people often say. If you have knowledge...teach your knowledge to those who don't know it yet and your knowledge will increase and your knowledge will become more perfect. but the students we educate and the smarter they become, the less polite and disrespectful we are

100% agree on in-person lessons. I got in-person lessons when I first started playing drums in high school and those lessons are still so foundational now. And now that I live in an apt, I only have a practice pad until I have enough to get my e-kit but those lessons I paid for back then, I would consider my best investment in my drumming hobby. You will never regret investing in the foundation and being able to have a solid grasp on the basics, everything flows from that.

For sure! Online lessons have come really far, but I only think they'll work best if you pair them with some sort of in-person education. Whether that's at the same time or before at some point.

In person teacher is the best option imo, as about 24 years ago I took in person lessons once a week, and they really helped me with timing and telling me when I was doing things wrong immediately. I picked up bass guitar about 5 months ago, and trying to learn by myself really makes it harder, as I tend to play my drums a lot more than my bass, because I don't have any access to a teacher in town to motivate me to practice and be better the next week I'd see them.

For the more expensive quality vs. cheaper, less quality. I've found a lot of new players, or even non drummers, struggle to hear a definitive difference in sound. Even myself as a young drummer didn't notice. Over the years, I found I could tell the difference more and more, and I 100% agree. Cymbals are way more important than the drums themselves.
