  • Today we take a look at a very special British watch brand. Who hand make and assemble their watches right here in England. They feature some incredibly weird and wonderful designs with automatic movements and sapphire crystals. But what do you think of this British watch brand? let me know down in the comments.

    You've reminded me to take another look at this brand. I'm not swallowing the "Made In Britain" stuff apart from those superb dials of course. Assembled and regulated, yes If they become as successful as they deserve to be prices could climb a lot. I must get one picked out and bought before then

    • @TopTierTicker
      @TopTierTicker  Před rokem +3

      I get that, the cases and movements are made elsewhere, but the important, fun stuff is done in London. I have a lot of respect to these guys. Especially the price point too!

      @TopTierTicker Made an order for the Tiger dial today. Reminds me of Blake's poem ‘Tyger Tyger, burning bright". They can let their prices rip now. 😉

      Yeah, the "made in Britain" thing is dubious, at best. They're doing the same thing Shinola did in the US, claiming it was "made in the USA" because it was assembled here from Chinese parts. I don't know what sort of regulatory committee in Great Britain would be overseeing that claim, but here in the States, Shinola got slapped around a few times by the Federal Trade Commission for their claims of origin.

    Did we ever go away? 😜... Really good detailed video - I used to own an MJW and it's the first watch I bought my fiancée (still in her collection) cool brand and the design element is their real unique selling point as you convey so well in this video 😎🍻
    Honorable mentions to Farer and Marloe and Christopher Ward I reckon, I'm sure I've forgotten a few more 🇬🇧 😅

      Niceee, my misses is after nicking this one off me 😆 I do like the other British brand too, but I feel like MJW is the only one that's actually doing the creative / assembly in house. I'm sure a lot of them are just based in the UK and import completed watches from Asia. Seeing the MJ workshop in action is amazing. Proper craftsmanship 💪

    Aah Mr Jones watches, what a great insight you have done here, honest and forthright. I'm a big fan, I love how they select movements based on what is best for the job in hand rather than supporting a specific manufacturer or country of origin. That being said, I can't think of another stainless steel, handmade, artist designed watch, with a Swiss automatic movement for less than £550. I love how whimsical they are, very much an antidote to the stuffy, snobbery of the watch industry. Why not have something on your wrist that will tell the time and make you smile at the same time. Let's face it if you want to just know the time your smartphone phone will do that for you and be mech more accurate than most watches. I agree about the lugs but I can also see as they are art peices they kind of work like a frame around the price, I also like how they don't rip you off for accessories like straps as most watch makers do. The British are Killing it with watches right now with companies like Mr Jones, Christopher Ward, Schofield, Marloe, and Isotope all making great watches.

    • @TopTierTicker
      @TopTierTicker  Před rokem

      Yep! We're finally bringing British watchmaking back 💪 thanks to some great brands, like the ones you mentioned.
      I agree on the movement selection comment too, they clearly don't mark their watches up astronomically, just a tidy profit margin with each watch

    I have "Mare Adesso" and "The promise of happiness". I really like the creativity of these watches and often times end up getting lost in the designs when checking the time. They're a little bit tricky to tell the time, but after wearing for a while I'm only ever out by maybe a minute or two at most.
    Unfortunately none of their releases this year have truly grabbed my attention although there is a couple in their current collection that I wouldnt mind acquiring.
    I've never really owned a watch before I bought my MJWs and they have peaked my interest into the world of watches. I'm not really sure where to go from here as £250 is about as much as I want to spend on a watch so I may just stick with MJW for now.

      Would you please tell me I would be spending my hard earned money on the Christopher ward 12 in 40mm glacier blue colour for my 7.25 inch wrist.
      Is that watch really that good as every reviewer says ? Is that a watch that can last decades if taken care of ? For reference I found the overall quality of prx to be a 7/10. Is TWELVE atleast a 9 ?
      Thank you in advance.
