The pacing on this was was different and top notch. Kudos Jason!
Also felt that, but as a negative. Not nice to non English natives.
@@toptools4you I would suggest 0.75 speed for those who can't keep up (sincerely, a non-native speaker)
*Me in highschool in Turkey with no real income whatsoever* : _Shoots a roll of film and gets them developed and printed every week with a Zenit Slr and all kinds of different lenses_
*Me making shit load of money as a software engineer now* : _I'll never be able to afford film photography of any kind ever_
More people need to see this😂😂
😂😂😂 I hear you!
Make it happen, Mon Capitan!
As a current highschooler I agree
Totally agree :-). For me it was the same. Now wondering how I was able to afford shooting not just Foma, but also quite a lot of Tri-X, Neopan or Delta :-).
A solid, funny, well edited, and succinct video on medium format. Produced by Baxter
Naturally
I've finally witnessed Jason upload for the first time since I started to watch his videos
Coulda used this when I picked up 120 after a week of 35mm lol
Same. I am a beanie bitch idiot.
This was the greatest most informative and still funny videos of how to shoot 120 ive ever seen! 10/10. You really basically went through everything to know but still managed to keep it short enough!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I will be forever grateful for my ADHD that lead me to this. As someone who has watched almost every video on here, I can say, this is the most perfect CZcams video of all time. Perfection.
I'm awaiting my Pentax 6x7 to arrive and have been rewatching all your videos to build the anticipation.
Wow, an entire video delivered on a single breath. I need a nap.
One of the best videos i ever watched. Entertaining straight to the point❤
Great video, brother! Also, you have definitely found the sweet spot of your dry humor and informative monologue. Love being a sub of yours.
It was so good I even watched the Squarespace part without skipping. Thank you! 👏👏👏
If you live in Middle America, the South, or the Midwest, a great lab that I'd recommend is Dwayne's Photo in Parsons, Kansas. They offer a lot of different film services and are reasonably priced. I've sent my film to The Darkroom before and it was a great service, but Dwane's is just closer to where I live which reduces the time my film is spent in the mail. I also find them to be a lesser priced option than many of the other processors.
Isnt it the lab in the movie Kodachrome? Aka the last lab to process Kodachrome?
@@thewhiteapparation Indeed it was
Idk man I live in Missouri and it took them 3 weeks to send me my scans for 2 rolls
@@midwestgrain I live around the Springfield area and I can never tell what the post office is going to do with any package from one day to the next.
@@midwestgrain They've been pretty good to me. They've sent me all my scans within two weeks of my film arriving at their PO box.
The post office has also recently been good to me. Everything I've sent to or received from Dwayne's has only ever taken two or three days to get delivered. I live in Louisiana. Though I've also sent stuff to California, and it's taken the same amount of time. I know they can be really inconsistent, but I've been really lucky with their service the past few years.
Love your videos man, this one was refreshing. Keep up the great work!
My day was dull, all had gone haywire, plans dismantled, the pill that I was missing was the lesson, an ingest desperately needed by my system unbeknown to me, and now that I've had it, my nerves are taking the chill, the frantic fire of neurons is simmering down, toes touching the ground like an angel descending into mortal lands. A new goal at hand, Medium Format!
Love the energy and edit on this one 🤟
Glad you have this page, great video and big ups for making these!
This is when the day went from good to great!
Im been shooting medium formats with my Hasselblad Pentax 6x7 and Mamiya 645 for while, your video came on my CZcams stream and decide to watch it and I really enjoy it this will help a lot new beginners in to medium format photography.
Your best video yet, Jason. Too much good stuff to comment on.
Tasty video. Love your usual content this was just a nice occasional change of pace. Top work 👌
Awesome video as always. Medium format… love it 😍
I love how grainys videos fill the whole screen
Glad you recommended the Bronica S2A, I’ve been wanting to get one for my first medium format camera. 🤙🏻
🥵 wow the pace of that video. More of that please 😄 Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! 👏🏻👏🏻
You've leveled up. Awesome work
So damn good. Not only hella informative but actually makes me chuckle
This video is so high energy I got whiplash.
