Mars is generally said to signify things like action, impulsiveness, forcefulness, assertiveness, fighting, anger, war, severing, separation, inflammation, intercourse, fires, discord, robbery, and courage.

Moon-Mars positives weren't discussed so I'll add some here: Moon-Mars evokes the mama-bear or den mother archetype. Fierce (Mars) protection of the things you love (Moon). Passionate (Mars) emotions and feelings (Moon). Ability to sever and release (Mars) things from the past (Moon). Unafraid to assert and address (Mars) your own needs (Moon). Moon-Mars is the adrenaline fuelled mother having the strength to lift a car off of her trapped child. The raw, primal and bloody act of birth also comes to mind and the energetic and emotional power of that moment. I only have the sextile between them but it's the tightest aspect in my chart and I absolutely love it!
Thank you so much for your comment! They spent so much time talking about nonsensical classics that i almost gave up listening in the first place. I have this and i can tell you is AWFULL ....i almost died 3 times and i do not plan on having kids...so momma anything is a huge NOPE! ...I am pretty tired of searching for the good side of this aspect...and Even believing that you can channel for good, as an example i exercise every single day to channel this awfull planet and hasn't worked.
I don't think there is any way.....maybe i can channel to a project or sth..I work out every single day and i thought that would channel mars to not fuck with my life....but NOPE i had a really bad solar return with a bad mars and almost died 2 times (part of that 3)..
I also have jupiter related to all this mars nonsense and some say it could protect me from the bad side of mars...as a benefic Well it is Rx and close to the north node so even as i approach the jupiter return...i don't know if it can actually work
..Let me tell you ...you are lucky for having the sextile! and i wish i could take out mars from my chart....yikes....awfull planet! I am sorry to say but Astrologers should be kinder to the people that suffer with these awfull stuff on their charts and give ways out....and not read a ton of useless classics.....!
If someone knows a way to cancel mars or something it would be nice to hear....and if that jupiter starts to work out on my favor only after the jupiter return or nodal return and if mars dies out it would be good to know.....

I have my Moon and Mars both at 29° Cancer in the 8th house, so I feel like I'm qualified to speak on this: It's rough for sure lol. When I get angry, if I'm backed into a corner, pushed to the edge? I become a wild force of nature. The likes of which no one has ever truly seen before. Thankfully, because the Cancer energy softens me out a bit, plus, I put more of that energy into "thickening my shell' as opposed to becoming the aggressor. But when that overflows, imagine this like huge, spikey crab coming at you with it's claws lol.
I've spoken of the expected aggression/rage that can come with it, but I do like Charpy's comment about essentially the emotional strength. I've said before that "If you don't understand how sensitive I am, you can't understand how strong I've had to be." People basically think that as I go through more, as my shell gets thicker that it means I'm also somehow "thicker" on the inside, and I am not. I am still just as soft and squishy on the inside as I was when I was 8. Only now with a shell that can rival diamond. I'm ferociously protective of the ones I love if I feel they are threatened. And part of the sensitivity thing I described earlier is that, I feel like people can't understand how deeply I truly love them, because I literally can't express it lol. In that, it's too much to express. Doesn't mean I don't try, but yeah.

@@CeejaythaMusician113 It did! People do not value enough sensitive souls! And do not understand the strenght that must be placed on the everwhere surroundings. I think is a Moon (sensitivity) Mars (defense) thing naturaly but people should be way more perceptive around it. Also i don't know i think this video could have had better info.For example, i bet you have uncanny accurate intuition too! Specialy in the 8th house! They could have talked better about placements and aspects too. Anyways, thank your for your insghts...emotional strenght is a good side....I just wish it did not have to be.

My rising is in Aries so for me, this does fall in exact house/sign placement, but for most people, you’re correct in that the houses will not align w their house ruler.

LAST THING i've got mars square mercury and have both adhd as well as a rare skin condition that causes my hands to turn bright red and get very warm when overtsimulated/in extreme temperatures!!! i love astrology!!!!

