I totally agree. . The first version of any songs always the best. That's what I grew up with. Listen to Randy Travis on this song. You can't beat. A male singer on this song special Randy. Carrie Underwood did a great job. I'm not that big of a fan of hers. But when she does classic songs She sounds awesome. She's got some pipes. . The old saying Kenny Rogers head and Lionel Richie. It takes a good song. To bring out a great vocalists. Anybody can sing. To a point but a vocalist Is Randy Travis a good song? That's why he has hits after hits. . Mariani Travis, make it back to the stage and sing all his hits. One last time my prayers go out to you Randy.
When I was stationed in Rota Spain in the 1980s,. Randy Travis stoped by and gave us a USO show. He was absolutely awesome. The show was held in the VQ-2 hanger. When my wife and a buddy of mine tried to get with a cooler of beer, we were stopped and security wouldn't let us in with beer. Randy Travis came up and told the Officer in charge that beer and country music go together and if we couldn't bring in our beer he wouldn't do the show. Show went on and beer came in! By the way, the flyer put out said nothing about no beer allowed.
I'm so glad he is happy that it was rerecorded but people really have to hear Randy sing it, WOW! I was singing this around the house when I was a little kid. LOL
Amen. If he wasn't a star, nobody would have known about it. He's a great singer and a very good actor with natural talent. I hope he gets it all back together again. He still sounds magnificent.
I loved this song the first time I heard it, all those years ago. It reminded me of my old high school girl friend. Now my second wife. I still to this day tell her this song reminds me of her. And yes for me it has a happy ending.
Take me back to 2009! (Better yet, 1986) I miss this man and that voice. How little we know about what the future will bring each of us, but what I do know, is I will never stop loving Randy Travis and the wonderful songs he sang. So glad he is still with us to remind us of the talent that is still inside him.
Yeah!! I agree... I am a Producer/editor/news anchor in the US Army and I have to say that what I see is steady video that doesn't look like its on a tripod. so your control is fantastic. I am a long time Randy fan and have you tell ya i enjoyed this most cuz i didn't get dizzy watching it... Again great job bringing this moment to us!!!
Randy puts out a country C.D. about every four or five years now. He still tours every summer, but mainly has been doing gospel stuff since 2000. He has also been nominated and I belive has won several Dove awards...the equivilent to the Grammy in mainstream. And I agree..he still sounds better than these new guys that come out every year and disappear.
Randy Travis just recently turned 50, so still has some good years left in him. He really hasn't done much recording that I have heard, since the 80's, but has been in some movies, including Black Dog, with Patrick Swayze.
Why do people always bitch about the quality of videos on CZcams? Not everyone who attends a concert or show is in a position to have professional recording equipment, a clear line of sight, and close enough proximity to pick up audio clearly. 98% of every video I've ever recorded has been on my crappy cell phone while standing shoulder-to-shoulder with drunk jackasses holding up THEIR cell phones trying to get the same thing. They aren't all gonna be winners folks. Deal with it.
You won't see this, but artists don't always play their instrument the whole concert. You can rely on the piano and backup musicians for a couple of songs here and there.
This will ALWAYS be Randy's song no matter what a great job someone else does.
By far the very best version of this song ~ Randy may be getting older, but we all are, and his voice is still genuine and pure ... Beautiful!
