    "it's well-designed"? well designed? It's top notch design. Even Germany awarded this car for design. Most beautiful sedan after Alfa 159

      @svenschwingel8632 Před 7 lety +8

      You mean Alfa 156, the masterpiece. The 159 wasn't beautiful :p

    • @svenschwingel8632
      @svenschwingel8632 Před 7 lety

      166? Now you're just trolling ... that fat piece of shit could never replace the simple, clean beauty of the 164.

    • @Arttyor
      @Arttyor Před 7 lety +1

      Sven Schwingel I find 156 to be one of the last one to pick up design - wise. Both 159 and 166(front facelift) look better than 156 in my opinion.

    • @svenschwingel8632
      @svenschwingel8632 Před 7 lety +9

      I consider the 156 a masterpiece. Clean lines, perfect proportions and gosh, those taillights looked like gems. The Alfa GT had the same design language btw. And the new Giulia seamlessly picks up where these left off. I also liked the 155 with its edges and its wedge silhouette and the 164 which was all about serious business elegance.
      Personally, I consider the successors (including Brera/166/159) to be a tad overstyled. They still have style and passionate design, but to me, they lack the simplicity what made Alfa Romeo designs so desirable. I don't want them to go the way Honda went with its Civic lineup over the years which went from a no-bullshit clean design to be the optical abomination we see today.
      But the most beautiful Alfa Romeo of all times is still the 70's 2000 GTV Bertone Coupé.

      To be fair, alfa cars used to be sensitive to lazy maintenance. Being on the high performance side, they don't need extra care, but they will fail, and soon, if you neglect basic maintenance. Most other cars are build to be more resilient to lazy owners. BTW, it's just the same for BWMs, which even in Germany end up to be less reliable than alfas.

      I'm Italian and I admit that maybe in America (but alzo in Italy) not all people understand the meaning of "Quadrifoglio". It comes from the historical period when Alfa was the best producer of cars in the world: Actually the first and the second F1GranPrix season were both winned by the Alfa, with the cars called "quadrifoglio" (🍀), symbol of Luck for the car and the pilot.

What a blast to drive and totally reliable. Dealer service also stellar. I have 3 friends who have had BMws which all had catastrophic engine failure with under 100k. That just Sad in this day and age. And since bmw has horrific resale value none of them were worth at $16,000 engine replacement. My dad had an S600 Mercedes. Beautiful car when it wasn’t in the shop-but sadly it was, and often. There is one upside to this- any Eastern European can now afford to buy a ten year old Mercedes or BMW and think he is the shit while listening to euro techno driving down the road despite a failed suspension system and non working electrical

    You have to do another review of Giulia Quad. You missed some features. For example, explain how the front spliter works (it opens in dynamic mode), how the aerodynamics work beneath the car with rear difusor, the engine designed by a Ferrari engineer and the advanced efficiency mode that shuts off the sparks injection on 3 cilindres to save some fuel.

    if you complain about built quality of Italian cars, what do you say when you get into an American car ? you cry ?

    • @michaelconverse5127
      @michaelconverse5127 Před 6 lety +43

      In the 1980s and 1990s yes. Not anymore. The American cars for the past 10-12 years are vastly better in terms of reliability than the Italian - and German cars. There is a reason $135,000 Maseratis are now $20,000 and that bmw and Mercedes are worth 5 percent of their original purchase price after ten years. The European cars are nice when new but a pile of crap at 80,000 miles. In the 1970s American cars were junk at 80,000 and Volkswagens, Volvo’s and bmws would do double that when regularly maintained. Now it’s the exact opposite. Italian cars were never good In terms of long term reliability but at least they were cool and different enough to warrant some pain.

    • @jump3erlt
      @jump3erlt Před 6 lety +60

      I'd like to disagree. Yes, I am an Eastern European, as they say, and we buy wrecked, tired, fucked used cars from Germany or France. With some fixes done, those used, crappy cars come to life again and drive on for at least 10 years in our country. I have a 2000 Alfa Romeo 146 diesel, and it has around 340k kilometers on the odo. I admit, it has some minor flaws due to the age and sht, but overall, the car is really reliable and cheap to run, plus the handling, built quality and the looks are far better than any american or european car from that year. Modern cars, well yeah, germans suddenly became greedy bastards and build terrible quality powertrains just to get more profit. Well, Italians are quite different in that way, they still tend to manufacture lasting cars. At least with the Giulia, time will tell. But ofc, you will have to replace the turbos' eventually. And yes, american cars became better over the years, but at a cost. I mean 100k+ for an Escalade, yeah, basically the same price as for a conventional european luxury SUV. Another fact I'd like to state is that european brands tend to build lower quality cars for USA market and ofc the opposite for the Eu. It's because, muricans have more cash to fix em, so why not make it a profit. What I meant with this poem is that there are A LOT of factors to determine which country builds better cars :)

    • @IconW
      @IconW Před 6 lety +43

      Yeah. Maybe the americans have getting better with overall built quality but the interiors are still far from european standards.

    • @jump3erlt
      @jump3erlt Před 6 lety +10

      Damn, forgot to mention strict european regulations for emissions and stuff. Thats why euro cars break down fast. Its all overcomplicated to build a good and lasting engine without compromising the sell value of the car.