@@cruelyear Mars does more damage if it's starved. Saturn usually does more damage though but I'd say it may help Venus if there's one planet it aspects. Putting longevity and practicality into relationships. Saturn gets helped in Mercury and Venus signs or being aspected by Venus and or Mercury. It's starved in the signs of Mars, Moon, and Sun. Saturn represents work ethic, when it's being harmed it can't do the job that it's supposed to do. Getting through this world a o k. Saturn isn't this bad planet, it's getting things finished, work ethic. It's so easy to say that Saturn is a harmful planet but in reality, for the majority of people, it's starved. My Saturn itself is starved so it's harder to get work done and be consistent.
Sylvi - is AWESOME - calm as talking about Mars - LOVE her. I have Mars in Capricorn in the 8th House and I am sure this planet has saved my life many times - just stopping and thinking things out - instead of reacting. Stamina and courage and tenacity - not getting lost in emotion, being logical, practical and making hard decisions with the right data. I am often the one who is saying 'hang on hang on calm down - go back to the beginning and tell me what happened" trying to calm people down and stop them from reacting in a very violent Mars manner. I am also in my local Fire Brigade - and my great skill is 'situational awareness' I get that from Mars - it is like a game of chess - survey the area - what can hurt you - where are the potential dangers - what steps can we take to avoid the dangers. Thank you both this was great. My greatest loves have had Natal Mars placed right on my Natal Venus - magnetic attraction and great you know what...

Out of bounds Mars rising in Cap here (con asc). Can confirm that my hair throws red no matter what colour I dye it so these days I tend to go for a red tint. I still get acne at 35 years of age and especially when I eat dairy. I’ve been told I always “look busy” or that I’m “going somewhere”. I naturally walk fast and have lots of scars - especially burns ones from when I was younger. My partner tells me all the time that I’m clumsy - true- but it’s usually because I’m trying to do multiple things at once.
I love the commentary on Mars being the 'Ride or Die' friend. So true. My friends know I can handle extreme situations. I have bailed them out, been the backup bouncer, the protector. Aries Mars conjunct Jupiter, where there is a will there is a way. I have intervened in suicidal situations with friends and family... crazy intense situations. Aries Mars trine Sag Neptune/Rising, conjunct Jupiter, sextile Gem Sun/Mercury, square Cancer Saturn. Mars is busy in my chart, a def asset even though sect is wrong, I think Jupiter gives it a boost, and 5th house is a good place.

Hey guys - I was just looking at musician Tracy Chapman's natal chart and thought it might be interesting when considering how Mars applies to the life of the native.
Tracy has a lot of action in the Mars-ruled signs, with a stellium in Aries (Mars at 0, Sun at 10, and Jupiter/Mercury conjunct at 26/27) and Moon and Neptune in Scorpio.
The song "Fast Car" speaks of needing to make split-second decisions to escape being permanently trapped by the compulsion to enable the darknesses/addictions in others that are holding us back in life. Such a perfect Sun/Moon placement for the person who gave voice to this brilliant and timeless piece of music.

Mars to me is like a Father that just wants his child to be successful. What ever you want, he is like "Go! Do it! Do that thing you really want!" Its danger is that Mars does not care what is moral and what is not. He just wants you to fulfil your desires. So yes Mars might get you in a fight but he is also the one who wakes you up in the morning. The one that helps fight what ever obstacle is facing you. He is the one who makes you stand up for yourself and leave that job, relationship or whatever is making you miserable. Just make sure you let your Mars have his victories and dare to do something tiny (breaking a plate, running in the woods, talking loudly or being loud in general) so he want have force you take drastic and dangerous actions.

