- A memorial service was held for Evan Thomas at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon on Monday, April 16, 2018. Thomas was one of the 16 people killed in a crash involving the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team bus.

No connection to SK or any of these players or families, but I can feel the anguish from here in Ontario. No one should lose their child. A piece of you dies along with him. Wishing peace and healing to all affected.
I'm a person who is very seldom at a loss for words but this is one of those rare times.I would truly like to thank the Thomas family for sharing this very emotional and difficult time in their lives just so we could have somewhat of an idea of who Evan really was and trust me when I say based on everything everyone had to say ,it was pretty obvious he was loved by many and you really should be beyond proud (which I'm certain you are and rightfully so) of the fine young man you raised.I also have to say for the short period of time Evan had on this earth he lived such a full and happy life and that gave me a sense of comfort and in a odd way made me feel happy,despite the fact of this senseless tragedy which in my opinion robbed the lives of 16 innocent people,injured 13 more and has changed the lives of many forever.I am so very sorry for your loss, for those who've lost loved ones in this horrific ordeal and to those who were injured.I really hope in some small way you,other families affected by this tragedy and those who were injured can find some comfort in knowing when your grieving and/or having a rough day,the rest of Canada are grieving and hurting with you......R.I.P. Scott Thomas you did a fantastic job the words you spoke and the things you said touched me deeply. No father should have to say good bye to their son like this evan world be so proud of you and your family. April 6 is a day I will never forget April 6 🏝 my daughter Emma birthday are day was good everything was great then the news of the bus crash was every were. My daughter was so upset right away she found a big box and a envelope I was trying to figure out what she was doing then she packed up all her birthday gifts and put all the money in the envelope and asked me to mail the box to Humboldt. My heart just broke at that moment cause It just shows you how much this crash effected everyone. May the Lost rest in peace and to the survivors I hope you find peace and strength.
The story of the Humboldt Broncos transcends national boundaries. Evan you will forever remain in the hearts of all who recognize that nothing is more important than hard work teamwork respect concern for others and humility. You lived life as it should be lived never squandering a single day. We are left to marvel all that you accomplished, what you might yet have accomplished are grateful for your legacy and the never-ending inspiration which remains.