Love this new style. Quick quick quick. Two quips a minute at least!
pov: you‘ve just finished a roll of heaters and the grand finale is licking a piece of paper.
Gotta love the 120 lifestyle.
Dude , the humor in these videos …lmfao so good .
This was extremely helpful, especially the part where you explain how to finish the roll. Thank you.
Shout out to those sick popping sounds for the frame sizes. I like to think you poured over options to find the most satisfying.
This is so timely. Hours away from my rz67 showing up at my door and I couldn't be more excited
You're a legend man!
First time watching this guy's video before start my shooting film journey and I like this guy already lol !
WOW! Dude you are a hidden gem! So glad I found you lol
I’m so glad you’ve started using 4:3 (or something similar?) for your videos! It looks so good on my iPad. And I only watch CZcams on my iPad now days. Oh and the video was good too.
It’s a good day when grainydays uploads
There's some solid work here.
Best medium format video ever.
"unless you love chaos and don't care about money" generated a hearty chuckle from me.
I can see I'll be watching this video over and over all weekend
Feeding the children with this one. AND I ATE. 💯
Loved this video
Hey Jason! This is amazing stuff man. You've entirely got me obsessed with film photography and it goes so well with what I do as an ambient artist. I currently only have a pentax kx for 35, and tomorrow I picked up a zeiss nikon 518/2 (Hense the medium format watch ahaha) do they have camera backs for old ass cameras like that?
hah I loved the humor on this one. lol'd at the shoutout to Nico's channel. cheers
Thanks Jason, great stuff. You didn't include the Bronica GS-1 in the 6x7 group. It is priced similarly to the RB67 but has electronics (for better or worse) including a fairly accurate metered prism viewfinder, and is lighter, more like the weight of the RZ67 but much cheaper. I guess some people aren't convinced the Bronica glass is as good, although I have not done comparisons, but you mentioned the S2A in the 6x6 section so seems worth noting the GS-1 also. BTW, Flic Film in Alberta, Canada has a new developer formula called Black and White and Green, which is non-toxic for putting down the household drain. I guess it"s similar to Xtol (ie phenidone plus ascorbic acid) but is dissolved in triethanolamine not water, so it's viscous to pour but is supposed to have a shelf life longer than the proverbial shelf. I've tried it on lots of the standard B&W films and it seems about the same as HC-110. Cheers from Montreal!
Obviously he cannot mention all good stuff in a brief video. Also GS-1 is much much lighter then a RZ67 so probably the best starter 6x7 camera imo, especially for a SLR. It has more function being a new camera compares to early Pentax 6x7 with similar price.
@@GlaciaDay Actually I don't think the GS-1 is much lighter than the RZ67, which itself is much lighter than the RB. The RB is great I suppose if you want to go completely non-electronic.
@@oudviola Weighted them before. My RZ67 Pro II with 110mm was around 2550g and GS-1 was like 1900, all without battery.
@@GlaciaDay Indeed, it's been a while so I just checked again, my GS-1 with WLF, film back and 100mm standard lens is 1934g. But with the AE metered prism viewfinder and speed grip, which is how I tend to use it when walking around, is 2673g. That's with battery, which only a few grams though.
@@oudviola yea, prism finder for 67 cameras weights like a brick. I'd rather take a light meter with me than bringing my AE finder.
Medium Format in a Nutshell. Loved This.
I know the Rings of Power is out on Amazon Prime but this is the video I was waiting for 🥳
You forget to mention for those that are indecisive about what frame size they want, interchangeable back cameras can often shoot multiple sizes. For instance, my rb67 can shoot 6x45, 6x7, and the cursed 6x8 size. Supposedly mamiya made a )x6 back for a short time right after the launch of the camera, but no one bought them, so they stopped making it. Oh, and it uses the Graflock 2x3 standard for backs, so if you want to shoot 6x9 and 2x3 film, you can. Though, I’m not sure why you would.
