The 25th Anniversary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concerts was a two-day concert series celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The concert took place on October 29 and 30, 2009 at Madison Square Garden and the tickets cost between $75 and $2,000.
The idea behind the concert was to have Hall of Fame inductees perform in eight segments (Crosby, Stills and Nash, Simon and Garfunkel, Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin, Jeff Beck, Metallica, and U2) and present their own songs or songs originally performed by other Hall of Fame inductees.
A four-hour compilation of the concert was first broadcast by the US television provider HBO on November 29, 2009. In addition, the concert was released on DVD (HBO compilation on two DVDs plus a bonus DVD). Source: Wikipedia #simonandgarfunkel #rockhall - Hudba
Im listening to this on the 16 of june 2023 , I am 69 years old and it still gives me goosebumps, love to all.
Eu em dia 25 mesmo ano. Seria muito bom velos de novo atualmente. Eles cantam muito e são extraordinários juntos.
I’m 69 years old and have I loved these two since I was 25. I had no idea this reunion concert existed and for one short evening I’m 25 again. God bless you both!
at 77 too
Can anyone tell me the date of it?

@@carolmurkett5753Hi Carol, being a bit more polite than the other idiot who responded and a little more informative , it was on the 29th & 30th October 2009.
I feel so lucky to have grown up in such a time of great music.
Ditto.
And we are lucky is all recorded 🙏
makes me feel sorry for the kids...the music biz is dead, the movie biz is dead, hell this country as founded is dying
I agree. Truly, the greatest music and best of times to be a kid and young adult.
Me too!!!
Art Garfunkel is one of the most underrated male vocalists of all times...his voice is like an angel from heaven. Such a talent, thank you Art for all you have given us!!
I don't think so: not for people who really love music.
Huh? I don’t understand how you can say he’s underrated. He’s universally praised as one of the greatest vocalists ever. He’s in the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame and is one of the most prolific vocalists of all time.
@alexandriaocasio-smollett5078 all I'm saying is you don't see him on these list of singers or performers that they make etc..
@@lindseybailey5119Oh ok. Gotcha. I didn’t mean to jump down your throat✌️
You’re right that he doesn’t typically appear on best male vocalist lists. But if I had to guess, its probably because when those lists are compiled, they are typically comprised of rock and/or R&B vocalists. Whereas he is more of a traditional folk vocalist.
But I agree with you completely - he’s one of the best male vocalist of all time.
I know Paul Simon is the writer and true genius behind these amazing songs, but my god Art Garfunkels voice is truly angelic.
Absolutely! You nailed it. What a stunning performance.
Not true: No where being close to the early years. Old the ageing proses takes it course hang it up.
& you gotta wonder if u take Garfunkel’s voice out of the equation how it might of been
@@albertochoa7331 what?? Hahaha. You’re ridiculous.
Garfunkel was the songs' Producer and did much of the arrangements.
All of us who grew up with there music were extremely fortunate.
How great is it to hear music written by a single songwriter, sang by real human voices, played by real humans with real instruments, no laptops, no autotune, just real human talent and creativity, all of the things that today's music lacks.
you do know there are people out there playing real music; they really wrote and really performed. i suggest you get out and experience the music scene again.
Are you kidding? There isn't one note that Art sings here that the autotune doesn't have to sort!
I mean you can even hear the autotune when they sing LOL
I am 72 years old and as I started watching this video I closed my eyes and listened to these two incredible artists allowing myself to go back to the years of my youth when things were so much easier! Thank you Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel for giving me piece of mind!❤❤❤
Saw these two in 1967 at Univ of Mass. Two singers, two stools and one guitar. That was it. Music was superb and unforgettable.
Buena😅😮😢🎉😂😂
The harmonies these two create are just on a whole other level! Timeless voices and songs!!!
I’m a sucker for great harmony. 👍🏻😀
its not rock n roll
Actually, I love it when it's just the two of them alone on stage with only Paul Simon's acoustic guitar. That's when you really hear the shear brilliance of just the one guitar and the greatness of Artie's high harmony over the top of Paul's flawless melody. It's incredible!
To be able see "Bridge" live like that is so special. What a song.
