  • Our CatLABS x Film 320 Pro review combines the community's comments, recommendations, sample images and feedback to give you an excellent overview of this film's strengths and weaknesses! 🐈‍⬛
In this film review, Emma tells us all about this new emulsion from CatLabs. Launched in October 2022, CatLabs X Film 320 pro is a is a classic, medium-speed film, designed for a wide array of shooting conditions and is also available in medium format.
Created by our friends over at CatLABS of JP, who said "This is our own formulation [of B&W film]. Though it is based on some historic data, the ultimate end result is quite far from it due to modern manufacturing and material requirements."
Key features of CatLABS X Film 320:
    • It is an ideal “street film”, offering versatility and unique characteristics
    • Following in the footsteps of some classic historic films, CatLABS X FILM 320 is characterised by its distinct grain quality, contrast and tonal range, not found with other currently available films
    • It will produce unique deep grey tones with a silvery/metallic look
    • Suitable for low light or available light conditions
    • Exhibits a wide exposure latitude under various lighting conditions
    • For best results rate it at 200 ISO when shooting outdoors under bright sunlight. Push it as high as 1600 when shooting under artificial/low light conditions
    • Non DX coded

My initial experience could be better:). I shoot it at 320 in various conditions, and frankly, it could be better. When you shoot the film at 200 do you pull the film during processing or just develop for 320? Thanks for the review!

I'm confused about shooting it at ISO 3 - 5.

I shoot a a lot of this film in my Holga and it is wonderful in many ways. The image quality is beautiful, it is easiest to use 120 film that I scan, and the numbers clearly show through the red window on the back of the camera. What more could I want?

Just developed 2 rolls of CatLabs 320 pro in Ilfosol 3 @ 1:9 for around 8 minutes and got great results! This is a really contrasty & punchy emulsion. Just make sure to rate this film at ISO 200 and meter for the shadows. If you don't meter for the shadows, your shadow detail tends to fall off rather quickly....which may or may not be your thing. A great emulsion for an awesome price! Greetings from the USA!

Seriously, stop “pussyfooting” around and take some photos. BTW I’ve shot a few rolls of CatLab 320 at box speed & really like it!

Thanks for the informative video :)
Sorry -- in your description you say it's 120 film ... But **also** available in medium format. Isn't that redundant?
Did you mean "135" or "35mm" for one of those statements? :)