I watched your video backward and it is even more interesting... However me and my pair of reebok pump are now getting out snapping some bad shots just because of you. Well done.
Jason doing the lords work and trying to bring back aerochrome.
I was just checking if you had any uploads last night!
Hilarious and as usual, great!
Top tip........ put elastic bands on your wrist if your shooting 120...... have watched the white tab that sticks down the film after shooting going flying off in the wind many times....the band s saves the day.
A Mamiya Universal Press with a multi format back and then shoot 645, 6x6 or 6x9 whenever you feel like it.
Lenses: Just the 50mm f/6.3 (31mm, 27mm, and 22mm) and the 100mm f/2.8 (62mm, 55mm, and 43mm) and you're set. Just don't try to switch formats mid-roll.
Nailed it.
Hey, I recommend you do a review of the Canon Demi EE17. The Demi series is a great half frame camera and the EE17 is the most feature packed out of all of the Demis.
I'm thoroughly convinced you sped up your voice ala TBS sped up Seinfeld episodes to get in more commercials. That or you've definitely hit the ceiling on the amount of Mt Dew your body can process.
This was the most entertaining shit I've watched all week😂 In all seriousness though, this was fire bro🔥
I like the faster pace. I clicked in expecting chill and got woken up by speed information.
Excited about the Adox Color Mission cameo
love your video Dude...
This video format rules, more like this please ;)
oh this works perfectly! im about to go on my own route 66 trip, but i have retrograde analog amnesia, thanks grainman
This vid will slowly but surely rack up views
Been using Samys for years, but have been wanting to try out the small shops in the valley
Kudos for the editing on this one my man
The “a Star Wars story” part was gold
I have learn more in 8min and 53 seconds than in 24 years of school, highschool and university.
Can't unsee it
You're a funny dude keep up the good work
incredible.
lol @2:57 , never thought square pics could look so good, gonna try this
I laughed a lot great one
That 2 and a 1/4 scrolls radiant today.
Nevermind that this whole video is in 6x7. What a chad.
Hope the third lesson will finally tell us how to shoot some good pics.
The Nico joke just landed perfect😅
this is the best
Kodak is killing this man
Will you next video be how to process, then how to scan, then how to. Print?
That would be a cool series
-Shoots basically only medium format
-still watches since it’s a new grainydays vid
very entertaining!
aaactually, the sides of 120 film that contains text are about 2mm wide, so the imaging area are:
42x56mm 645
56x56mm 66
67x56mm 67 (according to Pentax 6x7)
76x56mm 68 (accroding to Fuji GX680, german ones seems to be a bit longer)
and 84x56mm 69
I started drinking a bottle of hard liquer every day to support you in your fight with Kodak.
After signing my life away to the medium format gods this video was very helpful and based ty
F, man, you’re fast!
Kudos..
If you're in LA, The Icon on Wilshire does great work. Only processing and printing though, no film for sale unlike Samy's.
jason i love you
Best video
I literally just bought a Manila 645 this video is a godsend
WOW...did I just watch one of your youtube videos or was this a 2am infomercial on a rotisserie chicken maker ???!!!! But wait there's more .......
I went to watch Caleb first cuz he talked about Bessa R. Man this tops his in entertainment value. I need to watch out how I lick the seal of my 120 rolls. Thanks for the pointer.
When will these videos be in 6x6 format? 4:3 is awesome, but I want to feel the medium format in my mind.
Watch the lighthouse
@@johnkaplun9619 unfortunately that was not filmed with 65mm but instead 35mm
Well its 1:1 so that's close enough for m
@@xander1052 Jason should just buy an Imax camera and vlog everything in 65mm.
Nice hat... Watching in St. Louis
Proud to be a 6x6 slow jammer!
How come you shot this in 4:3? Love the look of it!
my bronica arrives tomorrow :)
I love you jason