I woke up unusually early and thought I'd listen. I drifted back to sleep and dreamt we were sitting around a picnic table, a waitress brought us tea. You two were chatting away. I felt really grateful that you agreed to meet me here and share your insights. I kept waiting for a break in the convo to say thanks but none came. Other people started joining, sitting around the table. Then Sylvie got up & while still talking, climbed a tree and was swinging from the branches (I'll relisten, I suspect arborist had been mentioned) while talking about liking physical work. (apologies in advance for how many comments i leave on this video) the bit about courage in the face of danger is reminding me of a quote from poet Richard Siken, who's got mars in scorpio, that says: "We have not touched the stars, nor are we forgiven, which brings us back to the hero's shoulders and the gentleness that comes, not from the absence of violence, but despite the abundance of it." feels very fitting for mars in it's water sign lol.
Seeing red isn't just a symbolic saying, it can be a very real physical phenomenon that is very much associated with anger.

Mars Venus conjunction here.. I can say the worst, rudest things in fights and I’m forgiven in a few days. My arguments/debates on forums/real life are seen as attractive. I am also deeply passionate about people whom I love and even my hobbies like cooking, singing, guitar gel both planet qualities really well. I think the genres of music I like too is a mixture of passionate, soft rock, ballady, with metal thrown in. I’m attracted to ppl who are intelligent and passionate even if I don’t agree with their point of view. Sometimes even being on opposite sides in a debate is really attractive to me.
Oh my gosh I have Mars on the same degree of my rising and in Aries. 😂Suffice to say it's the ruler of my chart. I'm also learning about astrology a lot! This is an amazing episode for me to hear!
as a scorpio rising with mars in the 10th, I can say: thanks for this episode and the part where u say Mars does not always means just the military or violent aspecto, but also the preventing of or the "other side of the coin" I find it hard to translate into my life when I hear the typical Martial themes and how they can be associated into the 10th, although I am pretty straightforward and aggresive towards life in general... I could not be less interested in the Army for example. Hope that made sense...
Interesting when you guys mentioned milk as being the antidote to hot peppers and the reference to cancer and dairy products. I have a very weak Mars in cancer in the 12th house but I became an ardent activist for animal rights when I learned about the dairy industry and how horribly animals are treated in the animal agriculture industry and the devastating impact on the whole planet. But fighting that fight is very emotionally draining and upsetting, and the ridicule you get from other people is just incredible. It's a very frustrated and sad Mars.

My Mars is at 26 sag 59. I can confirm, I don't mind saying what's true but disrupts the system. My Jupiter in the 9th, my Sun, and Saturn/uranus at 0 cap all support it. I feel enormous power but that I must use it carefully. I just found astrology and I can't wait to make an impact. Thank you so much for this series and for the podcast and the book and the rest! For some reason will the heating nature of the two malefics made me think of the two major ways to die in space; the cold, restrictive nature being the vast majority of space where you would freeze to the point of physical restrictive death being Saturn. The extreme heat, burning up in an atmosphere or star by where you are bombarded with extreme forces but is less likely being Mars.
I have a good Moon conjunct Mars celebrity natal chart example for the files:
Bruce Dickinson, the lead singer of Iron Maiden, was born with Moon conjunct Mars in Taurus (ruler of the throat/vocal chords). Iron Maiden is a heavy metal band (Mars) who often performs songs about esoteric or mythological history themes (the Moon). Bruce is also famously a pilot and pro fencer! ✈️⚔️
I have a sandwich of mars in 1st Acendent and moon in 12th in leo all conjunct and I am incredibly impatient, I take instant decisions and I have incredible Will to continue even hard and undesirable circumstances. I am always ready to defend myself and my loved ones. It’s like having an instant shot of adrenaline when I get triggered…my mars is also squared by my Uranus in Scorpio. 😳 I personally think I was made to act upon my desires as I have NN and Jupiter conjunct in 2nd house. The discussion of fighters with Mars in detriment, and the road rage during Mars transits, reminds me of times I've had Mars transiting my Cancer Asc... last time I had to undergo this very painful treatment for my hip that involved stabbing long needles deep into my muscles, however, it was very effective for healing.
Just remembering another transit of Mars over my Asc in Cancer... my youngest child has Mars in Cancer, so around their birth I had all this wild stuff going on. Hopefully no one is too squeamish on the topic, but I chose to try to breastfeed as much as I could, even though I'd previously had some surgeries on my chest and breasts that would make milk production difficult. It ended up being quite difficult at the beginning especially, with the nursing process often drawing blood and causing a lot of pain. So, yeah, was just struck by this image memory of blood & milk... what a very Mars in Cancer image.
Scorpio rising here with Mars confirmed as my nativity ruler due to my sun and moon both being placed in cadent houses. Yes I watched that episode ;)
As someone truly ruled by Mars, I can attest to the intense difficulty this planet can cause in life. At the same time, it’s been my greatest gift, as it bestows warrior-like resolve when it comes to physical endurance and dealing with stressful situations. The sense of paranoia and fear, no matter how good I may believe I feel in any moment, is always lurking in the background. Mars is always on the edge, surveying, ready to fight, to protect, to defeat the enemy.
Imagine this, as these are my Mars aspects:
Mars Conjunct Mercury - ADHD city! Hyperactive mind and hands. Too many ideas!
Mars Conjunct Pluto - Beast Mode Archetype - Take the warrior energy of Mars and combine it with Darth Vader. Yes, running away is the right instinct. People literally look at me sometimes in complete disbelief. It’s a mix of intrigue, attraction, repulsion and confusion, all at the same time. I feel that way all the time.
Mars Trine Moon - Yep, that’s a good one and I think is part of my saving grace. Protects me from those potentially destructive Mercury and Pluto conjunctions. My emotions and physical self working together in unison.
Mars Trine Saturn - Can I get a hell yea! Both malefics working together for constructive outcomes.
Mars Sextile Venus - Ahh, helps me breathe.

