In India Labour laws and reforms have been a controversial topic which no one wants to discuss and the majority of the population of India are not aware of their labour laws especially the daily wage laborers and even sometimes the employees working in huge establishments.
The Minimum Wages Act, EPF Act, Code on Wages Act (inclusive of 4 Acts), Maternity benefit Act, Industrial Disputes Act, Employees State Insurance Act and Payment of Gratuity Act are some of the major acts of labour law that every employee must know.

ALL EMPLOYERS MUST BE MANDATED TO MAKE A MENTION OF LEGITIMATE GOVERNMENT LABOUR LAWS WEBSITE DETAILS etc IN ALL EMPLOYMENT/CONTRACT LETTER DETAIL. IF EMPLOYERS DO NOT DO IT THEY MUST BE PENALIZED.
Such rules are already there. Check your company's notice board. The important laws will be there.

Questions:
Delay in appraisal: Promised every year in April, but disclosed in September-November. Till then the employee is under dark. Any law the company is breaking? HR is having no answer or justification.
Verbally said - no gratuity will be given, after 5 years.
Abused, harassed and was forced to resign. Senior official calls home at night and abuses on mother in front of family. Complaints were filed to directors and HR - HR took no action. Says, forget it, it happens.
Still not replying after writing several mails.
What should the employee do after the above experience?
File a case in the labour court

M'am , please clarify one doubt . I couldn't able to complete my notice period as I had to join the institute for higher study. I completed 1 month of notice period out of 3 months and paid back the shortfall notice amount to the company . Should I get my service certificate ?

For EPF, If I tell my employer that I want to contribute more than 1800, then is the employer obligated to contribute the same amount as I or is the higher limit of employer contribution 1800 only?

If employeer is forcing to do overtime always which crosses 8 hrs a day and 48 hrs a week and employee is unable to do it due to health issues, what can be done?
