- This ain't your grandma's tile countertop!
Epoxy grouting the counter top went very well and I'm glad I decided to hold out for it. It's not really more difficult to use than the regular, cement based grout, but is on a whole other level of durable and stain resistant.

that looks freaking awsome and your videos are really great. instead of talking for 20 min then working you get straight to the fun stuff as you talk. very informative aswell. thanks!
Very, very nice!!! Lovely tile. Everything matches so well....tiles, grout, sink....bravo!!!
That looks really classy. There's going to be a lot of people installing tiled worktops.
Thanks :)
Beautiful countertop and work. I can't wait to see the floor video, thank you for sharing :)
That finish work makes the whole tile counter top look awesome! Keep up the great work.
The finish is fantastic, the flush mounted sink looks amazing! It's the finishing touches like that that make all the difference. Keep up the awesome video's and I cant wait to see what you do with the shower!
Thanks :)
Man, that really does look amazing! Very neat. Actually very nice to see you so happy and pleasantly surprised with the result.
I'm really surprised how much I'm enjoying this section of your remodel. it's coming out beautifully, and it looks like it's going to be a pleasure to use once you're done.
That is looking great! I really like the way the grout filled around the sink. Nice work!
Nice job. I like the edge treatment.
I typically cannot stand tiled counter tops. After years of being in residential construction we generally thought of this as a cheap fix. This though looks fantastic from what I can tell though and I would consider this on par with high end counter tops.
LOOKS great great job thanks for the time you took to film this .
Always nice listening and watching you. Thanks. And the front of the counter, the bull nose, very clever and really nice.
Love your channel! It's giving me such inspiration for some home projects.
Great job man. Its tranquilizing to watch you spreading the epoxy to finish it.
Looks great! I love the double window above the sink.
Looks superb, looking for ideas right now and this really caught my eye. Good presentation too.
That looks really cool. You have great taste, Mr. Heisz.
Hi, it's a really wonderful job! The end result is amazing! Good job!
Thank you for both videos about the counter. I've been juggling wood, concrete and tile....and I think I need to look at tile again!
I'm frugal too...I apply epoxy grout with a 1" to a 1-1/2" flexible plastic putty knife, and a small epoxy float. They extend open time by reducing application and clean up time, and extend yield (depending on mortar and gap between joints).
It's a counter, not a floor, and that opens up a lot of possibilities!
Looking good John! Thx for the inspiration! Sending love & support from Brooklyn NY!!
Dude you rock, one of the best videos I've seen. Thank you!
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL JOB!
a tremendous video in content and production! Thx for the excellence!!
Looks nice I like the colors of tile and grout.
Great prep work makes the job go and you did it. Easy for the novice to overlook that aspect.
cool idea!
Looks really smart!
Turned out excellent ... looks awesome 👍▶
Really nice job and a very good ideea with tiling insted of a worktop.
Whoa! I,be never used epoxy grout. Learn something new from your videos. Thankz
I like those little sparkles in the tiles. Nice work!
excellent work!

Thanks John. Your countertop looks awesome.
Hi John, any particular reason you didn't make the back splash or just personal preference?
generally, I dislike the look of tile countertops but your install is handsome af!
You are a multi talented guy!
Great job looks great.
Looks fantastic, you did great job. We did our shower and mixed up the whole batch like it said on directions and it did harden up before we used it all so had to go and buy more. Wish we had thought to do it your way.
looks really good magic marker worked. Great vid thanks
Looking good !
Great looking top, John. Looks like you are coming along well with your house.
Wow that looks good John !!!
Thank you!
First video I watched you had on a Smashing Pumpkins shirt. The second video an AC/DC shirt. Subscribed. Great videos.
Your awesome John!!
Looks amazing
really like your nosing idea, with the first video I thought you were going to put wood in it. well done John!
Looks real nice!
Looks amazing John! Very impressed with the color and design. I am a tad jealous lol
Looks amazing. You inspired me. I'm going to do something similiar. I don't think I will do the angled edge though, as it is too much work for me. I'll just square it off. Thanks!
great job! looks good!
Wow that actualy looks so good and stylush
Those look really great! 🤓
Tip I saw on another video that looks like it would be very useful for epoxy grouting and wiping away the excess is to first coat it with thin layer of detergent before putting the epoxy down. I haven't personally tried it, but the man who demonstrated it is very well established and respected.
Awesome job !!!
this looks awesome. headed to Lowe's right now...
Amazing work :)
OH CANADA!!!! Love your videos!!!!
That looks great
I like your choice in bands, especially Boston. (Your work looks great too, btw.) :)
that turned out really nice..
wow! great job!
looking good!
Thanks Matt! It's getting there :)
Nice job with the porcelain tiles, I'm planning to re do mine within a month. With all of the choices in porcelain tile these days granite looks dated and you can get huge tiles for a no grout look if you want. Great job, I've subscribed!
that looks really nice John...
Thanks!
A perfect job as usual, and epxoy grout is far more practical on wet areas. No staining or mold and easy to clean. We would normally add a tile splashback as well - did you consider this? And always use matching silicon where the counter meets the wall.
