- SO here is GT POWER's copy of the Tamiya MFC-01... it is a copy of a well known brand and it is significantly cheaper... but is it any good??

An interesting review. Like you my experience is the MFC-01 & 02, no real problems, but also take a little bit of getting everything dialled in, but overall a great product. The longevity and reliability of the GT Power system will also be interesting. As usual well done, and thanks for your time and input.

Ms. Teri.... You are BLUDDY Brilliant!!! At least perserverant. You have unlocked functions that other VERY experienced People (INCLUDING myself), couldn't make half of it work.
So, for my upcoming 1850l Build, which is a Hercules version, this should be good enough for it.....
this was a challenge but after a lot of off-camera cursing and head-scratching, it comes together... I'll still trying to work out how it all works properly and I'll have another go with it with the Flysky FS-i6X when I get around to that radio.🙂

Hi. Just found this review, bloody interesting.
I bought the GT system in 2020 during lockdown and installed it into a Globeliner, spent weeks with a mate trying to get the Bluetooth to connect, only ever got a cannot connect notice.
So i stuck the Globeliner on the shelf and left it there, well i thought it was about time i bit the bullet and got it working.
Got a new android phone as i thought that might make a difference, no joy.
Any help would be appreciated as i am 82 and can see the Globie sitting on the shelf for ever.

I will at some point get the other GT Power Euro system on the bench and I'll spend more time on it and figure out all the in's and out's of both the systems. I've recently moved house and still unpacking and I need to build a new workbench.

Thank you for you video! I just got the 60a "updated" version with Bluetooth and could not for the life of me figure out how to get it to work. Tried use the app they said to use and it didn't go to the right one. Downloaded the one from their website (sketch move) and now the auto shot off is disabled so it doesn't ever shut off. Out of the box mine died after 5 seconds. Now to get some rest and hopefully install everything tomorrow.
I have already 4 sets of them. You can add an emergency break sound too, if you desire, also by the app. but that sounds a little toyish. "Breathe" means that the lights fade on and off rather slow, instead of jumpin' on and off. After each setting you like, always synchronize. The esc's are pretty good. I already put them under great stress (high outside tempratures, heavy pulls,...and they didn't give up! You just have to be carefull, when you give the unit an update, (connecting via USB onto the pc) i don't recommend it. You will have problems with the turnsignals. It took me a lot of head scratcin' and e-mails to GT Power to get it strait. Actually, its pretty simple, but man.....what a pain....But afterall, for the price you pay...there pretty well. If you are prepared to spend a bit of time to play a while with it to figure out what they have under the hood. Nice video!👌👍👍
absolutely agree with you.., they do take a bit of time to get to know and set up and I'd only spent about ½hr playing about with this... it's ok for what it is...

Well, the MFC-01 is $450 around here, so any alternative is welcome.
I remember paying $350 in total for the Tamiya 1850L including MFC-03 less than 10 years ago.
Teri great video as always, did you manage to get all functions of the GT system working just using the tx or do you have to keep the app connected to it to get the functions working?

Can u show how this unit would be installed in a Tamiya Grand Hauler or other rig? I didn't notice any hardware for install... Thanks for all your videos
I don't have a Grand Hauler to install it into, but the kit does come with a few zip ties and sticky pads to manage the cables,
You would have to glue the LEDs into the back of the light buckets on the Grand Hauler
can someone make a video of them setting it up on a spectrum DX6R with Bluetooth
Hi Great video. Do you know how to set up trailer lights using this system so the trailer lights are bluetooth as well? Many thanks.
I'm not sure there is a bluetooth connection for trailer lights, the only bluetooth connect with this system is the control aspect. GT Power have developed an IR connected system for trailer lights but I'm told it'll only be compatible with the Euro version but I will be testing it on both of the high end GT Power multi function systems.

teri , iam try to get my gt power pro kit to work. in testing i got the turning qnd shifet servo to work but cannot get the throttle to work i tried calibrating but the blue light stays on in the unit. any ideas or any settings i am missing
Are you using the on board esc or are you using a separate one in the back of your set up
I'm using the GT Power unit esc, the one in the background is not being used. I'm only using the RX, servos and motor on the board
Hello friend .Great video. A question. In my truck crawler the chanel 2, throttle, is 2 pin plug, positive and negative, for the motor wires.The GT POWER speaker is 3 pin can itake only the 2 cables? It will work ?
Throttle channel will have 3 pins for the built in ESC (+Pos, -Neg, Signal). The Unit will have 2 output wires for the motor (+Pos, -Neg)... The speaker will be plugged into the Speaker Output.

