This is a pretty solid design. Nothing major to complain about. Adrenal Vapor seems a little too complicated. Quarantine idea is cool though I'm not sure if this is the best way to execute it. Keep it up ^^

After playing caustic in apex legends, I would love for there to be a smoke/toxic cloud hero to be in Overwatch
Over watch development and launch came way before apex, and the idea of the toxic scientists in games is pretty common as villains

@@gonk4509 Ok, so the hero has a staking buff/anti buff for his primary fire where it is applied at a rate of 3times per 1.5 or once per .5 seconds and it is animated as a sludge or goo. his primary fire deals a 15 damage heal per hit to teammates and 10 damage 5 anti heal to opponents. I don't know the ammo but his reload is going to have a total of 2.5 but will be fluid so you can stop part way and just have less ammo.
He would also have a secondary fire which is like a poison and is applied in the same way as Ana's primary fire or Ashe's dynamite and has a slowing effect on those inside. I don't have a solid idea for the size of the puddles but I think a 1 meter diameter (radius of 0.5 meters) would be good. this support has area denial as well as heal denial which may be a little broken but I'm trying to get better
stats for it.
His secondary active ability is an aoe heal called "bio vapor" where it aims and fires like a grande and after 0.3 seconds the canister opens and lets out a healing cloud. It will have a duration of 3 to 4 seconds and a cool down of 11 seconds. As for the physics of the cloud, it will always try to expand (as it does so there is less heals per square meter), is interrupted by solid objects, and is interrupted by shields (friendly and for for counter play potential). This means that you could deploy the bio-vape, while
inside a Winston bubble or small room to contain the cloud. (something like sigmas shield would inhibit it's spreading but because the cloud spreads in all directions it isn't a complete counter).
The only passive that the hero would have is "IMMUNITY" which gives a 25% damage and 50% duration resist to all conditions such as Ana's sleep dart, widomaker's venom mien and other such dot ability (it also applies to some stuns like sleep and
freeze).
Finally the ultimate is Quarantine (these hero ideas were similar after all) where rather than a bubble, a large cube (7 meters by 7meters by 7meteres) would occupy whatever area it was placed in (placing mechanic is like Mei's wall) and stops at solid objects (that way it can't prevent people from spawning in or block 100% of the objective for 5 seconds. If you deploy it over enemies, they will be trapped inside . it can't deploy over team mates as it behaves like a wall rather than a shield).

Cool! I like the idea of the cloud and I think it being trapped by a shield would be a cool visual.
Funny enough as well Vox would be a counter to the very static comps of Orisa Baptiste and Bastion but at the same time also help them

@@jpac_5858 I think that would have too much overlap with Adrenal Vapor. I originally had AV as a passive, but it made the hero feel less engaging and limited the potential for how the ability could be used
@@strawberrana I think you're referring to my Feenix hero concept? He didn't have any sort of speed or jump height boost, but did have the passive where taking damage caused him to automatically deal damage in a small AOE around himself

i think hazard gas would be more interesting if the damage ramps up the longer you stay in the gas. that way the enemy team can back off or commit to going through the gas fast but then having their escape blocked by it
That could be an interesting mechanic to add to it. It'd certainly complicate the ability, as there'd need to be an algorithm for calculating how much damage you're receiving at any given point, but I could easily see it being an option. It's one of those things where I think it'd have to be prototype tested to determine whether it's better with or without the damage ramping.
Vox was ready for 2020 and we never knew.....