I have sat here for the last 25 minutes with tears running down my face! It has been a few years since I had played some of their albums and had taken them a little for granted. Sort of like my HEAD, as my friends said, "his head is made of stone, but he took it for GRANITE". That melody has haunted me for years but tonite it slugged HELL out of me. They were great, AGAIN AND will ALWAYS BE SO! i'M OLD now and get caught off guard increasingly. But I will forever have that sound running around my soul. Thank you, gentlemen, you've done it to me again, and if I die tomorrow, it will take the UNDERTAKER 12 days to get the smile off my face. 😍😍😀
bless your comments. I could not have expressed my thoughts any better ... I'm so glad to be seeing this for the first time just now ... They were best friends in H.S. and their charm still remains ... We all need to remember... So happy to share this with friends and family... May this concert help to inspire many of our generation ✨️
Art's voice is gold
20:13 was emotional for me. These two have a history of animosity with each other, so it was touching to see Paul applaud Art with what looks like a lot of love and admiration on his face.
They don't even need a band. Just an acoustic guitar. Incredible.
The greatest live harmony singing I’ve ever heard
They are one
Bloody hell……Wow. Their harmonies are absolutely insane…… Decades later and they are so still in tune with each other.
Oh for sure they don't sound like any time has passed since they first did it.
And all without in-ear monitors..
@@neilfranklin5644 When was this is scary
Paul noted, a few years ago, that Art’s voice and harmonies with his voice, that made the group.
“Bridge Over Troubled Waters” the inspired composition that came to Paul, and Art song as a Prayer.
This concert is autontuned I'm sorry to say. It's sacrilege I know.
So many wonderful memories from our baby boomer days, God bless these two men for their music for all of us to enjoy then and now...
Sensational performance. It is a privilege to see them together again.
You could swear that this was from the 70's.
My absolute favorites. I hope they are yours toooooo
20:08 Que lindo!!! Ter a sorte de poder ver esses artistas é emocionante. Na minha infância ouvia todo final de semana com minha família na mesa, enquanto tomávamos café da tarde. Só alegria.
There's plenty of wonderful music in the world. But music that achieves the level of sacred is a rare thing.
Listened to Sound of Silence over and over and over on the flight from California to Vietnam. Shed tears then and now every time I hear it. Beautiful music for such an ugly time. Both are still with me. Their music makes it less ugly in my mind.
You had a record player on the airplane?🤔
There could never be another duo as great as those two.
I’d give Hall & Oates a close second… Both are classic and iconic ✨💛⭐️⭐️💛✨
Paul Simon sure has put out some fantastic songs through the years.
no doubt. man unreachable.
I was lucky enough to see Art Garfunkel singing live in an outdoor concert with my future wife and my best mate about 15 years ago. The most amazing evening in my life. I knew at the time it was special and if there was one moment I'd love to relive it'd be that. Even now I can't believe I was actually there.
Cool!
Yes he came to the river float at ann morrison park.. it was great...😊😊😊❤❤❤ early 90s😊
Oh my God... how long have we been listening and watching them sing and perform ? They still got the VOICE !🎉🎉🎉😊
Two musical geniuses. Still sound amazing after all these years.
not rock n roll
@@user-jc6qx8yt6u I never said it was Rock and Roll
True talent never dies. These men sound as good today, as they did from day one.
All these years later and they are still perfection
This was the music of my youth, and that was a few years ago.Amazingly enough I remember every lyric of every song. i think i might not be alone..
I find it beautiful, that a crisis was smoothed over many times in my life by wonderful music ❤ . 🦉 🍸 💃🏾 🕺🏽

YOU'RE NOT ALONE !!! EVERY WORD !!
SON ÚNICOS, los amo desde que era una cría.
This was FANTASTIC to watch, and listen to .... Two of the BEST artists ever put on this planet .... "THANK YOU" Mr. Simon, and Mr Garfunkel, for a lifetime of joy, that you've given to MILLIONS of fans !!!!!!!!!!!!!
"Bridge Over Troubled Waters" still gives me chills! 👏
Hi Pam
Where are you from?
My mother’s favorite song.