Great video. I watch both the first video and this one. So now I'm thinking about going this way and adding tile to my kitchen counter top since all other tops seems to be expensive. I just sanded and painted all cabinets, now I'm going to add a flat piece of plywood to the top and pick out a tile I want to use and go from there. Not sure of the grout you used here but il check the description to see if you have the name there. Or maybe I can talk to some guy at Home Depot or lowes and see what grout is good to add to the counter top. Thanks man!
Very beautiful 👌🏻👏🏻
I've heard about Epoxy Grout for a number of years. The tile contractors I know shy away from it claiming it's so much more time consuming to use. I am in the process of remodeling our Master Bath and plan on using this. And watching you, it doesn't look any harder to use than cement based grout. This is much better than going back and sealing it once or twice a year. Nice job.
In one way, it's a lot better - you really can't wash it away, like you can do with the cement grout. If you use too much water with the cement one, it'll get really sandy on the surface, but that doesn't happen with this. Takes longer to clean, is all.
Showers especially here in the gulf south are so pron to mold, I think no matter what the cost difference or trouble with the install it would be worth it.
Great job, I hadn't thought of using epoxy grout on my upcoming project, but I might give it a try ;?)
great channel
Thank you!
that looks sick, wanna do that on my kitchen
You'd sold me on the fact that a tiled counter top can still be a very attractive option to a kitchen renovation. I'm sure the cost savings are huge in comparison to single cut granite counter tops. Can you reveal your total cost to this project? I'm strongly consider in doing this. Thanks.
Very nice.
now that is skill
Thanks for the video! You really made tiled countertops look professional and purposeful!
We are exploring different options for our countertops. I'm wondering about the epoxy grout you used. It looks like it holds up to water without needing to be sealed, is that the case? Do tiles need any kind of sealant? (Maybe that depends on the type of tile?)
How caustic is the epoxy grout? I'm asking because I have a lung condition and need to be careful. Does the vapor stick around for a while while it's curing, or is it something that clears up fairly quickly as it sets?
Thanks for your help and for creating these videos!
looks absolutely stunning! Are you gonna do a backsplash?
Thanks for sharing your project. Great job! I would recommend that in the future you use latex or nitrile gloves when handling epoxy based grout. Direct contact is not good for you.
beautiful.....nice shirt too
Looks great John! We are wanting to do our kitchen next year and this will definitely up for consideration! Any reason why you went with a two basin sink over a single basin? We took our two basin our for single basin and could never go back to a two basin.
відмінна робота, так тримати!
Looks really good!
No back splash?
Looks great! Let us know how the marker holds up. When I have used Sharpie to black out stuff in the past, it has not held up well for me. That was mostly on metal or plastic, though. So maybe it will hold up better on a porous surface like that ground granite.
Would you consider doing a splash back effect on the counter top? Great video
I have been wanted to do tile, friends keep saying granite. I say no. I am tired of all the houses with the same look to there counter tops. This look sgreat !
nice!
Love the finished look. What was the total cost for that countertop?
having the sink flush sounds super nice. I've never heard of that before; is that a thing?
Holy shitt I WANT THAT
John, I love that tile, grout and especially the sink. Could you please tell me the name/Company for all of it. If it's too much trouble, If it is, I will understand. I have done many thousands of square feet of tile and have never seen or done as good of a job as you did on those counter tops. Plus I learned a few tips from you. Damn, you are good. Thanks for sharing your talents. It's not my trade either.
Looks great! What's the details on that sink? I'm a big fan
Thanks! The sink is from Blanco, made from a composite they call silgranite.
Will the tiles attached strongly onto the plywood?
Looks really good , but how is the fume?
Home Depot has slate colored refrigerators also. That would look cool
I LOVE THE IDEA WITH THE TILE, WHERE DID YOU GET THE TILE FROM AND WHAT IS THE COLOR CALLED AND MANUFACTURER, YOU MENTIONED YOU USED PORCELAIN.
How did you do the edges? Are there edge covers like we saw many decades ago with Formica tops?
I don't see it listed here, what is the band name of the grout that you used? I would like to purchase an expoxy that is easy to use.
i got a simular chanel to you, just got a few new tools, watch this space, you are a inspiration
I really like it and who cuts directly on or eats off the countertop anyway? If you want less grout, use larger tiles..I'm thinking about using large 24x48s. Beats paying out the wazoo for custom made stone or settling for laminate which comes with the stupid built in backsplash. Never worry about something burning it like quartz or having to apply sealer as on granite. Porcelain is probably what I'll use. With the right grout shouldn't be any problems with stains or seepage. But for the grout I'd plan on using the Mapei "FA" as it is a high performance grout (not mortar based) but not as complicated as epoxy based which seems like asking for problems if you make some mistake mixing or applying it.
This is some kind of epoxy resin with can be used with foot?
Crazy amount of work, John. It came out great! But I wonder, is it less expensive than buy just a piece of corian, or silestone, or something like that in black?
I've never seen one of those composite tops that appeals to me, and I looked at a lot before this and my last kitchen.
Besides that, it wasn't that much work. A day and a half to cut and set the tiles, and about 4 hours to grout it. I'm three days already on the floor, and that's not even half done.