I kind of came up with ideas for him, myself:
Call Sign: Hazmat
Real Name: Hazane Mattias (feel free to change this if you like)
Hitpoints: 250 health (no armor nor shields)
Class: Defense (Area Denial Specialist)
Age: Undetermined
Affiliation: Overwatch (formerly), To the highest bidder (currently)
Vocal characterstics: Raspy, occasionally coughing, with a mixed personality of hostility and nihilism.
Weapons/Abilities:
Chemical Thrower: (Max Ammo-200) Primary Weapon-launches out stream of caustic chemicals about 20 feet, with temporary poisoning effect. Any of the chemical that hits the ground stays for about 6 seconds, causing poisoning effect if enemy team characters step through it.
Secondary Fire-launches globule of caustic chemicals at the cost of 50 ammo, with temporary poisoning effect. Same effect of the chemical hitting the ground poisoning passing enemy team characters applies here.
Gas Grenade: (8-second cooldown) disperses a lethal cloud of toxic gas in an 8 foot radius for 10 seconds, with poisoning effect.
Gas Leap: (10-second cooldown) launches Hazmat into the air vertically while leaving behind a foul gaseous cloud in a 5-foot radius for 10 seconds.
Sweet Release: (Passive) Upon being killed, Hazmatâs suit ruptures, leaving behind a gaseous cloud in a 5-foot radius that lasts 6 seconds, and a 5-foot radius of acid-soaked ground for 10 seconds.
Acid Rain: (Ultimate) Launches device that showers a 15-foot radius in highly acidic rain, causing lasting damage and death for those caught in the areaâŠincluding Hazmat.
Backstory: Hazane Mattias was a brilliant chemist working within the ranks of Overwatchâs elite scientists. The fruits of his labors not only aided in many front-line battles against the Omnics during the Omnic Crisis, but other threats as well. Donning a specilized hazardous materials suit of his own design, he would stride into battle using his chemicals, gases, and acids against machine and man alike.
Prior to the end of the Omnic Crisis, however, disaster struck. His suit was ruptured in such a way that he became a victim of his own toxic chemicals. Angela Ziegler (aka Mercy) used all of her resources to save Hazaneâs life. But instead of completely healing him, Angelaâs prototype microbiology did not account for the toxins that now flowed through Hazaneâs veins as normally as his own blood. His body was now left in a state of constant internal poisoning and cellular rejuvenation. Furthermore, his psyche was damaged beyond repair, his personality best described as âhaving episodes of sudden rage and suicidal nihilismâ.
Following the fall of Overwatch, Hazane went into the business freelance mercenary work under his call sign âHazmatâ, leaving his victims gasping for air amidst clouds of poisonous gas, or melting away in pools of corrosive acid. All the while, he is hoping for deathâs sweet release, only to have it foiled by Mercyâs nano-machines bringing him back from the brink, driving him further into madness.

I didnt liked his abilities, but his history and voice lines/interactions are amazing!
hey this guy seems like he would be sorta good against double barrier
Interesting concept. But i would make his primary and secondary shots like roadhog. He shoots a gooey lump that explodes into a toxic cloud after a set time. The secondary shot does the same but with a longer timer. The explosion deals damage and creates the poison cloud that lingers for 3 seconds and deals damage over time. The shots also explode if they hit something. Reason for this is, to have a anti dive attack and maybe the longer shots can be used as a flak against phara. If the lump explodes on a shield, the explosion deals damage to the shield and creates that toxic cloud that even got the effect behind the barrier. The Grenade you mentioned could be used to stack the damage, or to create a debuff (increased damage (discord) or slower walking speed). As secondary ability he could've toxic slick. He is spraying his goo on the ground and got increased walking speed on it (sliding over it). The slick deals damage over time and is meant as a retreat ability. I would make him vulnerable so that he is more or less a glasscannon like tracer as tankish form. His passive would be increased healing by 25%. If he gets healed he can act as a tank. Ultimate would be Acid Rain, he basicly shoots a miniphara straight in the air which starts to shoot goo lumps down which creates small toxic clouds on impact.

Their similarities only go so far as their similar themes, gas grenade, and similar names (Nox vs Vox). The themes and gas grenades are pretty generic ideas to begin with, and are in no way original to Apex. The names being similar was something I was a bit concerned about, but Vox felt like the most fitting name for this hero and I didn't want Apex to limit what I felt would be the best way of designing my character, so I went with it anyways.

