I am a begginer
This is a great video for beginners. It's so helpful how she explains what she's doing and why you should or should not do certain things, to help understand the process.
I'm just getting into baking cakes and I must say, Wilton is amazing! I've been studying their videos and I bought all of my cake pans, turntable, even bake strips and my offset spatula from Wilton. I'm so excited to test everything out and bake a little 6 inch triple layer cake for my Grandma and Grandpa😊 Wish me luck!
How did it go?
This is one of the most helpful tutorials I’ve found. Thank you!
Thank you for the detailed instructions!
Great demo. Learned a lot taking the Wilton method courses years ago.

💐🙊🎂
hi am in France I can't find Wilton colours here ??
This is cool
What turn table are you using
Curious about your thoughts on the pre-glazing of the cake with simple syrup prior to applying the crumb coat. Is this a worthwhile step? I see it recommended quite often.
@Sichard Rimmins , I'm not any expert but I've worked in professional kitchens for years and I would say yes. It keeps the cake quite moist, especially when its refrigerated and has the chance of losing moisture... But do be careful not to oversoak it as it would make the cake soggy and fall apart easily, preventing a clean slice of cake, etc. Hope I was helpful ...
Hi there, what icing is used in this video?
Is Pillsbury frosting thin or thick?
Where can I get the icing recipe?
Plz share the sponge recipe
I'm kinda nervous about attempting a crumb/final coat. I've only ever done it once and it did not go quite as planned! But in my defence, a) it was my first attempt and b) I was partly icing over a shop bought cake that was super crumbly. So I ended up making my crumb coat thicker and thicker to keep the crumbs in, and that meant it then didn't want to set. And because of how long it took, my buttercream started separating in my bowl :(
But practice makes perfect, so I'm gonna have to give it another go!
Oh - you mentioned that you use thin consistency buttercream for the crumb and final coat. If you're going to be decorating with buttercream, would you keep the leftover buttercream and use that / would you need to add more icing sugar to make it firmer? Or would you make a new batch of medium / stiffer consistency buttercream?

I decorate my cake and put it in the refrigerator why is my buttercream melting when I take it out please tell me tha reason
After the second coat can I put foundant/sugar paste on top?

Where do you get your non slip pads? 🍰

The butter cream icing should be cold or just room temperature?
room
Wat do u use to make the icing
Our Buttercream Recipe is available here: blog.wilton.com/how-to-make-homemade-buttercream-frosting/
This looks easy but never when you try it 😁
Can you add water to thin the icing?
Hi! Are you referring to buttercream icing? If so, you can add water or milk. Here's our video on buttercream consistency that might help: czcams.com/video/yZ8Tsx3dc2M/video.html
We use to dip the spatula in boiling water each use.can we
Do you have recipe for icing
Hi Joann, thanks for your interest. You can find our Buttercream Frosting recipe here: bit.ly/2Fzyfe7
👍🏻
Do we cover our cake while it chills in the fridge?
I don’t and it turns out fine
Newbie here, I though it looks easy to frost a cake. I tried it and peels off and mixes with the frosting and it end up looking "dirty". Maybe my cake is too crumbly? I cant make a proper spread due to the crumbs peeling off and sticking to the frosting.
Hi! Make sure that the cake has completely cooled off before you coat it. You can put it in the fridge before coating.
@@wilton I already cooled off my cake yesterday, the next day when I'm going to frost it its too crumbly. Or maybe I added very little frosting on it and I tried to spread it like that?
😘
Jesus you make it look so easy 😩 the advice was spot on though I went wrong when decorating a cake as I didn't do a crumb coat previous to properly icing it and I didn't chill the cake after adding the layers. Thank you 🙏
Is that buttercream frosting or whipping cream frosting?
butter cream
What if you don't have one of those type of icing spatula
Hi Janice, you can use any spatula with a flat surface, it doesn't have to be angled. A knife will work if needed as well.
,Brown sumar frosting
👏👏👏👏👏👏😁😁😁😁
is that a buttercream icing?
Yes, it's buttercream! Thanks for checking.
She should swipe the icing she took off during the crumb coat to make sure the crumbs don’t get I. The clean icing 😊
Why didn't you but icing between the cakes?
Whipped cream and buttercream is much easier to spread!
mmmhmmm its very creamy 😏
I put the cake on a a lazy Susan if you don’t have one of those she’s using
Great instruction, but the cinematography and editing could be better...