I am SO glad that I found this channel. I was just transiting my bedroom from the house of Cancer and entering my bathroom which is in Scorpio, and I WAS considering buying some Ginger biscuits, but then I heard your video. Ginger biscuits, being inclined by 90 degrees to Virgo, would, I realised, lead to a bout of serious depression, so I leaned towards Taurus and purchased a packet of Cheese biscuits instead. They tasted, delicious, a very strong Caerphilly cheese with a hint of Mars dust.

My father has mars in Leo in the 9th house (nothign else in that house for him) and it seemed spot on to me ( education/ travel/ all things foreign) he was a career Air Force airman, took advantage of the military opportunity to travel to go back to the country his mother was from, where he then also met my mother, due to his job, and he travelled a lot and we moved often becaues of him being in the military.

Secondly Mars in my 6th I always felt manifests as confrontations in the work place. For me it has been both co workers or my bosses throughout. I have carry over from the 7th because My Sun is in the 7th and Mars' ruler is the Sun. The topic of open enemies in the 7th, I thought was a medieval horary concept. In the Hellenistic period open enemies(confrontations) is a 6th house topic. I tend to think and trust the latter. I'm a night chart so I've been able to diffuse a lot (even hold my anger back). I agree that in the context of the workplace Ive always kept myself a busy body (and can overwork myself). Thanks for reading!

