I almost got hit by a drop bear, but fortunately I had a special device that was invented to protect people from them. It’s a big pole that has a sloped circle of fabric that covers the area above you. The fabric can be condensed into a smaller, more compact shape that wraps around the pole for convenience’s sake, but then re-deployed at the press of a button. If a drop bear tries attacking, the fabric will make it bounce away from you and onto the ground. I believe the Aussies call it a ‘Struthvegemitedingowazzer.’

It's so cool watching how you place the different colors and end up with such cute little designs on the finished candies! How the heck do you do that???

It's honestly terrifying how similar they are to koalas and their fur is always covering their eyes so you can't even tell😭😭

I know I always get scared when ever I see a koala until I make sure it’s eyes aren’t red

I was camped on the Darling River near Menindee New South Wales with some mates. The Ranger warned us of a sighting in the area so we posted a night watch with 2hr watches. My turn came up just prior to dawn, the final 2 hrs. I relieved Davo, who told me he was hearing something in the River Gum branches over our tents. I was on high alert as I'd had a close call with one as a younger man. I, too, could hear him moving through the branches. It seemed to be circling around our camp site, looking for an opportunity. I think our long handled shovel that we carried had it on edge. The movement increased, just prior to first light. I stoked the campfire and got everyone up. Just as first light broke, Nev spotted it with his powerful torch, but it kept its face away from us due to the blinding light of his military torch. As it started to descend the tree, we knew we had it licked. There was no way he could drop with this powerful torch, blinding his view of the things below. We surrounded the tree in an effort to see its eyes. I was poised with the shovel and covered in goose bumps, with legs like jelly, ready to swing with everything I had, knowing I might not get a second chance. ... Suddenly, Cooky yelled out. "I can see its eyes". He screamed to Nev, "kill the torch, its only a Koala" ...
How thankful and relieved we were after we had all confirmed that this was not the dreaded Drop Bear.

Koala’s and drop bears look so similar, it’s hard to tell them apart. even with their red eyes, you can’t see the red eyes too well

As an Australian I can confirm, summers coming and the dropbears are coming out of hibernation, my great grandfather actually did a biological study on these bears, apparently they are the connected between koalas and real bears, other stuff my grandad said is that, though humans are on their diet, they mostly eat smaller marsupials, like kangaroos, at least the smaller ones.

They’re a fictional creature. They’re kinda like Australian chupacabras.