What voltage does it give out as I have 2 light buckets with leds all ready in I'm hoping I can add them to this
I would say they are 3v from the light channels as the LEDs don't have resistors. so I would assume the unit has built in LED drivers to regulate the voltage.
This system seems different from the Euro version from the other video of having switch on/off panal. Do you know which one is newer version? or just the one compatible with brushless motor one is not?
The Euro version is the newer sound/light control unit.

U say the MFC IS BETTER because it comes with “everything”. Then u show a coupler. U get a coupler with ur truck u r putting this in, then if u have 3 trailers like me, u get a coupler with each Tamiya motorized leg kits, so now I have 4 couplers! And buying another coupler doesn’t cost the $300 more for the Tamiya MFC over the GT Power set. I can’t afford the $500 plus for the Tamiya MFC.
does this need a speed control, or does it already have the speed control in it

I am not able to understand ur summation that the MFC IS BETTER? It’s not even a competition! I got this GT POWER unit for $141 with shipping. MFC is over $500 in every source I have found! OVER 3 TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE, and MFC can’t be controlled with Bluetooth, your phone! TAMIYA MFC should be bankrupt immediately! Who would buy one? MFC COST MORE THEN THE WHOLE KING HAULER KIT!!! I’ll NEVER BUY ONE!!! AND IT IS LESS CAPABLE!
cheap isn't good and good isn't cheap... lots of issues with the GT Power, and it's a blatant and bad clone of the Tamiya unit that's had a few updates added to sway people to buy it... I've used BOTH and Tamiya is MUCH better quality and MORE reliable.... it sounds like you've not used the Tamiya MFC and only comparing the two purely based on price and not having hands-on experience with BOTH... good luck with your personal choice 👍
@@TeriWilde thank you so so much for posting your video and replying to my comment. I do not have the money to spend over $500 for an MFC, so I will never be able to experience one. I’m hoping I can make my GT unit work as good as you got it to work. It looks like you got more out of it in the day or so that you worked on it than you ever did with the MFC, because from what I gather, the MFC is not controlled by Bluetooth, which means not controlled from your phone. Being a real tech geek, I am really excited about being able to control it from my phone. My GT unit should come in in a couple of weeks and then I will know more about it, but I will certainly get a lot of knowledge from your video. Guys like you, and Bob from Hobby Concepts that have got me into this Hobby and helped me so much with quite a bit of performance for a fairly small amount of money. I have built the ACTROS, and I have purchased the king hauler kit, but I have not had a chance to build it yet. I am disabled, so I only get a disability check which is not very much, and I really have to budget to buy the trucks. I’ve been getting by with using LESU LED control unit, a couple of digital switches, and a $20 diesel sound generator. I’m really happy with all the functions I have, except I don’t have a horn.
I can't setup that shit! Horrible system!!!!! I can't switch light on and off . I trying many configuration and nothing! Transmitter i6x any advise? I see all yours movies and still shit not working properly! Waste off money mine opinion! Whatever D/R setup or not nothing helps. Make me crazy small f... box😡😡😡😡😡😡 maybe crap faulty or something..... I don't know Wtf.
setting this system up is a nightmare and the instructions are not clear at all. I could only get the lights to switch if I used the trims, I', still trying to figure it out but slowly losing the will.
Hi it seems you have a faulty one they work from the first time or they don't work at all mine was faulty, get a replacement

Probably you got right. I change for my old gt power without Bluetooth ( previous model) sound not so good but all lights work well... and easy control from transmitter.