A crossbow would be cool but reloading them requires it's user to put their foot through the loop on the front and draw back the string with both hands, it would make a very awkward primary weapon, maybe it could be a cooldown ability.

I made a similar character to this but in the damage category. It definitely needs work and has a few differences.

Backstory: He was a weapon designer for the government of Denmark during the Omnic Crisis. Since then, he has struggled to find work that requires his field of expertise. Because of this, Emil has to resort to selling his weapons on the black market
(the one used in this video would work too)
Primary Weapon: Toxic Thorn Launcher
-An automatic rifle that fires a thorn like projectile. It deals 60 damage on impact and then another 5 damage every 0.5 seconds for 1 second for a total of 70 damage per body shot and 130 damage for a head shot.
Magazine Size: 20
Fire Rate: 1 Thorn every 0.5 seconds
Shift Ability: Toxic Crawlers
-Send out 3 insect like robots that seek out and detonate on a target dealing 50 damage each in a 1 meter area and then an additional 2 damage per second for 5 seconds to the player the robot attached to. Multiple robots can attach to a single player.
-Ability cool down time is 12 seconds
(If you want an example of what I mean look up The Colony from Destiny 2)
E Ability: Toxic Grenade
-Throw out a grenade that releases a toxic gas cloud with a 5 meter diameter. Any enemy standing within the cloud will take 15 damage per second. Ability lasts for 10 seconds. Enemies within the cloud also have very low visibility.
-Ability cool down time is 5 seconds but does not start until cloud disappeares
Ultimate Ability: Viral Inject
-Select a player from the enemy team and inject them with a toxic virus. The target will receive 10 damage per second for 20 seconds. If the target dies the Virus will spread to their allies within 3 meters and the process will restart on affected players.

You know, I have a toxic-based oc myself. He's a DPS hero with 150 health and 50 Armor. A junker with an Arm Cannon, with energy shots that can pierce through shields and other players, though it decreases in damage the more people it passes through. He also has a passive that deals small damage overtime to enemies in a radius around him, similar to Lucio's healing, but much less damage. Like 5/s. His first ability throws out a "Gas Bomb", basically the same as your Gas Bomb...it does smaller damage over time, though. Yeah...his second is an area of effect knockback around him, that also increases the damage and radius of his passive. His ult makes him stop completely, and fire a huge laser that lasts about 6 seconds. It has unlimited range and is able to be aimed after you fire it, but cannot pass through walls and makes you basically stand completely still. It also does a lot of damage. But yeah...that's about it! Thoughts would be great.
Vox and Feenix are my favourites so far, probs because they are both essentially revived concepts, vox being pre-ana and feenix being like big-red.
This is my favorite one so far. A tank that not only makes space for its own team, but can deny space from the other team. And the abilities really compliment eachother in a way thay just sounds like it would be a blast to play. Nothing seems too powerful, or too useless. He is a good tank, who would play more or less like a high health dps, similar to roadhog, which would mean more people would enjoy playing him. He is simple enough to be understood by even a beginner player, but has lots of room for interesting playstyles and techniques. Seriously, great job on this hero design. Keep it up! Also would love to see more hero concepts based on old overwatch concept art.

Thanks! I think I've been getting better with my concepts the more I make them. There's a lot you kinda learn over time about kit simplification and synergy. I specifically focused on keeping this concept "grounded" by not giving him anything too absurd in terms of abilities. And yeah, there's tons of interesting character from old Overwatch artwork, so I imagine that I'll come up with some other coll ideas for some of them

But I Think If He WAS In The Game, Goats Would Be Stronger, (replacing dva to vox) Because Vox Works REALLY Well With Zarya As He Can Throw His Gas And Shoot, And When The Graviton Is Done He Could Use His Ult, But Hey He Isn't In The Game But He Would Be OP In Goats If We Was In Game.

