- Today I am going to show you a one pot creamy beefy mac and cheese. This recipe is inspired by Hamburger Helper, which is a budget-friendly meal I grew up with.

INGREDIENTS
1 lb lean ground beef
2 tsp beef bouillon
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
12 oz large elbow macaroni
3 cups water
8 oz mild cheddar cheese
4 oz Velvetta cheese
1 cup half and half
salt and pepper to taste

Mmm agua frescas are the best. I grew up 40 min away from the border ... going over in the weekends was so much fun! Fruit cups, aguas frescas, cheap food and candy! The best.

I made watermelon juice and this homemade hamburger helper tonight and it was a huge hit. I never had hamburger helper until I was in college! My favorite one is the lasagna one, would love to see you make that one please!

I just finished making the cheeseburger Mac. It was incredibly easy, came together in less than a half hour, and turned out super tasty. I will say that I needed to stir the pasta pretty much constantly as it cooked or else it would've stuck to the pan. I was using a ceramic lined dutch oven and all the starch from the pasta really made it want to stick. With constant stirring though, nothing stuck. All in all, an excellent, quick, yummy recipe. Two thumbs up!

I haven't had hamburger helper or any kind of cheeseburger mac in like 15 years. I remember it fondly though. Since cheese can be pretty pricey, one thing I learned from a coworker when making homemade mac and cheese, is to use soup! If you can find cheddar cheese soup or cream of cheddar soup, that's a cheap alternative that will thicken things up while adding the cheese flavour. I've also used cream of mushroom soup, that also works. So you can use a lot less cheese and save some money! I'd definitely be down to make some hamburger mac sometime soon!

I love your recipes, but I always switch to fresh ingredients. For example, I buy several blocks of cheese. I grate it, portion it, and freeze it. It melts better, tastes better, and doesn't have the fillers and preservatives that come in pre-shredded cheese. Also cheaper to buy block cheese. Either way, I get many good ways from your recipes to make it my own. I love your food ideas!

I love how you used powdered onion and garlic, makes this more kid friendly. I feel so stupid for not realizing I don't need to boil the macaroni separately. After a life time of Hamburger Helper, you'd think I'd catch on. Thank you! I will definitely be making this.
Add 1/4 cup of fresh blended tomatoes or 1/4 can of tomato sauce. That brings it over the top.

When do you add the beef bouillon that's listed in tge ingredients
This will be great using venison.
But is this any cheaper than just using hamburger helper? My local walmart says no :
Maybe not but one box really doesn't make much anyway & hamburger helper is horrible. It doesn't even taste the same as it did when we were kids. No way am I buying that crap.
Most of us already have the ingredients needed to make a version and it will taste better plus less salt then the box.