Me too ✋️ my favorite 😍 ❤️
My mome said that song was written in the 30s ..good songs never die .. they live on forever ..and ever ..!!!!
@@bonnieprice9482 Paul Simon wrote the song in 1969. Don’t know where your mother is getting her mistaken information from.
To me, The Sound of Silence and The Boxer are two of the most beautiful songs ever written. True American Songbook Classics. And after seeing this truly amazing live performance, where the now old men despite their differences and arguments of the past, always come together in the most beautiful of harmonies, I choose these over the album tracks any day.
Me too..😊😊😊
Ladies & Gentlemen………..this is how music used to be ❤
I, for one, never thought I'd see S&G sing together in my lifetime after their musical breakup, and I'm younger than both of them. What a treat this is! Smooth as slick, with one accord, they didn't miss a beat.
I’ll be 80 this month. CZcams is keeping me sane 😜 🤣 .S&G, and a 100 others , keep me
going. Their poetry keeps me sane. I’m also blessed my best friend is my wife , Mary ❤️!
@Curt Rice Happy Birthday! I'm right behind you! If I don't give out 1st. 😂👍
I never dreamed I would see them in concert together after they broke up. One of best memories, getting to take my Mom before she passed. She used to rock me as a baby to their songs. ❤
I love their music and their songs. I was a teenager in the 70s and was introduced to their music then, and fell in love with their songs and music. I still listen to them today.
The voice of Art Garfunkel seems to have been washed by the sands of time that scratches my heart when hitting the high notes. Their harmony is the kind that goes beyond perfection by dynamically complementing each other. A touching example that showcases the magic of live performance.
That's what makes this perfomance special. He has never sounded better.
After all these years, all I can say is “wow”.
Opposites Attract and in Music Sometime Opposites Complement all the way to the Hall of Fame !
The older I get the more easily my tears flow hearing the sacred songs of my youth...........
same
Aye.
😂
Such beauty .
The lyrics are just as meaningful today as when it was originally recorded.
Timeless Greats that never grow old by two icons who sang like the day they were wrote decades ago, speaks to the quality and lyrics that are as fresh as days ago
After so many years they seem truly happy finally. Makes me happy for them. Songs I grew up on.
😢😅
Like all of us as we get older, let sleeping dogs lie!!
Oh, how I want those days to come back, the best days of my life.
Love Paul Simon as a writer and and a soloist but there’s no denying the magic when these two guys get together. I’m 69 and so lucky to have had such great music in my life.
Beat ya am 70 and gosh love those guys all those years way back. What an honour to see the 2 guys back together on this video.Fantastic best talent ever.
@@helencadwallader3796 I saw Paul Simon in London … just saying :)
@@davidstevenson6817 Were you at that concert? If so ahhh just so fantastic they made their peace. Their music with their harmonies just love it. Always play my old
CD'S of them.
@@helencadwallader3796 sadly not that concert - I saw Paul Simon on his own just as his “Impossible Child“ album came out. Made me realise what a good musician he is as well as singer and songwriter.
Never got the opportunity to see them together or Art Garfunkel on his own, don’t think he toured much over here.
Paul needs his guitar at all times, true musician.
the way their voices meld together is extraordinary. Like the Everlys, or CSN. Amazing.
Or, Righteous Brothers
Or, Milk Carton Kids
I grew up with their music and they haven't lost the magic with their melodic voices 😊
shite
These dudes are still awesome ❤ Even after their split they still fall back to their old vocal harmonies. ❤
I loved each note, all of the lyrics. The music of my youth. I can play these two over and over again. Thanks for the memories, music that never dies!
6:47 warms my heart. By now, they've been through everything together. Joining forces, getting on each other's nerves, making up and breaking up. But they cannot deny that when the chords fill the air, they know the connection they've been blessed with. And how lucky we are that they came together. Long live S&G!
I also used to perceive this moment as a shared smile of true friendship, but looking back on it I think they may have been smiling about how badly sharp Paul’s low E string was :’)
I mean, the two lowest strings are both way sharp. And if you go back a couple seconds from your time stamp, Paul lets the E ring twice while looking funny and probably wondering if it’s going to be a problem. Art also seems to listen closely in a bit of disapproval, and we can see that Paul comments something to him here, which causes them to smile. They had already gone through the intro, so I guess they just quickly had to accept it with a smile signalling “whatever, let’s go, no one will care”
It sad that these childhood friends have grown so at odds with one another in their later years, but we all change over time and grow our own ways. I hope they still cherish the times when they had their close friendship.
