Well, I was able to hold onto my wallet for about a week. But broke down and ordered one. I love my two Jinhao 9019s, so I think I''ll like the 9016. Also...I've recently bought a Pen and Gear hardbound journal, and I was impressed at the quality of the paper, and how well it holds up to several Fountain pens and inks! Caveat: I tend to use faster-drying inks, and I tend to use F and EF nibs.

Great to see Jinhao expanding the use of their revolutionary high capacity converter, hope to see more models. (And also some caps to screw onto and seal extra converters.) I was going to buy this Jinhao 9016, but I discovered that as of today at least, it costs about $13 US at both Amazon and Etsy. Worse, the only nib available is a “cardio” or “heartbeat” version, and even that is only available in F, the M being sold out. So I’ll wait and see.
This “cardio” nib is made so that the ink slit in the nib is not straight but zigzags like the readout line of an electrocardiogram. Looks like just a novelty to me, with more opportunity to dry out or clog. Is there something I’m missing?
Re the Jinhao 9019 converter rattling, I have five of these pens and have never had this happen. The inner struts in the end of the barrel cradle the knob of the converter securely. I wonder what is going on in the rattling pens. Maybe the injection molding went wrong in those, with the struts not being complete? Or could some of the owners be hearing the agitator inside the converter? Puzzling.

    • @JG3Reviews
      @JG3Reviews  Před 6 měsíci +2

Yeah, I don’t know about the rattling first-hand, either. I checked mine again yesterday and nothing. Could be a batch issue, I guess.

Great review, James. I may be off the mark but the clear turning mechanism on the converter is a great compliment to the pen. In essence the converter is also a demonstrator. I found the flanges inside the barrel on the 9019 held the converter in place, no rattling as with other Jinhao pens, particularly the 100
Given the ink capacity of the converter, I probably would not seal the bottom of the barrel for eyedropper fill the pen. Heck, it has more capacity than some piston fill pens I have.
I like the 9019 a lot. It is chunky but comfortable in my hand. The 9016 is a nice alternative. At this price point, why not get one?
I do like the #8 nib on the 9019 a lot. That being said, the #6 nib has the capability of being swapped with other nibs. I have only recently got a bent nib and I find it to be wonderful to use. I would certainly consider getting one for this pen.
I like that Jinhao has made the converter available for another model. It just may be a great alternative to piston fillers with its large capacity.
Oh, you should try the Mint Green paper. It is also at Walmart and I use it for my journals.

The length unposted/uncapped is just about the same. The main difference is in: 1) the 9016 is thicker than the x750 by 1.5-1.7mm in both the barrel and the grip section to accommodate the larger feed section for the converter ; 2) the x750's grips section is about 4.5mm longer than the 9016's.

Wendy's correct, it was the paper that was made in India.

I sealed up the airhole on my 9019 to eyedropper it... 8mL and it wasn't completely full. I haven't used it all up yet either.

7.5, cheaper than a chicken sandwich. it is a crime not to buy this pen at this price with such quality.

Where can one find the extra larger converters ?
Thank you for mentioning the converter is a screw version.
Note : More sellers need to disclose the converter type and style, including if it is a push or screw version.
You too could concider mentioning where one can find the converter in your written description.
Thanks for the video and your time.

I haven’t yet seen them available separately, but maybe someone else can chime in with info. Surely if they aren’t available now they will be soon.

I thought it was a way to hide you wallet in a pen :-) Ooops

😆 The 9019 could probably hide paper bills inside, at least.

That's a shame. I've had a couple that needed a bit of tuning, but then became good pens.
