    I fixed mine for zero cost. 1) I determined which solenoid valve was leaking. - 2) I removed the valve assembly. - 2) I removed the plastic debris filter from the inlet. I rotated the rubber solenoid washer with a pick tool. - 3) I hooked up hot water to the offending to the leaking valve. - 4) I hit it with pulses of hot water from the supply hose while... (4. - activating the solenoid switch (120V). 6) After 5 pulses the offending valve quit leaking.

      Tom, I tried this, and it worked. However, as soon I put in the debris filter and put it all back together, it started leaking again. Not sure what happened. At least replacing the part it’s going to be hard.

    My Fill valve on washer broke due to this past freezing temperatures in Texas. I didn't disconnect the water to the washer and it froze inside. Now Its leaking water. Now I know what I need To Fix. Thanks for this Video.

      @Lois Ward i haven't fixed it yet but I seen they sell the fill valve on Amazon i probably order it from there or go to Homedepot. I changed new hoses and it still leaks.. I think the seal broke around my valve it leaks and water drips behind the washer.

    So if you've turned off the supply and you are still getting a leak, the supply valves must just not be closing also? What are odds that supply valve AND inlet valves both are bad?

    • @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel
      @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel  Před 3 lety

      You’re right,
      I would say that one or both of the valves at the wall or not fully closing and need to be replaced

  • @aletheacrossman3011
    @aletheacrossman3011 Před 3 lety +1

    Our GE top loader fills with the correct water temp when the lid is open. Close the lid, you can hear the water pressure change & it only fills with cold water. Wait a few seconds, open the lid & quickly get your hand under the flow of water, and it's cold for a second then switches back to warm or hot. GREAT for people who wash on all cold. But I'm not one of those people. Any suggestions? I can find a handful of people online with the same issue (under 5), but no solutions.
    It also has a slow dribble, but very intermittent. It comes & goes.

    • @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel
      @ScottTheFixItGuyChannel  Před 3 lety

      I would replace the temperature control switch located on the console.

    • @aletheacrossman3011
      @aletheacrossman3011 Před 3 lety

      @@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Thank you. I would have assumed that if we didn't have any of the correct temperature water. But since it only is a factor when the lid is closed, you think the temperature control switch would explain the issue?
      Every person I found in different forums that had the issue, it was a GE. Don't know if it was the same model as ours, but definitely same manufacturer

    Do loosen and Unloosen mean the same thing?
    Normally the prefix “un” when added to a word will express the opposite idea. But this is not true in the case of loosen and unloosen. The two words mean precisely the same thing.