I've been creating this character for a month now , but as AoE,Dot healer. Even with the same skills but secondary fire is toxic stream like moria/mei primary fire, Shift ability set his graviti to 30%, have passive ability that atcivate when take damage(low damage/heal AoE)
I got to say this concept is pretty cool.
I made the same concept but w some differences
Main attack is a spray while secondary attacks are piercing shots
Ultimate is acid rain which summons a cloud that moves and rains damaging liquid on them
I assume this would be the Pyro of OW.

I think for it to be actually affective area control the splash aoe on the primary fire will need to be bigger especially with such low damage

ok I cannot tell if the name of this character is semi satirical or not. If it was just coincidence than oh well, still a funny coincidence. Great Hero concept, but the timing does bring up the question of the previously mentioned VOX and Toxic joke (which may or may not be intended).
I really do love the similarities of his ultimate with zarya's but also how diverse and unique it is as well the fact that you can either use it to trap the enemies into or even just protect your team from incoming damage is really cool and it's very much either a mixture of a support ultimate or a offensive ultimate depending on how you use it my one question is if you use it on your teammates are they also trapped within the field or does that only apply to enemies
The physical barrier only applies to the enemy. Allies can shoot and walk through it just like an ordinary team barrier

There should be stuff having to do with skins in the workshop, like being able to set different abilities for different skins, or simply automatically setting the skin for a hero. This would allow for actual hero concepts that look like they were intended to. (BTW this is probably my favorite concept of yours to date. His ult is awesome)

Thanks! And yeah, adding that in the Workshop would be ideal. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure there are a ton of back end technical limitations for things like that, which is why the Workshop is the way it is currently.

I haven't looked at numbers in a minute but does anyone else have an AOE that deals 200 damage? Seems kinda strong. A well positioned Mei wall + orisa orb could result in guaranteed death for all non tanks on a relatively short cool down.
Nice concept but the lack of defence and damage negotiation abilities would just make it usable in a 3-3 kind comp I think

I like it. Vox seems like he would be a fairly viable pick without being outright gamebreaking.
Gotta ask though: Does Sombras EMP destroy his quarantine dome? 1850 is a rather hefty amount of ult charge required (for comparison: The ult charge for Zaryas graviton surge is 1875) and EMP is a lot cheaper, meaning that you would basically never want to run Vox into an enemy Sombra.
Maybe for his ultimate he mixes the gas grenade and his primary fire and a toxic cloud is formed and it rains acid

Quarantine is a bit too strong i feel, 2500 health is too much for a 5 second duration either, or both, need to be nerfed.

The point is that it's not supposed to be detroyed easily. 5 Seconds isn't that long and the ult is rather expensive in terms of charge (almost as much as graviton surge), so you won't see it that often in each match.

I hate to not pick when your work is so amazing, but the adrenal ability, would you not get the most benefit when below 50hp, he does only have 350hp with 50 armour. Also, is all the health temporary, like Torb, or does he get healed, like Hog?
Maybe could be max, and have a massive robo suit like d.va but it just makes his body bigger

I always wanted a Gas based Hero in Overwatch and this design is really nice. Widows little fart-mine was always boring for me (i dont even play her). I would insta-main him even if he would be considered trash in the meta. A combination of his gas grenade and his ult sound like a pretty mean way to easy kill any 200 health target. I know this video is pretty old but would you say he would take damage from his own poison grenade when it gets deflected by Genji or should he be immune to enemy-gas like Caustic is in Apex Legends?
I'd say he takes damage from enemy gas. I like the idea of him being immune (like Pyro is immune to afterburn in TF2), but it'd just feel like too niche of a mechanic given how many heroes are in OW and how infrequently that'd actually come into play

love the concept but I think it would Vox would be better as a dps than a tank as he doesn't do enough damage for a bruiser or off tank and doesn't have enough help and his type of attack seems to be more of a dps attack.

I think Hazard Gas mighht be a bit Op when combined with a Zarya ult. I also think that it shouldnât affect shields
