    In regards to the weight: adjusted to about 7 inch wrist the 43mm watch is slightly heavier at 149g compared to 144g of the 40mm one, but not by much.

    Anti reflection coating on old version, the new ones could definitely do with it. Good fair review.

  • @salty_terminal_civilian5374

    FYI there are 3 micro adjustments inside the clasp where the extension is. You push the spring pin and adjust the extension up or down. I've found this gives me the perfect fit. Notice there are small circular divots above the extension on the inside of the clasp!

    Good comparison review mate. It's good to Pagani have released a 40mm version. I'm sure the price will come down more to the level of the 43mm soon as well. I'm not really a fan of the 'Explorer' text added to the dial. I thought it was already quite a busy before hand .

    • @ShinyThings
      @ShinyThings  Před 3 lety +2

      @Honest Watch Reviews, looks like 'Explorer' is not very popular 🙂 Let's see if Pagani takes note. I hope you are right about the price. With the same materials used, apart from some more lume there is no other tangible reason for a higher price. I wander when a 41mm homage is coming out though 😊.

    Weight and balance makes the 40mm the better option for me. I have largish 7 3/4" wrists. The larger watch looks fine on me but the head of the watch is so weighty that I'm always aware of it and the way the head is not balanced by the weight of the clasp. Though only 10g lighter the 40mm version is simply better balanced. Remedying the size issue by fitting a strap simply makes the overall package a similar price to the 40mm version and doesn't address the balance issue. So overall, I feel that the 40mm version is the one to go for.

    • @ShinyThings
      @ShinyThings  Před 3 lety

      @David Hollad, thanks for sharing. 40mm seams like a universal classic size, although Rolex now introduced 41mm Sub - so go figure 🙄😊 Adjusted to my 7 inch wrist the 43mm watch is only slightly heavier at 149g compare to 144g of the 40mm one, but not by much. I agree that buying a strap is an extra expense, and personally I would recommend to go for the bracelet 43mm version, because I don't particularly like neither of the strap options offered 🙂, and because I am more of a bracelet guy. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    I already had the 43mm long before the 40mm came out. Plus my 43mm is the Hulk which is not yet available in the 40mm. Mine has the NH35. The indices on my 43mm are perfectly aligned. The 43mm sits ok on my 7.5 inch wrist. If I were looking now I might wait for the 40mm Hulk ... if it is ever produced ... but I do not regret at all my purchase of the 43mm.

    • @ShinyThings
      @ShinyThings  Před 3 lety +2

      @Karl Senula, thanks for sharing! I think for whatever reason the QC on 43mm is better. After doing this video, I was surprised how close these two watches are, and in terms of weight, adjusted to my 7 inch wrist the 43mm watch is only slightly heavier at 149g compare to 144g of the 40mm one, but not by much. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍

    I've got one of the very early Miyota powered 43mm watches which even has a mineral crystal. There's nothing wrong with the miyota movement apart from a bit of rotor spin due to being uni directional winding, it's very reliable and I've been able to regulate it down to about 1 second gained per day. Pagani give an awful lot for the money...

    • @ShinyThings
      @ShinyThings  Před 3 lety +1

      @TheOne ThatGotAway, Pagani Design do tend to lower their prices as they sell more units, they did that with other popular models. There is a bit more lume on the 40mm and lume is expensive, so it might still be priced a bit higher than the 43mm one, even after the novelty of new 40mm models wears off. All those Chinese Factories do not understand, what we all want, although it is VERY clear and easy.
    All Brands offer only 70 - 85 % of the Following Specs.
    They argue with the Price and Budget, but I would love to pay 100,- Dollar for this Combination:
    + SS-Case max. 12,6 mm high
    + Smooth Screw-Down-Crown
    + Ceramic well-Aligned Bezel
    + Sapphire Chrystal with AR-Coating inside.
    + 2,5 Cyclops from Sapphire, too
    + Seiko NH35a
    + As an Upgrade the Option for a Miyota 9015 up to 160 ? US-Dollar
    + Very good Lume.
    + Minimalistic, Stylish Dial without Fantasy-Nonsens-Writing
    + Bracelet: Brushed Links only + Glide-Lock (or at least Diving Extension) + Massive End-Links.
    Even the Hyped San Martin V3 Water Ghost does NOT offer all of those Specs. :-(
    Why pay 3 x the Price for it then...?
    I refuse to buy a San Martin, exchange the Movement to a 9015 and install an Extra-Glide-Lock. - No, Sir.
