. Thanks!

Number 0 on white should be d1 ngl
Number 0 in white is crazy tuff
Big dude on benet took over the game
Maaaan where the west vs young at been waiting
Benet got so good out of nowhere.
They’re usually one of the best teams in the state
You just don’t know high school basketball I guess. Because there good a lot
benet-private school-recruit players
Their sophomores are even better. They have a freshman 7 footer and a freshman guard at 6’5; some legit sophomores with size. Wouldn’t be surprised if that group was top 20 in the nation next year (or the year after).
@@DavidLee-vp3nr Not true. They never have any Division I players. I will say, their next group is going to have a few D1 guys.
It’s all ways the city coaches that get out coached because know way that red team with all the athleticism and skill lose to these guys 🤦🏽🤦🏽🤦🏽🤦🏽
Kenwoods Coach is Terrible and classless . You should see the other videos when they’ve won games and he celebrates ignorantly on opposing teams more than the kids who actually played. Glad benet won
6:52 it’s sad those kids really tried to say he traveled 😭
I think all those high profiled games got to kenwood
Kenwood done the heart is gone they broken
Keep disrespecting Ahmad Henderson
Those kids went crazy for no reason the teams were even
Still a big win. Over a team that was ranked above them. It’s a unspoken rivalry against inner city and suburban schools as well in Chicago.
@@dreski4899 lol it’s a normal win nothing special about it
@@chikushodiz91 Kenwood was ranked #1 in the state at the time . How’s that a normal win?
@@dreski4899 because talent wise they are even and keyword was meaning past
@@chikushodiz91 hater
Neither - Moline is best