1 guitar......... 2 voices......... oh whata a sound they made............ as the world wondered, when will their glory fade !!!!!!!
One day I was in a bus station, feeling very lonely. I was in the Army and was either leaving for Vietnam soon or had just come back. I don't remember much only that from somewhere in that bus terminal the Simon and Garfunkel song "Homeward Bound" started playing. It made me realize how much I missed my family and what I wanted to do with the rest of my life once I got back home. So, it's my favorite Simon and Garfunkel tune, with "America" a close second. Both are about away from the place where you belong.
Unbelievable after all these years they still sound great and still great music for our time now
I am about to burst your bubble. This was heavily edited and auto tuned. Sorry mate
The best duo ever.

Wow some of the most beautiful and powerful songs ever written by Paul Simon. Their harmonies are legend. Listing since the first album way back in the 60's.
Songs of an iconic era. So much depth. Hopefully the younger crowd realizes the road paved by these talented musicians.
Like A Bridge Over Troubled Water - still as powerful as it was in the mid 60's ! Thank you, Artie & Paul.

Are you kidding me??? Can’t believe he still sounds thus good.
He doesn't. This was 14 years ago. They are both 80+ now and Paul Simon is now deaf in one ear.
Ever since their embryonic beginnings, I’ve been listening to them in my own pixel of life.
Me and three of my mates went to dublin in 2004 to see Simon and garfunkel. The support band was the everly brother's and what a show 👏 🙌 👌 ❤️ 😍 ♥️ 👏

How this transports me back to being 13 again. So many memories tumbling in my head. I’m so grateful to have these songs as the soundtrack of my youth.
We were so lucky to see them perform one one more time after years apart
I could watch and listen to this all day. And I have.
I'm not their generation but I never tire watching these two artists and listening to their music. Classic.
I am blessed to have seen Art Garfunkel "Live" twice. He sang "Bridge" both times; it was magnificent.
What a treat! I never thought I would see these two together again.
Art, your voice on that song is just magnificent!!! No one can ever compare!
I was in 6th grade when our very traditional elementary school music teacher, Mr Viggiano, recognized the unusual amount of talent in our class and chose to use Bridge Over Troubled Water for our chorus. That choice and that song moved me to a life in music. While I've seldom played professionally, music has remained the driving force in my 64 and a half years.
This performance here on CZcams has brought all this back to me vividly. Thank you Simon and Garfunkel for your gifts to the world.

The music and words that Paul Simon wrote, can be literally seen rising from his body during Troubled Water, this is the Divine acting through him. The source of art.
Dear God, isn't it absolutely amazing! Love, love, love!
The best!
These 2 are among the best. There never will be another writer like Paul, or voice like Art. Together they are magic! This era of music is/was to be treasured!!
A chance meeting resulted in an enduring act whose music and voices resonate with everyone even today. Paul Simon's compositions are pure genius.
Simon and garfunkel were and are one of a kind great harmonies and sounded great for decades also love this concert so many great old acts glad they had on..
Take two incredibly talented young guys, give them worldwide fame, fortune, and then grueling tour schedules. No wonder they got on each other’s nerves. But their synergy performing together is really the soundtrack of the late 60’s and early 70’s. Sublime harmonies. Art Garfunkel’s voice is still as lovely and poignant as ever.
Wow! I still know all the words and can sing all the notes... 50 years later. This says so much more about the originators than it does about me. THANK YOU S&G! xx
6:48 - I can't help but think that as they sang the line "Hello darkness my old friend", Paul turns his head towards Art, as if he's speaking to Art directly !!!
Absolutely amazing, I know every word to every song. We grew up with those incredible songs. Truly spectacular- they sound fantastic- I adore them
Happy birthday to Paul Simon. 10 13 Your music is in the soundtrack of my life. I learned a lot in the sound of silence, the ideas came