Mars in the 11th. Definitely experienced ostracization in friendship groups and dramatic friendship break ups out of nowhere. This is usually where I stood up for myself or critiqued some kind of institution. Such as one time I critiqued landlordism to a friend, not being aware that a friend was a landlord, then them taking offense and the friendship blew up. My mars is in its fall. So I put two and two together there. One group of people in my social circle I'd considered friends also ostracized me for speaking publicly about their friend who'd mistreated me. That happened around the time Pluto opposed my mars, I think it was a day or two off that being exact. Even though I was waiting for something bad to happen in the context of a group or friends by transit, I was still shocked at what transpired. Also, a friend who pushed boundaries then took offense when I found their apology lacking, because it didn't cite their boundary pushing, but my offense, so they and the friend who helped write the apology regrouped without me, and dropped off the radar.
I have so few friends now because I've been burned by this experience over and over. Friendship break ups are a hidden pain tbh. But they are just as important if not more than romantic relationships. I'd say another thing is fighting for your friends - I've defended friends (or been ready to) when I've seen them come under unfair attack.
Several groups I've left also because of racism, or something that misaligned with my values where everyone else/most nodded along but I either left, or i spoke up then left after an aggressive response to my, i thought, tactful calls for reflection on something I saw as problematic. Or I have come under some kind of unbearable pressure in a group where someone who got a bit fixated on me and I had to leave the group, cause the organisation wouldn't do anything.
To a certain extent everyone probably goes through these conflicts. But I seem to have had friendship break ups / blow ups to a high degree in recent years especially.
Also struggling to find friends who I feel safe with / are aligned with my values. So I have a tendency to push people away with indifference which is probably...not great.
Thank you for sharing at length. My son has a stellium in the 11th house Aries, including Mars, and I have observed him having issues with friends. The negative experiences for him have been with the kids in the neighborhood. He is an only child so it would have been nice to have kids around the house to play with, but they always fight, as if in total war, so we stopped encouraging he play with them. There was always something terribly demeaning brewing against him, half the time he wasn’t noticing or even offended, but I couldn’t bear to see it anymore. And that’s just what I saw. Who knows all what has happened. Oh well, then there was COVID, and nobody went outside anymore. He has his tight group of friends at school, though, but has trouble with girls due to his habit of often being rude as a way to show off, I believe. Then, on another note, he will go opposite direction and be completely butt hurt over a joke a good friend said, thinking they were dissing him, when in everyone else’s POV, they were being playful and funny. He has started to come to me for advice, thank goodness, as I think he is realizing he doesn’t always understand it all, these very strong emotions surrounding his relationships. It’s all very intense for him.

this was very insightful. aries sun (with mars, in 4th house) - scorpio moon and midheaven - capricorn ascendant, nighttime chart. so it seems like my mars is being used pretty well overall. mars is transiting my 9th house right now and i had a minor eye injury yesterday while trying to hammer something with tacks during a storm in the dark, lol. the comments you made during the 4th house discussion relating to wanting to keep arguments and etc private really resonated with me. i definitely find myself speaking in hushed tones and trying to "act natural" when i'm out in public having a heated situation with someone.

Two years ago and this year, I got in a car accident on days when the sun was conjunct mars. This year in Libra, my 1H, 2 years ago in Leo 11H.
The first time my car was totaled, it was over $4k in damages (but insurance covered it, and it was fixable). So I have definitely learned to PAY ATTENTION during these transits and maybe not do any excess driving if I can help it.

This blew my mind for a variety of reasons, but I’ll speak for myself! 🤯 I have Mars in Virgo (night sect) in the 4th. ALL of my current neighbors are loud and it's infuriating. After my 4H profection prepping for this, I am moving out of my parents house for the first time to Denver. I don’t have the best relationship with my family and have always wanted to move long distance. Everyone on my mom’s side of the family has emigrated long distance from their place of origin as well.
Adding this Mars/Venus conjunction example: one of the biggest embroidery/cross stitch designers of the 20th century into the 21st was Marilyn Levitt-Imblum, she had a mars, venus conjunction in virgo. Really enjoyed this one. Although I will say I think the passion and enthusiasm that comes with mars was maybe underplayed for the more malefic aspects? I'm an Aries rising with mars in the 7th, my oldest son is Libra rising with mars in the 7th and I'd say we are both really passionate about encouraging those we're in relationship with, we invest a lot of our energy into our relationships and encouraging those we're close to. My youngest daughter has mars in the 3rd and has a similar thing with her siblings. She is a cancer rising so it comes more with a concern, she's very concerned for her siblings and likes to keep them close. 😊❤️ My husband is a Leo rising, he has mars in the 5th conjunct his Neptune and he always has big dreams and ideas and that's where he puts his energy. 😄 My oldest daughter and my sister both have mars in the 11th and they invest a lot of their energy into friends, both have large friend circles and busy social lives. My youngest son has mars in the 6th and he definitely has a strong focus and energy in put into 'work' but work that he enjoys. So I guess I see natal mars as what we put the most of our energy too.
